The worst insurance ever, sounds like a nice scheme. All the bad reviews are describing the same problem as I have although my attorney is on the case to prevent me of paying for the whole year without the possibility of using it.
This country is really odd in these type of things (insurances, services, hospital consultations). Smart people for worthless/small things and really dumb for the most of it!!
I'll now go to court because of this company who's scheming everybody on the same parameters.
Do not apply for any insurances even less FIGO !!!!

Worst experience with this insurance company. I have a new kitten which I initiated the free month insurance for. I took him to the vet the same day to see if he was healthy. Unfortunately, he had an ear problem for which I now have to go to the vets for every few weeks. I extended the insurance, as it said monthly payment, with the understanding that I can cancel it monthly. Turns out that Figo will not cover any of my costs, and I cannot cancel the insurance as it is “for one year”, which was never stated anywhere when I applied for the insurance. It is only stated in the “policy sheet”… this is what you receive after starting your insurance. I am deeply disappointed by this insurance company. I now have the costs of this insurance for a year AND the vet appointments + medicine. My advise is to not start an insurance here, if you don’t want to be blindsided.

Avoid!
We got this insurance for free through the breeder we got our lovely cat from. They denied ALL claims due to the fact that they were existing “before” our pet was insured.
We insured her from the day we got her and issues started only a week later, as seen by her patient file. Just get an actual insurance and avoid this company and their auto-generated worthless responses.

Our dog had puppy pyoderma/puppy impetigo shortly after the 30 day insurance waiting period, the diagnosis is clearly stated in the medical records from the vet. That has been resolved with the recommended treatment for the vet. However one of the symptoms was itching. Now every vet visit months after, if it has any hint of itching or skin symptoms will not get reimbursed claiming that it's the same thing as from when he was a puppy, despite the symptoms themselves happening in different areas, different presentation, different diagnoses from the vet and are happening months apart, but they don't care. They are even refusing to reimburse treatment for ear wounds, because that somehow relates to the pyoderma from 8 months ago? Any excuse, however illogical they use to not reimburse..
Edit After Figo's response - That's exactly the response you're gonna get. They use the same response for new conditions, new problems that are not related to any previous pre-existing conditions without explaining or justifying how current problems are related to the single past issue that has been resolved a long time ago.

Following tests and surgery, invoices submitted online with a swift and simple process.

I regret choosing Figo for my pet insurance. The lack of transparency regarding waiting periods until insurance comes into effect, misleading communication from support, and the failure to reimburse even basic claims have been frustrating.
Misleading Information About Coverage Start Dates:
When researching pet insurance, I specifically looked for policies with no long waiting periods. Competing providers like PetSecur and Ohra clearly state their 30-day waiting periods upfront. However, Figo’s website fails to make this critical information easily accessible. Before signing up, I contacted support via WhatsApp and was told, “The insurance will start the day after you’ve applied for it.” There was no mention that the majority of coverage, including essential care, would only kick in after 30 days. This deliberate omission influenced my decision to go with Figo, despite it being more expensive.
Hidden Waiting Periods & Policy Errors:
When I signed up, I added dental coverage because my rescue dog needed treatment. After submitting my application, I noticed the dental package was missing from my policy. A support agent quickly added it—but again, no one informed me that a 30-day waiting period applied to this addition. As a result, my €1,000 dental claim was denied. The policy documents I received after the change also failed to make this restriction clear.
No Reimbursement for Preventative Care:
Even for basic, preventative care like vaccinations or general consultations, I have yet to receive anything from Figo. It’s incredibly disappointing that, despite paying almost 35 Euros a month and having decent coverage, I’m not seeing any real benefits.

With figo , I have always felt understood , listened to, and fairly treated. Yes, it is an expensive insurance. But you won't get any Monkey Business. They do what they promised, the declaratie system is very well regulated and quickly handled , I always get a response very quickly and also the money reimbursed , while everything is very well explained on the invoices. A huge plus is that they are friendly and kind in all communications , and try to find solutions with you.
All these seem obvious , but they are definitely not obvious, judging from all the other scammer insurances in the Netherlands.
Unfortunately I removed one of my cats from Figo because her new policy seemed too expensive to me, and moved her to another insurance , that was cheaper but turned out to be a total scam where we are paying money for nothing. I can't wait for the year to be completed, so that I can register her with Figo again!

The rules are explained very well in each claim response. I always know why I will be reimbursed a certain amount and how it was calculated. It is also processed quite quickly which I think is important. I am very happy to have insurance for my cats with Figo.

I have 2 dogs, one 5 yo and one 3 yo and was hesitant about the insurance because of the not so good experience with my personal one, however I have found out that it is amazing.. I used to pay the service at the vet where they get regular check ups and some discounts in vaccinations etc. but this doesn't compare.. Figo has been efficient, effective and also really easy to enrol. I have been using it for 9 months already and I can say that it has been the best decision I could make for my pets and for my peace of mind. And will continue with it and recomend it to anyone who also considers the pets as family :)
