I bought a fridgefreezer for my elderly…

I bought a fridgefreezer for my elderly mother, which had to fit into a specific sized space. The choice that Fields had was extensive and we were able to find one that matched our needs via their web site. We purchase in store where we received very helpful service. The delivery was equally good, arriving at the time specified. The delivery driver was excellent. He was polite and friendly. He was efficient and thorough in installing the new appliance as well as removing the old appliance and all packaging.. Very happy customer.

Great service

Little disappointed they don't do lateral flows before visiting clinically vulnerable clients hence the 4 stars. However they wore a mask. Quick fitting of oven and old oven taken away. Couldn't fault the service from purchase to fitting.

First time I've used Fields

First time I've used Fields, I will definitely be doing so again. My integrated dishwasher stopped working. My call was answered quickly, the person I spoke to was knowledgeable. Booked an installation day, engineer arrived and installed my new dishwasher. He took time to show me how to use it. He took everything away including my old appliance. The whole process was easy, I felt like I was in very good professional hands. I highly recommend Fields.

I had a fantastic experience with delivery and installation

I had a fantastic experience with Fields. I ordered late at night, they called the next morning to arrange delivery and even managed to squeeze my delivery in earlier because I had no fridge! The guys who came to install were so professional and really dedicated to making sure the fridge was lined up and symmetrical. They really too their time and they genuinely cared!!
I was so impressed that I am going back to buy a new oven from them and told my Mum to cancel her order from elsewhere and buy her washing machine from them.
Good stock, good price, great delivery and excellent service. So pleased we bought local and supported a local business too!

Fridge/ freezer replacement

Visited on a Saturday to look at Fridge/freezers, given some new facts and general advice on the different options. Needed confirmation of the inside layout of the fridge, which was supplied on Monday by photo/email. Ordered on line, delivered on Wednesday.
Can't ask for better service than that!

Excellent service

Ordered a replacement integrated refrigerator. Delivered in 4 days and installed by experienced two man team. Could have purchased the item a little cheaper but decided to go with someone who attended to my needs when I first moved into he area. I was not disappointed. Product and installation excellent. I will be calling on Fields for my future needs and I am very happy to recommend them.

integrated microwave replacement

We had a integrated microwave replaced and new one installed. Service in store was excellent and we were given all of the information and alternatives available. The on-site installation was done on the scheduled time , completed professionally and everything left tidy and clean. Would recommend Fields .

5 star quality service; exceptionally good customer service, all very helpful and friendly, from the lady at the end of the phone to the engineer. Heaps of extra advice on top of what I was paying for, which was to fix my dishwasher, which they also did quickly and efficiently! Unhelpful Customer Service

I note most of the reviews on here are for buying appliances from Fields and I cannot disagree with the view that they are very good when selling you a product. However this review is about a repair call I made for an out of warranty Bosch washing machine. It is a review of their repair service which they may feel meets their customers needs. I shall explain why it didn't meet mine.

I had a very simple issue of a blockage somewhere inside my washing machine which required urgent attention as I have a family of five. Having had a good experience buying appliances I thought I would use Fields. The engineer was booked up so I had to wait. I also had to pay in advance (although not all repair services insist on payment up front). So far so good.

