There's no 3 visit guarantee

I booked Fairfix to install a small water heater in my bathroom on the 19th April 2023. The engineer, Tye, seemed friendly and helpful and he came, installed it and I made the payment. The whole job took max 20min.
On the 6th of June I texted him saying that the water had gone colder and after a couple of messages back and forth, he said he would come and check to see if the filter might be partially blocked.
On the 9th June, I followed up and he said that "he had a reaction to something in his eye" so he couldn't come. He asked a few follow up questions and I left it as at that point the water was still warm (not super hot).
On the 22nd November I got in touch again and said that it had gone much worse.
This time he proceeded to tell me that "unless the pipework is leaking, it wouldn't be covered under the guarantee".

I contacted the manufacturer, who unlike Fairfix honoured the guarantee and sent me a new unit.

I called the office this week to ask about this 3 times guarantee visit. After speaking to someone, I was put on hold for a few minutes. Then she said that someone would call me back.
Surprise surprise- no one did.

In summary- a fixed price and "3 visit guarantee" is great, unless something goes actually wrong and you need to enforce it.

Will not be using them again to install anything.

Response: Thank you for your very generic response. I of course understand that your guarantee would not cover the actual unit. The manufacturer did not come and check the unit before sending me a new one free of charge, when I explained the situation to them, and because I had just bought it, they kindly sent me a new one.

I am curious to how you can be so sure that it had nothing to do with the pipes at all as you never checked? Also, why say that you are coming back in June and then refuse? Wasting my time.

Lastly, it's sad to see that you are telling a blatant lie. You did not try and call me back. I was in the office, where I had perfect signal, until 8pm that day and no one called.
I'm only writing this review so others can make an informed decision should they consider to use your services.

Dear Nermin Mikari

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We're sorry to hear about the issues you've faced with the water heater. Our records show that our engineer provided guidance based on the most cost-effective solution, suggesting a replacement given the high cost of parts for your 2020 unit. We're glad to note that we could assist in identifying the correct model for your replacement.

Understanding the inconvenience of the subsequent issues in June, it's important to clarify that our warranty covers the labor and installation pipework. Since the unit was supplied by you, In terms of direct responsibility for the unit's functionality. We appreciate your understanding that the manufacturer's warranty should address any faults in the heater itself.

We truly empathize with your situation and regret any frustration caused. Our commitment to customer satisfaction remains strong, and we're here to assist with any installation-related concerns under our guaranteed service.
We did try to return your call on Friday afternoon, but unfortunately we could not get a hold of you at that time.

Kind regards,

Fairfix Customer Service Team

Negative

Very pleasant person doing the job. Negative was over 2 hours after scheduled time and final cost to complete was high.

Great Service.
The engineer called a day earlier than requested to check the boiler and retuned the same day to carry out the repairs which was of great benefit to us.
