Everand cancelled my membership with zero explanation or warning, they first claimed it was my fault so i sent screenshots disproving this. then they blamed my bank, again sent screenshots after speaking with my bank directly. After i disproved every excuse they tried to come up with, they finally admitted that THEY themselves Terminated my subscription manually and will not provide any explanation even though there was no violation. Now they are trying to force me to buy a new more expensive subscription, incredibly dishonest business practice. i am reading through their terms and conditions to submit a report to the better business bureau because they did not honor their 21 day grace period and were dishonest when i inquired and tried to blame my bank. My ENTIRE book club pays for a subscription but now we all have to cancel and move to audible, lots of talk about class actions

I have been a customer for 7 years and always liked it.
Recently, after I have paid for a full year of Premium service, I was refused access to many books and audiobooks. If I want to access these books, I'd need to forget about the 6 more month left in my Premium subscription and sign up for a new, pricey, monthly subscription.
Everand Support is responding to my email with the same type of message every time: "We don't refund and you need to sign up for monthly service".
PS: Only after I posted this review, that Everand "tried" to help me again. They asked for a ticket number but I was never given one to start with. Actively responding to bad review looks good but there isn't a will to actually help, apparently.
Update: I did in fact re-submited my complain using the link given, several weeks ago, and still havent received any response.

I have to agree with reviews I am seeing. I feel like the recent change in subscription plans is more like a scam than a legitimate company. If you are a long time (‘legacy’) subscriber do NOT change your plan!
After being a Scribd/Everand customer for many years I thought the new standard plan would allow access to one ‘premium’ book per month (requiring an ‘unlock’). Imagine my surprise when pretty much every book I had already saved now requires an ‘unlock’ to read! I also understand that there is no list of ‘free’ book either.
The company’s unwillingness to offer existing customers a trial period with the new program just supports my feeling of how deceptive these changes are to subscribers. I have reached out via email as the auto assistant indicated and have received nothing beyond an auto reply.
I’ve recommended Scribd to many friends over the years. This is also one of the very few reviews I have ever written. I now plan to finish my ONE book I have paid to read this month and cancel my subscription.

I have been a customer of Scribd/Everand for years now. It is impossible to get anyone to contact me for customer support. I am starting to wonder if there is anyone even there. I have contacted them via message/email multiple times. I have been having an issue with my credit card not being properly charged and I asked them to contact me.

I made the mistake of upgrading, but it's actually an extreme downgrade. Now I want to cancel my subscription, and when my bank opens today, I'm going to cancel it. If they were to let me go back to the old subscription I might stick with it, but they never got back to me when a few hours later I asked to go back. This company should be out of business. They're very deceptive and all they care about is profit.

I was told by a friend that Scribd was a good audiobook site, so I decided to give it a try. Initially, I enjoyed the service. However, wanting to cut back on some expenses, I decided to cancel my subscription with the possibility of picking it up again later.
A couple of months later, I noticed issues with my account and insufficient funds, and I wasn't sure why. When I investigated, I discovered that Scribd was still deducting money from my bank account even though my subscription had been canceled. When I checked my account I saw that they had taken money for three consecutive months.
When I brought this to their attention, customer support seemed confused and didn’t understand my issue. I provided them with screenshots showing the withdrawals over the three months, as well as emails confirming that I no longer had an account with them. Despite this, I am still fighting to get my refund back. I have also disputed the charges with my bank, but they claim that they are trying to resolve the issue on their end as well.
I am very disappointed with Scribd for either their mistake or what feels like theft. I might have considered subscribing again, but this experience has left me frustrated. It's been a disappointing ordeal filled with what feels like theft by deception and a lack of empathy.
Date of experience: February 5, 2025.

I hate the new subscription plan and I have canceled my membership. I don’t know why anyone who has been a member (as I have been for years) would find the new platform acceptable. You can get a better deal almost anywhere else.

Lack of transparency re subscription levels meant they were able to withdraw a book while in the middle of listening to it. When challenged they responded with a word salad and no substance.
Will be going back to Spotify or Audible.