On the day the engineer visited he noted within five minutes that the clip that held on the hose would be destroyed once removed and he therefore had to order a new one from Bosch. This would add another weeks delay whilst Fields obtained the clip and then there would be up to an additional week before I got a new engineers appointment. Two weeks potentially. When I looked on the Bosch website I discovered that the original clip is no longer produced and it's replacement is a standard re-useable universal hose clip (and we are talking about something that is easily available in Screwfix). I rang Fields and said I really did not understand why their engineer did not carry universal hose clips and complained that a) the first visit was a waste of time and b) I was facing further delay of possibly up to two weeks including sourcing the Bosch manufactured clip (which I also pointed out really wasn't essential). I was told that it was unreasonable to expect an engineer to carry 'every spare part for every machine'. To refer to this simple adjustable hose clip as a 'spare part' is somewhat disingenuous in my view. If it is a spare part so is a standard nail or a screw. A hose clip is just a metal ring that contracts when you turn a screw. It enables a flexible pipe to be clamped on to a solid one. To prove this item was generic I was able to buy some identical hose clips from Screwfix in Gerrards Cross (£7 for 10). However despite managing to obtain this clip within hours of the engineers visit I was told it would be a week before the engineer could visit again and find the blockage that I had originally called him out for. I was then accused of getting personal (I made a comment that I was not happy with the service and would review it online) but in any event by this point I was concerned that this was just going to drag on and on. After a fruitless phone conversation in which Fields offered me nothing other than an appointment in 7 days time I gave up and booked another company who were able to fix it the following day. The first thing I asked them was "do you carry universal hose clips" and the response was "I can't believe any washing machine engineer wouldn't!".

I sent Field's a complaint by email detailing the same points made in this review and received an unapologetic reply which began "thank you for your thoughts" and went on to state that they had not been asked for a hose clip in "24 years of trading" referring to the simple metal band/screw as a 'non-standard part'. They did offer a slightly earlier appointment but I had already arranged another firm to deal with it the next day.

When all is said and done I just wanted the washing machine fixed urgently but instead ended up pointlessly arguing about the pedigree of a simple hose clip that in order to fix the issue clearly did not need to be one made by Bosch. I don't expect to have to think these things through because I expect the people providing the repair service to do that for me and plan ahead. Fields knew well in advance exactly what model of machine I had and that the issue was a blocked hose therefore any issues with non standard hose clip replacement delays should have been flagged up to me before I booked a call out. Fields are the experts, not me. Instead I get an engineer turn up after close to a week, shake his head and say "you need a hose clip...but I don't have one" leaving me with one option - to wait another week (or more) having paid £80 in advance. Fields and I may disagree as to what constitutes good service but I'll stick with my definition which is based on actual outcomes.

I didn't ask for a refund of the call out fee in my complaint letter since I understand call out fees are normally not refundable but was in any event told in no uncertain terms " if you have found an engineer that is not busy this is your choice and there will be no refund". At least that was made clear.

POSTSCRIPT When an engineer came out from another company they didn't take the hose off and said that was completely unnecessary. Within 20 minutes they found a coin at the back of the machine blocking a pipe. Problem fixed.

Thankyou for noting that we don’t have many reviews for repairs, we will now also be calling these customers too.

Back to your experience. You called from work on Friday 26th and we ran through how to check the pump for blockages and to how to test the pump to see if it was faulty. You checked the machine when you went home at lunch time and then called as the pump was working. We then arranged an engineer visit for 8AM on Wednesday 31st. the engineer checked the machine and found the sumphose was attached with a 1 time use 8cm clamp, not very helpful. In 24 years never come across a 1 use band on a sump hose and I also see from your email that Bosch have discontinued this clamp and gone with a regular jubilee clamp as a replacement.

The next available date for us to return to fit the clip you purchased from screwfix was Tuesday 6 April as Friday 2nd and Monday 5th are bank holidays. This was unacceptable for you and you made alternative arrangements.

The majority of service calls are completed on the 1st visit, occasionally we have to return to fit a part unfortunately your call out encountered a weekend and bank holidays, if there’s every a bad time for a machine to fail it was definitely now.

To prevent yourself and others from having a similar problem in the future we recommend everyone checks their filter every 3 months and does a maintenance was at 90.c every month to kill bacteria and reduce sludge that blocks washing machine pipes

Good Service

After looking on the website, I phoned the Beaconsfield shop and a prompt response by a 'real person'!
My order was taken and questions answered pleasantly and efficiently. Delivery was only a few days later and I was able to get a 3 hour time slot on the day before delivery.
Delivery was on time with a cheerful delivery driver.
