Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 58 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found that the products received were nothing like those advertised, often made from cheap materials such as nylon or polyester instead of the described fabrics. The quality of the items was consistently described as poor, flimsy, and substandard, with many garments being badly made or stitched. Reviewers also reported significant issues with sizing, finding items to be much smaller than expected and often unwearable. Customers frequently experienced problems with their orders, including long shipping times from China, and items arriving broken or not at all. The refund and return policies were a major source of frustration, with many being offered only partial refunds, or being required to pay for expensive returns to China, making the process difficult and often impossible.

DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH!

Please check reviews of this Company, unlike me who stupidly bought this crap! Two ladies starting a company in York is absolute rubbish. I did receive prompt replies from them to my emails, but did not resolve the issue of shoddy nylon type items, being returned and refunded. It all comes from CHINA! They offered more discount on ordering more items. Will now have to contact Trading Standards and my Bank which is more hassle, there are lessons to be learned here, PLEASE BE AWARE!

Edith & Mae (York) DO NOT BUY

I usually check new companies before I buy but for some reason this time I didn’t. It was meant to be a shoe shop in York and it’s not. Returned items and still waiting for the refund 2 months after my return - DO NOT BUY!

Shoddy quality and are Chinese not UK

Loafers arrived, nothing like the image. Shoddy quality and sloppy fitting. Took a month to get a returns address out of them. Only to cost me £20 to return items to China. They then continued to stall,I had to raise a case with AMEX who reclaimed the charge. They then asked me why this had happened. They are not two ladies who started. Business in York, but a SCAM. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY‼️

Absolute Rubbish! - Avoid this website at all costs.

From website, the clothes looked lovely. In reality this "shop front" is an absolute scam! The items are shipped from China and I paid £34.95 for the Eline blouse (supposedly reduced from £80.00!!) Upon arrival, this item was the same quality as you would get from Shein - cheap sweaty nylon and nothing like the original photo. Returns policy is expensive and complicated.

Took about 3 weeks to arrive and very heavy and "nylony"

Wish I had checked Trustpilot before ordering! Took about 3 weeks to arrive. Blouses I ordered were a different shape to the ones advertised. Advertised blouses were longer at the back (which I like), ones delivered were same length all the way round. I knew they were going to be polyester and expected them to be lightweight and flimsy. They are not, they are heavy and made of a dense material which reminds me of the "nylony" stuff cheap catering uniforms are made of. Returns policy requires you to return the product to the manufacturer in China which I did not notice before ordering, if I had I would not of continued with the order. I decided to keep the items as I suspect the returns will be very problematic, but I do not expect to get a lot of wear out of them before they go off to the local charity shop. £70+ for a lesson learned. Will not be ordering anything else from them.

Not what it seems, DO NOT BUY

Not what it seems. I thought I would check it out via search engines, rather than just social media, found a lovely story about 2 York ladies, non of its true.

They are not based in York or anywhere in the UK, my item did arrive, but broken, no chance of a refund, eventually managed to get a replacement sent but it takes a lot of haggling.

Do not buy from them

I stupidly ordered without checking the…

I stupidly ordered without checking the poor reviews:
It took 3 weeks for my shirt to arrive.
The quality was nasty - polyester and cheaply made.
The sizing was completely wrong - enormous.
I asked for a refund and they just gave me money off for next time. There will not be a next time!

Can’t believe I fell for it

Can’t believe I fell for it! EIGHT emails so far saying ‘it’s on its way’ with no sign of it ever having been on its way at all. Just glad I only bought 1 item to check it out. NB it has identical sites internationally all same AI rubbish. What an idiot 🙃
Update 4 April. They’ve now sent 10 emails including one trying to get me to buy more stuff!! Still no sign of the original order of course.
Final update - it actually arrived! And … it was horrible - cheap plasticky fabric and TINY.

STAY WELL AWAY FROM EDITH AND MAE

STAY WELL AWAY FROM EDITH AND MAE
SHOCKING QUALITY AND NO ACCEPTABLE RETURN POLCY WHATSOEVER
I ordered shoes supposedly reduced from £100 to £50
They weren’t good quality at all and didn’t fit either so I wanted a refund.
Some hope!
After countless emails back and forth (mainly generic formatted ones from them I think) I had to settle for a 40% refund… which I’ve yet to receive…and keep the shoes.
They started by offering a 10% refund and keep the shoes.
If I’d returned the shoes I’d have had to post them to China … would have cost a fortune.
They don’t care whether they get the shoes back or not which just proves that they’re rubbish quality and once they’ve got your money they’re in the driving seat.

Not based in York UK

Update ****** Stay away from this store!!!!! It is a total SCAM shop, the York shop doesn't exist, the item i finally received was utter rubbish, all it was fit for was the bin........had to go through the bank, for a full refund.....under the consumer act 2015, you are entitled to a full refund if,the item you received is not fit for purpose, or as described.....STAY AWAY...

delivery is supposedly due, I really wish I'd seen these reviews before I placed an order, I've emailed a couple of times and have had prompt replies. They also don't have a store in York, on my email I was told they are UK based. I shall wait till the end of the week before contacting my bank.

Don’t fall for the lovely website photos

Less than one star, I fell for it. I will check here first before ordering anything from anywhere. The items I ordered eventually arrived so that is a plus! Awful make SHEIN look like luxury items. The website leads you to believe a shop in York run by two lovely ladies, it is not. The dresses are awful fabric and badly made, unwearable. To return them will cost in excess of £25. Assuming they arrive and any form of credit is given. Vanessa Mayfair appear to be the same people another one I have fallen for in my search for my mother of the bride dress 😩