After Ever& changed their subscription model it is now more expensive than Audible, it has less free books than Audible, and less grade A books than Audible. You can tell on the Google Play store that Ever& keeps buying reviews to help balance out all the negative reviews from people complaining about the new model and not being able to listen like we did before. The app itself is glitchy, which was fine when it was so cheap but not when you're asking premium prices. Customer service apparently can't get anything done in weeks until you leave a negative review and then suddenly it will get fixed within hours.

Worst customer support in the industry. Absolutely do not except to get any replies when your account has issues, audiobooks display as Unavailable for no reason, etc. They should be embarrassed by how little they care about the customer. I've been waiting for a reply for 10 days now. It's not the first time but it's the last.

I used to be a subscriber of their service since they were Scribd. Over time, their service drastically changed for the worse. Recently, I decided to give them another chance and restarted my subscription, paying through Apple Pay. However, I don’t have access to anything and keep receiving a ‘Become a Member’ message.
I tried to request a refund from Apple and also contacted Everand’s customer service, but I haven’t heard back. It feels like I paid for the service but can’t use any of the features in the app

They changed to a subscription service where their basic plan is $12 for 1 book; it use to be unlimited. I decided to take the money and buy a real book each month and get a library card. Turns out the library platform looks and functions a lot like Everand and has a great selection... for free.
Also, when they rolled out the subscription change their platform was a disaster and wouldn't accept my selection of "basic plan" nor my payment method. It had me caught in a loop. Their tech support wasn't any help.

This used to be a good subscription when it was Scribd, but now they limit you like crazy, and you can only unlock one or three books a month, depending on your subscription.
It used to be that when you subscribe, you have access to the entire library, but now they're getting cheap and stingy, and completely limiting most books in the library and it's just not worth subscribing anymore.
Hopefully after seeing all these bad reviews, they'll change it back to how it used to be.

I have been a longtime subscriber. The new plan introduced late last year promised that if you had already accessed a book under the old plan, it would be unlocked under the new plan. This was a lie.
Instead, books I was in the process of reading have been locked. Books that were freely available to all subscribers before are now part of the “premium” library and require a “credit” to read them. Every book in my Saved list is locked unless I had already finished it! Even a few that I recall finishing are now locked.
Misleading advertising combined with less access. Not an improvement.

Everand received my payment from PayPal but their system was not updated so I could not add audible books for the month. I sent 3 messages with supporting documents but only received the same automated email from them. After 2weeks, I canceled and then got a response that my cancellation was accepted but with nothing noted about my payment that was accepted but not added to my account.

I have used Scribd/Everand for several years and have loved it. However, the new setup is horrible. The new subscriptions are not available in Europe, and with the old subscription, there are basically no books available. If I search an author of a book I have already heard in the app, the only book available to hear is the book I have already heard. Every other book is marked "unavailable", including a new version of the same book I already heard. When I browse through categories, there are max 20-30 books that show up (for ex. in Contemporary Fiction). If I try to search for a keyword, for example "family", there are even fewer.
I have now cancelled my subscription and will be finding access to audiobooks through other apps.
To Everand - please do not reply to my review with the same autoreply that has already been posted here on Trustpilot multiple times. You used the same exact autoreply in response to my e-mail, and I do not need to see it again.

I am extremely disappointed in the new Everand plans and service! I have attempted to contact Everand several times now regarding not having the 3 unlocks that I paid for on January 9, 2025 and still do not have a response from them! I just canceled my subscription! I really loved the previous plans! Too bad they had to ruin a good thing.

I loved this subscription and recommended it to so many. The new subscription plan is terrible. I regret that I switched my plan from legacy to the new plans and am now needing to go back to audible. I had a long list of books that had been available and are now locked. With all the quality issues of the site the new changes are not worth continuing to scroll through and delete everything. If your on legacy don’t switch!

Been a subscriber for a couple of years. Loved the service until they introduced a new and, imo, exploitive subscription plan. Additionally, they've just announced that they will stop offering magazines as part of the package. I'm no longer seeing the value here.
