TERRIBLE experience with both the product and customer service. Just before my vacation, I received my boots and was immediately disappointed: they were dull in color and looked more like old boots. They look nothing like what is shown on the website or Instagram. For €300 and how they are presented online, you would expect a beautiful pair of boots. I understand the “vintage” concept, but this is unacceptable.
The company responded as follows: “The leather we use is made with a natural tanning process, which means that every delivery we get—even of the same color—is slightly lighter or darker naturally, as we don’t use paint or plastic on top of the leather to correct the color, but this is also what gives this natural look where every batch is unique. Regarding the refund—you didn’t follow our return instructions by shipping the boots back in a shipping box, but instead without any protection at all. It is clearly stated that the shoe box is a part of the product and any damages will be subtracted from the refund.”
Later, they added: “We can check if we have another pair that is more even in texture and color we can exchange to, if you would like us to do that, but if you don’t like the vintage look, I wouldn’t recommend an exchange.” I indicated that I would like a different pair, but they never followed up.
I received the boots in the late afternoon and left for my vacation that same evening. Since there was no time to email them, I could not obtain a return label. The return had to be made within 20 days, but I would be away for 21 days, so there was a lot of urgency (last few hours before my holiday). Even though, I noticed that the company offers free exchanges within the EU; I wanted a different pair, but this was never further addressed. I had to pay €22.30 to return the boots for a refund.
In addition, €20 was deducted for “incorrect packaging” of the shoe box, which is ridiculously high, as the boots were neatly packed in original shoebox with protective paper (the boots were protected). Customer service showed no understanding and only offered an exchange of 280euro, while my complaint about the poor quality of the boots and the misleading presentation on the website was completely ignored.
Unfortunately, this was a very poor experience with a company selling expensive shoes. This bad experience costed me 42,30 euro’s!
