Requested a refund for 2 gift cards.. underway was the response. Minths later. Repeated requests. Still nothing. Just AI replies. Do not purchase from Eb Games anywhere.

DO NOT purchase from EB games online

DO NOT purchase from EB games online! i bought a brand new mouse from their website (or so I thought), the picture was advertising a brand new mouse in its branded box, the product name was advertising a brand new mouse, everything about the listed product was advertising a brand new mouse. BUT for some reason I have received a dirty used mouse in an unbranded box marked by eb games. What is going on??!! and now they want me to drive 4 hours to get my refund sorted?? This retailer is dying and dying quick, NO WONDER WHY!

Rotorua staff aren't very good at…

Rotorua staff aren't very good at customer service, they're moody and dismissive and that's before you even talk to them for help, and they only get worse once you talk to them it's almost like talking to Napoleon Dynamite in adult form, they're annoying and pathetic, order your stuff online people or buy from somewhere else, I will be. Date of experience: every bloody time I go in.

hmm.

I love eb games and I try to be a loyal customer. They sell some really cool stuff. I'm 17 and have frequently gotten turned away when wanting to purchase an r18 game. Game ratings by definition are supposed to protect CHILDREN from being exposed to inappropriate content, research evidence supports that traces of bullying and violent behavior were found in CHILDREN who played violent video games. I'm mature enough to decide if I can handle a video game with weapons, blood, swearing, or horror. I'm surprised parental consent doesn't cut it considering parent's can consent to you drinking alcohol under 18? which causes a lot more injuries and harm than I've ever heard of violent video games causing. I can go to other stores that don't ask for ID, generally stores just advise you not to purchase the game, but the issue is they're usually a bit more expensive. I understand people have probably complained about this before, and it's probably just a requirement of the staff, but it's frustrating and quite degrading in the shop to be told no at the counter and turned away when someone a few months older than me can walk in and purchase the same game. I totally understand if a child or young teen was wanting to purchase a graphic/explicit video game and staff told them no, because they're not mature enough. All I'm saying is would recommend but beware of the strict age policy, you could go to other shops and get the same game with no stress. I'd love to purchase from EB games more but the over the top age restrictions put me off.

Not That Bad

I generally, and, would always leave good reviews and hardly will I write something against anyone. If I am not happy or satisfied with someone that I will kindly pass my suggestion & move on however in this scenario I would like to pass my comments for EB Games NZ.
Good things about them: location of many Stores, staff being excellent and good amount of variety of things they sell.
Bad things I would like to point out: pricing being so higher than others and so many times I wrote to them or even spoke with someone at their Stores in Auckland that I never get any Birthday Voucher issued at all. I have checked my settings and all are pointing towards it but I have never got a response from them or never ever saw that Birthday Voucher at all. So it looks like, they don't care about on that front. It is ok as it is their Store or Branding they want to run the way they want to run so I cannot complain much. The Price Match thing is also so odd of them. Imagine the amount of money they can make if they were to beat HN or NL or JB and the amount of footfall that would increase if they were to do it effectively.

Top Shop. Veteran Customer.

I've been to maybe 20 different EB Games stores in Sydney, Christchurch and Auckland. Always good customer service, always good deals going on and they have a great selection of hard to get rare preowned games. I must be living in a different dimension cause all I see is bad reviews below me? Lol. I'll be a EB member for life. See you again soon when AC: Mirage drops! 😎

Generally okay but…

Generally, ebgames is alright. The prices are higher than other places by a few dollars, but that’s expected at this point.
Half the time, the staff are incompetent, rude or disconnected. The other half, the staff are excellent, but the bad half is still there. Some of these people may be trainees, but there is no way of knowing as they do not indicate anywhere, and if they did then there wouldn’t be a problem since everyone starts somewhere.
Their stores are also crowded and cramped, and that isn’t entirely accessible for anyone.
Despite this, I am still fairly regular at buying things from eb and I probably will be for a while.

Bought clothing online

Bought clothing online, want to change the size so checked website terms & immediately emailed. 3 days later, EB replied saying they are unable to change the size. Lazy Customer Service with incorrect information.
Will write a formal complaint.
I should have trusted my instincts & not shopped here. Never will again.

“Refurbished” I kind of expected some BS to go on since I’ve been there before…. so at least I wasn’t surprised to find the condition of the system was terrible. I expected the gloss black to be bad but I did not expect it to be filled with dust and with a psp memory stick shoved in the SD card slot (clearly previous owner). I was offered a replacement System that I already knew they didn’t have.. but I did really just call them to applaud them on their consistency anyway. The system wasn’t even clean externally so calling that refurbished is surely illegal… if not it’s at least immoral. I avoid them whenever possible I suggest doing the same to anyone thinking of going.

Amorous staff??!!

The only staff member on duty was busy kissing and cuddling his girlfriend, in the middle of the store?
Botany outlet, mid-morning on Saturday 11/03.
Truly a new low in customer experience for anyone other than said girlfriend. I won't be going back to this store and will spend my money at a rival retailer.

Missing item from sale...

I brought a nintendo switch game online it was "pre-owned" it was 13$ off the brand new price. unfortunately to my discovery, the game was missing its instruction manual (not mentioned in the sale). So I contacted them to ask if it came with one or if I could get one. They replied that it comes how it is and they cant help rectify this. Be wary of buying goods from EB Games and make sure you check before you walk out of the store with your items, as in my case they were less then satisfactory.

Honestly the worst customer service around

After months of rude employees pointlessly directing me to the website when I enquired about purchasing a PS5, I finally had a staff member actually tell me the specific time of day that pre orders go on the site and I managed to get a pre order set for the 28th of October. Now on the day its supposed to be picked up, without any warning, the 'estimated date' of arrival for the console has now updated to the 18th of November. Customer service are no help and just say the shipment must have been delayed. Its ridiculous that they are able to sell products with a date of arrival and then not meet that date. I have paid in full for the product. Glad to see that they are suffering major quarterly losses and will likely not be around much longer. It's a direct reflection of the service they provide.

There is a reason why EB Games has just…

There is a reason why EB Games has just a bad reputation, I should have known better. I purchased online as it said the item was in stock, a board game that is $280! I went in to pick it up but because the store manager went to have a break right in the middle of the busy time the young lady left in charge did not click process in time so it cancelled the order. Their solution was for me to cancel the order and buy it again, knowing that I won’t get the money back for 10 days in other words buying it twice. Useless systems, undertrained un-empathetic staff. Do yourself a favour and go anywhere else.
