The rose was diseased. Several flower heads had distorted centres and small thrips emerged from them over a few days.
On contacting the company their solution was to dead head the diseased heads and do not place them in the compost heap. I requested a replacement which was Refused. Dreadful customer service. How can they send an infected bush to your garden. Disgusting they ought to follow best practices from other nurseries

Deadheading the rose blooms is necessary in a roses life cycle to allow for fresh blooms to grow. Like aphids and blackspot, rose thrips are a common rose occurrence that is part of nature that we cannot control but is easily treatable.
Whilst every effort is made in our quality checking stages, somethings can be too small to see or have not yet developed.
We do have a catalogue of guides and tips on our website on how to deal with any common problems that may occur.
Roses are very hardy but need care and maintenance throughout the year as they are living plants that last for many years. Sometimes this includes treating any naturally occurring issues that are unavoidable (caterpillars, spider mites, sawflies etc)
If you are unhappy with your rose, we do offer returns within 14 days The details can be found on our website.

We purchased the Fabulous Rose for our Aunts 80th birthday. It was delivered with care and packaged very well. Our Aunt is delighted with the rose and it is now a Precious Resident in her garden which she will treasure.

Ruby Wishes Rose Plant
I purchased a "Ruby Wishes" rose bush for my best school friends 40th Wedding Anniversary. The website is very easy to use plus it offers additional gifts to add to the item to make it more personal for the receipient. It was delivered by DPD on the date I'd selected & the item was very well packaged. My friend & her husband were delighted with this gift & I was able to see it in person at their celebration party the day after. There were so many buds on the plant plus some roses already in bloom - exactly as described on the website. I would highly recommend EnglishRoses & will definitely be ordering from them again.

The rose is beautiful. Arrived well packaged and on time. However I was not impressed with the continuous emails, at least one a day, which, despite my unsubscribing still come. Including the one asking for a review! I won't be using you again. These were not just emails about the order ,but advertising, such as for Fathers Day.

Please be very careful when buying a rose from English Roses. I do not have an issue with the quality of the rose itself. It looks fine. I have issue with the company's marketing and customer services. My 85 mother received a rose for her recently deceased sister "For My Special Sister" was how it is "marketed". This is purely to sell the product as the rose is actually called "For you with love" which is what it says on the pot but the company is 'covered' by the proper name being mentioned in the info below the aforementioned title. This caused distress to my mother who could not understand why it was not named for her sister. The Company's response was I could send it back at my expense....which is not worth doing for the price.
Overall not a good experience as I feel these names are purely created for sales and in this case have caused unnecessary distress.

My brother Andrew passed away and I wanted to order a rose with his name for them to keep in their garden. I ordered from Australia, abs got to choose the date of delivery. The parcel was wrapped beautifully and the rose is stunning. Very pleased with their service.

Nice rose. Awful service.
The rose was bought for my sister. The website made it clear that you could choose the delivery.
This was important as I needed it to arrive the day before my sister went into hospital for a significant operation.
I had message saying the rose had been dispatched. Then another saying it had been delayed.
So the rose was then to be delivered on the day of the operation when clearly my sister would not be home.
Even though I had requested the rose be left in a specified safe place, both when ordering and when courier messaged, I had another message saying that as my sister was not home it would be delivered the following day.
In short, despite the claims on the website, it seems that you can’t specify the date of delivery.
Worse, I complained and didn’t even get a response!
To be fair the rose was lovely, if in need of watering given the delay in delivery.

It does state on our website that delivery is not 100% guaranteed because there can be unforeseen circumstance that can on occasion cause delays.

Disastrous Delivery
The ordering went smoothly . I bought the rose with all the extras for a 70 th birthday. I was encouraged to choose a date so I chose the birthday date. The delivery was a disaster. It arrived 3 days late, once my friend had gone on holiday! It was left on the doorstep. Fortunately I had asked my friend's sister to look out for it. She found it and picked off all the dead buds and kept it watered and presentable for my friend's return. The whole birthday surprise was ruined. Very disappointing.

We make it extremely clear that we do not guarantee delivery dates as sadly things can go wrong, luckily it is very rare. That said, we do get how annoying this can be.
The reality is that there are multiple reasons why delivery can go wrong and the only way to fully understand them is if you give us a call or pop us an email so we can in conjunction with DPD get some clarity.
We couldn't find any record of any communication with us regarding your delivery being delayed making it difficult for us to assist you in the matter.
We do publish guidance on placing an order and always recommend selecting a delivery date that has some margin for error if the gift is intended for a very specific date. This can be found in our "Help and Advice" pages and our "Delivery" pages.

From placing order with a lovely lady to receiving the rose bush everything was perfect.Good communication and arrived when specified.Sturdy packaging and a rose with many buds and two showing colour - healthy glossy foliage too.I had to unpack as not gifting straight away and found it quite difficult to put back together but I wouldn’t deduct a start for that.

I decided to send a peace rose in memory of a friend to her husband and family. He phoned to say it had arrived in perfect condition and they were absolutely thrilled. I got one when my husband passed and every year it blooms. The ideal gift.
