Dillenger began in 2007 when the founders of a small Aussie-based engineering firm were looking to build a custom bike frame made from an intricate arrangement of stainless steel rods. This seemly ‘run-of-the-mill’ hobby project led to the intriguing thought – ‘should we motorize this thing?’ Being engineers, the temptation to motorize anything was just too much to bear. This prototype vintage space frame chassis electric bike proved to be a bit of a hit and the company was asked to produce a few models locally for existing clients. One thing led to another and before long, this engineering firm was obsessed with everything electric bike related. Later in 2007, Dillenger Pty Ltd was registered as a company in Queensland, Australia. The following years led to steady, conservative growth, selling limited models locally in Queensland, Australia. Sales often took a back seat to the development of new, better-engineered models. This strategy limited Dillenger’s growth early on, but also meant that production models developed quickly and became the most reliable in a market of otherwise notoriously unreliable products. New technology in batteries, brushless motors and intelligent motor controllers led to huge improvements in the quality and reliability of electric bikes from 2008 to 2010. Even more recently, the reduction in the cost of basic electric bike components has led to the explosion the e-bike market around the world. With the reduction in cost and increase in the size of the market, there has been a flood of startups importing cheap knock-offs. Already, many businesses seem to come and go, leaving customers in a lurch with no after sales support. Dillenger marks the 7th year of production with the sale of the 10,000th unit since 2007. Dillenger’s market in the last 3 years has exploded. Products are now sold online 24/7, all around the world.

Enjoying the variation of pedal and power, allows more freedom, being able to go further and know that you have the assistance of power to get you to your destination should you tire on the journey.
The battery pack does add a fair amount of weight to the bike but that was to be expected.
I haven’t done too many journeys as yet but I have no complaints or negative comments .
We had good service from Dillinger who answered a myriad of questions prior to our purchase. This is the second kit that we have purchased and we are very satisfied.
Would I recommend ?
Absolutely .... go for it , enjoy the ride
Very good product.
I'm commuting to work (12km per day) I can do that with only one charge, however, the first two days I'm using the third level and the last days increasing up to 6. The nominal power is perfect, I can go through hills I would be sweating with just a little effort. No problems while fitting the kit (everything is on the manual). I had to take out some bolts to fit the motor in my bike and it was explained in the manual (the hydraulic brakes bolts). The customer service is good and they give support. The only advice I would give you is that if you have to make a good research about the sizes to avoid troubles while fitting the motor. You can measure your bike and see the specs of the motor, etc. So far (I'm ending my first month) no troubles and Happy with the kit.
Great service - A part was missing on delivery but Iris was super efficient in getting it sorted.
Great product, easy to install and works really well.
The only reason for me that it is not a 5 star review is because I need fairly detailed written instructions. Video's don't do it for me.
Helpful answering my questions before purchase. Understanding the measurements you have to check can be a bit difficult when you don’t know much about bikes (like me) but it all turned out well. Working great now, thanks lads!
I ordered the Premium kit from Dillenger, works great and delivery was fast. Took me a little while to understand how to change the speed limit but that's all sorterd now
The kit was easy to fit a second time and just need to take your time.
Good product, quick delivery, support is timely.
Great service and responsive customer service
Only problem was receiving second package that was missing the controller. While i didn’t mention the controller had a rattle that was a loose screw in the housing that I had to remove - does this invalidate my warranty opening it to remove?
Excellent all around. My only contribution to improved installation instructions is this: highlight that the thicker part of the torque washer faces down to the ground. Otherwise, it may feel like the dropouts need further filing to get the axle to fit, when such as not the case. Other than that a very fine experience.
Great product - we bought two kits. Small issue with sensor and crank compatibility on one (Cube) bike but resolved by local bike shop. The performance is excellent, highly impressed. It’s an ‘add in’ product, so one has to accept the runs of visible wiring, but it’s not too obtrusive.
I installed the Premium off road 500watt motor.
I found the process of retro fitting the unit on to my old MTB to be fairly straight forward.
I am enjoying the performance of the kit very much. The high torque makes hills and wind a non concern.
The Dillinger unit is very good value for money.
Good value and so far reliable product that has transformed my cycling experience. Minor adjustments required to fit but every bicycle is slightly different and I did expect this
Quite expensive but I had few problems fitting the kit to Xootr Swift folding bike. Pleased with the performance.
Great motor. I really appreciate the prompt response to my questions, Remember they are in Australia and there is a time shift.
I bought more battery than I need. A smaller one would be lighter. It is fun to motor away from barking dogs.
Quick shipping. Nice quality product. I had an issue with one component but they helped ship me a replacement.
I was totally new to eBikes. I watched a few reviews on YouTube and decided the Dillenger 36 volt Street Legal system was what I wanted in price and performance. It arrived on time and the installation went well. The performance exceeded my expectations. The battery range really surprised me. Without trying I get 50+ miles on a charge using an old, heavy, steel Schwinn. If I buy another kit it will be a Dillenger.
