First my rigs were 1 year late (not entirely Compass's fault because of lockdowns in China in 2021)
But the facility space I was promised (which was in the advertising) wasn't ready. They redirected 3 of my rigs to Canada in April of 2021 (4 months after they promised delivery).
I waited another year for them to get a Texas facility up and running to get those units hashing.
The company said "we're not compensating clients for the tardiness". Seriously! Not even a free month of hashing. NOTHING!
In the meantime, the facility rates go up and they don't give compensation for that either. I understand they don't control energy prices, but the agreement sheet clearly stated 1 full year of hashing at a specific price.
I point this out to their rep and he says "that's an advertisement, not a hosting agreement." Okay, so now there's no responsibility to follow through on promises made in advertising? It was a difference of like $30 per month for 5 months... and they wouldn't even eat that... after I waited a year for them to deliver units promised.
Then, I have a rig that continues to break and underhash because of a control board issue.
I agreed to have it fixed, it took 10 MONTHS (no exaggeration, I have proof) for them to fix it and get the rig back online.
Then, 3 months after that... it breaks again! Of course - no warranty. So I agree to have it fixed... and it takes 10 months AGAIN! (Again, I have proof)
I had to threaten to retain legal counsel in order to get them to finally get the rig fixed and placed back into service (a job that takes an afternoon).
Now that exact rig broke a 3rd time, same issue - control board... this time I declined to fix it. It's clearly throwing good money after bad at this point.
Now, the rigs that were placed in Canada have to be moved and of course, that's a total nightmare. There's ZERO communication from them. Every time I ask them about the progress - they send me a liability waiver to sign that I've already signed 3 times! I show them that I've signed it 3 times and they simply ignore me.
Just NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EVEN CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. They are sloppy, inconsiderate, they don't deliver on promises, they make no effort whatsoever to make things right and they will leave you high and dry.
I've never been treated worse... and they could not care less. Just DCA and HODL - you'll be lightyears ahead.

Horrible horrible horrible DO NOT USE - I purchased a S19 Pro in May 2025. Started hashing on June 5th. It started off ok but not super stable. I requested to switch pools to SpiderPool - that apparently takes 2 weeks and several tickets. Since July my miner is offline, Iowa4 one of their newest facilities is constantly down. The only responses I get are we are looking into to and thank you for your patience. In the meantime if I don't pay the hosting fees I lose the miner. They people do not care one bit about clients or providing a trustworthy service. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
Response to reply: I have not received any email from compassmining asking for more details. I received the message below to my open ticket. The same promise was made on Jul 6th and yet we are still here offline.
Hi,
I hope this message finds you well.
I completely understand your frustration and allow me to help you out. I see that your miner hogi is currently offline and this has been queued for diagnosis. I’ll have the monitoring team provide you with updates for the affected miner. To assist you further, We have place you on our temporary miner request waiting list so that our Deployment team can provide a temp unit as soon as possible while they work for the issue to be resolved.
Kindly know that we do cover the hosting costs for anything below 95% uptime on a miner in a calendar month. You can find more information on this in our Facility Credits FAQ
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to get miner back online. This ticket remains open.
Kind Regards,
Liz

I have been trying to contact someone to resolve issues with the account and start hashing again.
I have talked to someone and been given the run around for the invoices and so much discrepency in the downtime credits etc..
I just want to warn others who are trying to signup. I have been with them for 3 years now and there is always issues after one another. Downtime, miner repairs, hosting facility down, and so on so on and I need to be understanding but when i have a problem, they are not responding to the queries and treat you badly. I have spent atleast $50k with them so far.

I officially now mine Bitcoin !!
Colby at Compass Mining guided me through the end-to-end procedure. Super helpful ! I ended up purchasing a S21 Hydro and was up and running in no time. Colby assisted with configuring my hashrate toward Ocean pool and pulling block templates from my own self-hosted Datum server. Really enjoyed learning how to do this.
The user experience on Compass is totally turn-key. Grateful that my first bitcoin mining experience has been a success and I'm supported by industry experts! Highly recommended!!

Am so happy i use this company WhatsApp number written in my bio photo to reclaim back my fund's and it's was a success
Much improved service and reliability
Have been a Compass customer for awhile and at one point was frustrated enough that I switched to one of their competitors as my main provider for miners and hosting, but I have noticed continuous improvement from their support, sales and finance teams over time and they have been winning back my business.
Colby has been great as a main point of contact - responsive, helpful and flexible.

