As a seasoned trader, I appreciate the depth of their charting tools and the liquidity on their futures markets. The execution is snappy even during high volatility.
Gate is easily one of my favorite exchanges. The UI is clean, the mobile app doesn't lag, and the fee structure is very reasonable. Support can be a tad slow when things get crazy, but honestly, the platform's stability makes up for it. Definitely recommend it for both newbies and pros.
Terrible exchange, since 2026 they ask for passport for EU, but when creating the account and first KYC - ID was enough. Now if you dont have a passport your funds are stuck and you can go fk yourself, support wont help you.

I assume that this is due to low liquidity during the government shutdown. Customers shall not withdraw their assets.

This is a scam platform that allows people to buy cryptocurrency on the site. The site uses deceptive methods to defraud users of their money. So far, many people have been scammed.

Gate.com froze my withdrawals without reason, claiming an old 2023 card issue handled by their Lithuanian branch (Gate UAB). My current balance came from an on-chain airdrop, not from any fiat purchase, yet they locked my account (and I'm KYCed from a long time).
After weeks of useless "compliance" messages, they finally told me that to unlock my withdrawals I had to "accept Resolution 1", meaning they would debit an extra 40 USDT from my spot balance as a so-called penalty for an ancient card dispute, otherwise my funds would stay blocked.
I eventually accepted just to recover my money, but this is not compliance, it’s extortion disguised as regulation. No serious exchange should ever condition withdrawal access on paying arbitrary "fees".
Got my assets back (minus what they stole), but I’ll obviously NEVER use Gate.com again. Their practices are abusive, their support robotic, and their compliance department acts like a ransom desk. Avoid this platform.
Edit after Gate answer (15/10/2025): Let me be very clear: the way this case was handled was completely unacceptable. Locking a user’s account for weeks over an unrelated two-year-old fiat issue, and then conditioning the release of withdrawals on a forced 40 USDT “resolution,” is not compliance, it’s coercion. I’ve kept full records of this process. No legitimate exchange should ever treat verified customers this way.
Edit #2 (17/10/2025): After posting this review, Gate.com reached out to apologize and refunded the disputed 40 USDT deduction. While I appreciate the refund, the way the situation was handled, blocking withdrawals and forcing a payment before acting, remains completely unacceptable. Trust is damaged and I'll never use their platform again.

At first the service rather is taken good care in fast and enthusiastic, about rewards and bonus until now I don't have receive anyone as your ad. And then about trade bot service doesn't have neutral function for clients use while the market in sideway to reduce risks of loses.

This is not just a small mistake, it is a serious issue. My liquidation price was 172, but Gate.io liquidated my position at 195.34 – completely unfair and unacceptable. This is not the first time it happens, and if the platform cannot protect its users, it cannot be trusted. If Gate.io does not fix these problems transparently, I will share my experience across social media and crypto communities. Customers deserve honesty, fairness, and real protection

I didn't do anything, so I gave me account risk control. It was really rubbish that I couldn't even participate in the activity.

Gate.io (Gate.com) Blackmail and extortion out of thin air.
I've transferred my BCD to Gate.io after BCD fork was done. They did not ask me to verify my identity before deposit and after. However 15/08/25 i've tried to request withdrawal of BCD (for a memory), because now they cost nothing and delisted from Gate.io (gate.com), so they have requested to me to pass verification procedure. This guys, who reply to tickets look like stupid or robot like. They do not answer to the specific questions and provide copy past script of ready answer. I have figured out that this Fraudulent organization required to pass verification process through some kind of third party entity named "Jumio". They want to force customer to allow this unknown private (commercial) entity "Jumio" to use your private information. Nobody know who are this guys and how do they use your private in the future. Maybe they open accounts with your name to another exchanges or services or just sell your documents on black market. Nobody gives 100% warranty. We all know about leaks of private data (scans of ID, selfie, etc) from different online platforms such as Coinbase, Ledger, FTX Japan, Digitex, Fractal ID etc. I have asked about security of my data and about corporation info of Gate.io and Jumio, owners, physical and registered address, jurisdiction, etc. There are NO answer. So mysterious and suspicious people who are hiding from another side of internet somewhere behind Panama offshore are required from you to open all your private info for them. At the same time, they hide behind the screen of KYC and AML, supposedly for the safety and protection of your funds. But how will these charlatans establish that the person who made the deposit and the person who requests the withdrawal are the same person, if they did not require identity verification when making the deposit? They do not answer this question and ignore it, because there is no sound logic in this. Any person with docs may pass such stupid verification, even dog or cat with id, but not necessarily the person who has deposited crypto. They have no purpose to check this at all, their purpose is to lure out your documents with false and hypocritical assurances of care for you.Why such wild checks if I told them that I don't want anything more to do with them and just want to get back control of my BCD. These bastards, despite the fact that the coin is worth nothing, on top of that set a commission of 208 BCD out of my 425, i.e. almost 50%. But why do these scammers need these devalued coins? It's good that they were BCD, it would be much worse if they got hold of BTC or ETH. TAKE CARE OF YOUR FUNDS, DO NOT TRUST THEM TO BEAUTIFULLY LUCKY AND SMILING SCAMMERS IN WHITE COLLARS.
P.S. Please see their response below.
It clearly demonstrates the fact that by holding your funds hostage, like extortionists, they demonstrate their superiority over you and complete disrespect for you as a person. They do not even read your appeals to them! Instead of real involvement in the problem that has arisen, here, as everywhere, they give an answer in the form of a pre-prepared template-formula, which does not give clear answers on the merits, but contains generalized watery phrases and formulations without logical explanations of their actions and often, as in this case, do not correspond at all to the problems raised in the review. This is a classic pattern of actions of scammers and financial swindlers who try to pass themselves off as a reliable business for as long as possible. A service that respects its users, people, will not act like this. Rest assured, if your funds ever end up with them (Gate.io Exchange), they will come up with a lot of reasons not to give them to you.
Also, be careful with positive reviews that may be left by people interested in the service (discussed by the company).
Human psychology is designed in such a way that when everything is fine with a person, he will not waste time in vain on reviews about someone or something. Only real trouble motivates people to take action.
They even change their reply twice, so have to keep the copy:)
They wrote:
"To ensure safe trading environment, KYC verification is required to access certain platform features. This process helps prevent fraud, money laundering, extortion and other illegal activities. We also want to emphasize that we have no intention of withholding your assets."
It looks pretty cute when:
The extortionists claim that this is how they fight extortion, keep my funds for themselves and assure that they don't need them.
It's strange, but gate.io didn't tell me that my devalued funds are related to terrorism or extortion. Unless they themselves got hold of them and are now terrorizing me as extortionists.
KYC&AML don't protect users. It is about control

Gate.com scams in cooperation with Islamic Coin ($ISLM) to manipulate the prices on its exchange. The MarketMaker trades with sellers and buyers are the same person. Its a classical scam to keep to manipulate the markets.

Gate has always served me well and is very reliable in all my web hosting needs. There has rarely been any issue that was not resolved quickly and easily.
