About eSIM.net

Written by the company

eSIM.net is the premier UK eSIM store selling travel and UK domestic eSIM plans. We partner with O2, Vodafone and Three to supply their eSIM services. You can order an eSIM online and receive, install and use it instantly.

Our plans are extremely competitive, with an Unlimited Data, Voice and SMS service costing £20 per month. The plans are rolling 30 day, there is no commitment and you can cancel at any time. Unlike other eSIM stores our travel products are "full service". This means that in addition to data, they support voice calls and SMS. In addition they offer 5G service in most countries. Never get caught again not being able to book a restaurant or phone a taxi when you are travelling.

30-day Vodafone Travel Plan

I bought a 30-day Vodafone Travel Plan for a holiday in Australia, which I chose for two main reasons: firstly, it supported voice calls and not just data, and secondly it was an eSim which meant that I could leave my main (physical) SIM installed. My experience was rather mixed.
First of all, the good points:
The order arrived promptly
Installation was straightforward
The promised services were provided
Now for the not-so-good points:
Outgoing text messages weren't supported: not a big deal, but unlimited text messages are usually thrown in for free so it seemed an odd restriction
Using the SIM (consciously or otherwise) outside the permitted countries would result in it being cancelled (rather than just not providing a service, as one might expect): this meant that I had to leave my phone in flight mode when changing planes, since both my transit airports were in excluded countries.
To be fair, both of these limitations were clearly pointed out on the website, and if they were the only downsides I would have awarded an extra star. However, I had further issues:
As soon as I installed the eSim, I began to receive text messages from banks about using overdrafts and transactions being declined, plainly intended for the previous user. These were very numerous, and later followed by a few phone calls offering jobs and even some 2FA codes. I had to contact the site to which the previous user had posted his CV to stop the job offer calls, and some interaction with the bank to attempt to stop the others (which I didn't manage until the plan had expired).
I wanted to set up voicemail before leaving the UK and to do that I had to set a PIN code in order to access voicemail from overseas. However, one had already been set by the previous user, so it took some time of the phone to Vodafone to get it changed. I was also able to listen to the previous user's voicemails.
Now, I recognise that eSim.net has no control over how customers use its products, and that such temporary numbers will clearly be re-used since otherwise there wouldn't be enough to go round. However, the dates on the text messages suggest that someone had had it until only days before it was issued to me; I would expect numbers to be "quarantined" for a few months and then pending texts deleted before they were re-issued. I would also expect voicemails to be deleted and voicemail settings to be reset to default (i.e. no PIN).

Very average

Very average. Customer service is average, the website and app is rubbish.
The app is just a link to the website and the responses via email usually don't answer the question or ignore what you saying. It is very hard to resolve issues with them.

I have used the Vodafone Unlimited product for a few months and is okay and decently priced but viewing data usage and getting information is always wrong and is slow to update.

I have used all the main Esim sellers (Saily, Airalo, Mobimatter, Roamless) and this easily is amongst the worst.

Stop blowing your budget on pointless 'influencers' on Instagram and spend the money on improving the quality of the product.
