I am trying to cancel my membership for a gym I'm with. I have made phone calls sent emails with the information they have requested and still they haven't cancelled it. My friend is also having the same problem. We are getting sick and fed up with all the hassle. If they don't sort it out soon we will be taking advice.

Also had a direct debit requested this morning. Cancelled it straight away as I know for certain I have not set up a direct debit for this companyor any in the last 2 months. I do not have a gym membership. I have my own gym at home. This is disgusting. Where did you even obtain peoples private financial details from? I suspect a massive breach of GDPR which is being reported to the ICO. Also alerted the Royal banks pf Scotland to you and they are investigating from this request and this following thread.
You can report these people to the FCA as they authorised by them, you can also report them to companies House for investigation, I cannot post links so Google "complain about a company, companies house" and it will be the first result you find guys.
The ICO and Action Fraud have also been made aware.
Your time is up Nathan and Scott 😁 and please don't send the bot to respond.

I've just discovered a direct debit, from debit finance has been taken from my account. I don't have, and have never had a gym/leisure industry membership, so no idea where this came from. Can I claim it back?

Reply from Debit Finance Collections Plc
Again never signed up for a gym membership - but have had a direct debit payment deducted from my account. You just cannot do this - it is nothing short of theft. times are hard enough without people randomly taking money that they are not entitled too

I've had payments been coming out of my account now for 7 months not realising who it was ! From what I gather others have been saying it's for a gym membership but I've never ever been part of a gym and have no idea what it's for !!! There doesn't seem to be a cancel button on the dd either absolute scam. Will be reporting to bank and fraud and requesting money back

Same as the majority of reviews.
Signed up to a local gym to discover they would be closing for refurbishment for quite some time. I was advised I was in the cooling off period and it would be cancelled.
Stupidly I assumed that was it, however the Direct Debit continued to be taken for the next six months.
I spoke to DFC who confirmed this was cancelled at the time and to speak to my bank regarding the Direct Debit. After informing my bank they advised to carry out a Direct Debit Indemnity claim, which they did.
After speaking to an advisor, he confirmed he would cancel the full balance providing I had email evidence confirming the above, which I did and the response I received was the colleague was referring to another membership and to make payment in full. Clearly given the reviews this seems to be a process for this company.
Thankfully we have the ombudsman to resolve these matters.

This company is a scam.
They collect for a gym I was a member of before the pandemic. Despite my membership being cancelled (and in some cases the gym actually being closed) they continue to collect by direct debit. I cancel the direct debit. They re initiate it.
They do not respond to email correspondence requesting a refund.

This company is nothing short of a fraudulent cover up. I signed up to my gym in July 2019, on a 36 month contract with a 12 month minimum period.
Initially payments continued to be taken during lockdown despite being told they would stop. I then contacted the company to be told that it was my choice to not be using the facilities- they were legally closed, I couldn’t use them if I wanted to!
When I wanted to cancel in June 2022 I was told that o wasn’t allowed to unless I had good reason (moving away, medical condition, etc.). This didn’t sound right to me so I found my contract which clearly said I could “buy out” at any point after my minimum period. I was quoted a price using completely the wrong numbers to calculate my buy out cost. I was promised on 3 occasions that a manager would call me back, and all all 3 occasions I heard nothing. In this time further payments have been taken as this company is so incompetent they cannot even cancel memberships in accordance with the contracts they issue.
Finally today I got the most helpful employee I had spoken to at this god forsaken company, who was able to recalculate how much I owe to cancel (which matched what I had worked out), take the payment, and confirm that I had nothing left to owe. This has taken 2 months to achieve.
I am now awaiting a refund for the payments that we’re taken since initially trying to cancel.
DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL DO ANYTHING TO TAKE MORE MONEY THAN THEY ARE ENTITLED TO. I will be reporting to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards

I stopped payments, phoned DFC, they said they would email the gym, who I had cancelled DD 2018. Many calls to DFC, each month, they never got back to me. Spoke to my bank who said they could do an Indemnity claim, they did. Then I get a letter from DFC, within days sending me to a debt collector. For my money they have taken from me, for a gym membership I cancelled in 2018. I will be talking to the Ombudsman

Absolute sham of a company. I have proof in my bank account of never having a direct debit taken or cancelled with this company. They are now demanding £110 for apparently cancelling my daughters’ swimming lesson direct debits of £20, which I have NEVER done. Dirty.
I’ve tried calling and get left on the line. Now I’m being threatened with debt collectors. I think not!
I’ll be reporting this company like many others before to the financial ombudsman. How you’re still operating as a company I’ve no idea and how anyone working for this company sleeps well on a night is beyond me! Disgusting.

My wife and I were charged £15 each for cancelling gym membership. They suggest " If it is your intention to cancel we require the unpaid instalment plus 1 month's notice as stipulated in your original Direct Debit instruction." This is the first time I was charged for cancelling a Direct Debit. This is very disappointing. Be more transparent, notify your customers if something is not norm.

Discusting company!
Sent me multiple emails saying my direct debit bounced....probably because I had NO MONEY in my account...so instead like with most companies they would contact you to discuss....NOPE not these!
Instead they add more fees on top!
So now I owe £60....Good luck...I aren't paying you a penny!
What a disgrace prey on people with no money...try all you want but you won't be getting nothing from me...how can I give what I haven't got!
How about try help people instead of keeping charging extra moneym I've tried for 3 weeks to contact you with no bloody luck! You clearly have my email and phone number but no instead you'd prefer to make more money!

Absolute disgrace of a company.
Cancelled my gym membership 3 years ago and now just received an email saying I have missed the payment for July 2022.
Demanding I pay £15 for this late payment and if I want to cancel my membership (which I already have) then I will need to pay a further 2months.
How are this company getting away with stealing peoples money like this?

Reply from Debit Finance Collections Plc
Good Evening , I’ve received an Incorrect notice of unpaid direct debit. Cancellation was made via the website. I then received an email from DFC to say I had to fill out the same form on the 1Life website again which has caused the cancellation to be late. Related to Reference Number: 765103AM8893. Could I please speak to somebody about this to resolve.
