Where do I start
From start to finish, my time at Dandi on the Hill was incredibly frustrating. To begin with, my move-in date was set, only for them to push it back the same week without proper notice. When I finally arrived, the flat wasn't even ready, which set the tone for the rest of my stay. Even worse, the small patio, which was advertised as part of the flat, was still unfinished when I left.
The hallway was painted with an overwhelmingly strong-smelling paint without any prior warning, and as I was pregnant at the time, I had to stay elsewhere at my own cost. They promised to install a towel rail in the bathroom, but that never materialised. Along with a few other issues.
When it came to repairs and maintenance, they were incredibly slow. Some issues went unresolved completely. One day, the power went out, and I couldn’t get my appliances to work. I called the out-of-hours helpline, who promised to send an emergency guy—but no one ever showed up even though I waited up into the early hours. The worst part? All the food in my fridge went bad, and they promised to send me an £80 voucher to replace it, which never came.
My oven was also out of order due to the power cut, and I went for two months without a working oven, despite chasing them constantly. In the end, I had to buy an air fryer just to cook. It was honestly unbelievable.
On a positive note, Adina, a member of the management team, was helpful. Lavina was also friendly, which was a rare bright spot in this whole experience.
Moving out was a nightmare. Deposits are handled by a third party, and it’s been nothing but a problem to get it back. They incorrectly claimed I hadn’t paid some utilities, despite me having a receipt. It’s now March, and I still haven’t received my full deposit, even though I moved out in November....
Finally, let’s talk about the rent. For a tiny studio flat, the rent was extortionate, making this whole experience even more frustrating. I wasted so much money there.
Overall, this was by far the worst rental experience I’ve ever had. The only upside was the location—it’s very close to the tube, but that’s about it.