Colby at Compass mining was a great help and went above and beyond to help secure a new L9 for me while trading in my existing L7's. He's a great asset to the company and you should utilize him when you can.

This company is a total Fraud. Do not buy or host anything with them. You might loose everything invested

This is by far the worst company ever. They lost one of my ASIC and they are "trying to do something about it" from more than 3 years. Now they are asking $966 as shipping fee to ship one ASIC to me (2 months ago they asked "just" $289). In addition, to receive a refund of unused credits, they require a bank account, able to receive payments from US: A BITCOIN COMPANY THAT DOESN'T ALLOW TO RECEIVE PAYMENTS IN BITCOIN.
Stay away from them!

This company has been asking me money since the very beginning, selling me hardware that never performed once. I basically ran at loss since bitcoin was at 20k, and kept running at loss when bitcoin reached 100k. Their sales team just sells you the best business plan ever, which never worked. They keep charging you with latency fee if you are one day late for payment and come up with random 'repair' for the machine that will cost you 150$ + 200$ for shipment.

UPDATE: After a few emails sent to Compass, I will give them credit, they responded fairly to me and have agreed to remove my miner from retirement protocol and are honoring their commitment to make things right. Thus I am updating this experience to a positive one. There are still a few more steps involved but, so far, they have been fair once I brought the errors to their attention. Thus, I have updated my rating accordingly. I will stay optimistic that this closes out quickly.
PREVIOUS:
To begin, I am putting two stars here but will update this review and give Compass more stars if this situation is resolved quickly, fairly, and equitably. I have been loyal to Compass for more than 4 years (including Compass's extremely rocky start during the pandemic where they took over 13 months to bring s19 units online after collecting $$ from me) - I was understanding because I knew that there were crazy ASIC chip backorders and supply chain issues. But over the years there have been many ups and downs. Here we are in another big Down. A week ago I received notice that they would be unilaterally altering the terms of their Hosting Agreements and if we elected to not accept these new terms, they would cancel the hosting Agreement. So, since I did not agree to the new terms, I followed their instructions and asked to cancel my Agreement. Then they sent me a "retirement contract" asking me to irrevocably sign over rights to my equipment - meaning my personal property would simply be handed over to Compass or an unidentified "Buyer" as they framed it? Then my miner was taken offline and I have not received a single reply from their customer service team for the last few days with roughly 3-4 emails sent to them, now all unanswered. This seems odd and perhaps this retirement agreement was a "standard boilerplate" agreement that was sent to me in error. I hope so. Compass has usually "done the right thing" in the past and has historically returned my equipment to me when my Hosting Agreement came to an end, so I am hopeful that they take the high road and do the right thing here. Please do the right thing here, Compass. If you do, then I will re-rate my experience and give you a better rating. Usually in the end you are honorable, in my experience. So, I am trusting you here.

Considering my losses with compassmining, i did nit write this with much joy. I hope they respond after this review because i expected the reimbursement in accordance with their marketing, but nothing has been said for 6 weeks. I'm now on HILLBILLY in the interim. Dependable and steady round the clock payment.

Sofar no issues, Colby was very friendly and took his time with me. I have only been hashing since 1 Day, therefore i can't judge on this Miner-moving issue, that other experience.

Been using Compass Mining for 4 years. Horrible experience all around: awful management, missed deadlines, do not care about current customers it’s all about signing up new people. Compass also does not over see most of their mining facilities, its third party, who care even less.
Initially I was informed my miners were just at the Texas facility waiting to be turned on. Then it was they weren’t even there. Then it was they needed to be moved out of the original Texas facility to other facilities. All the while other people’s miners were being fired up and brought online at the facility that my miners were supposedly sitting at.
Compass is a joke. They will nickel and dime you to death while providing minimal to no service. It’s hard enough getting any kind of answers from them, much less actual solutions.
tl/dr took years to get initial miners actually hashing. Never buy / host internationally. Giant waste of time and money. Avoid at all cost.

Since 2021, I've spent around $41,000 for 6 mining machines, $1,600 on mining repairs, an additional $800 in utility fees PER MONTH, and only mine around $700 of bitcoin per month (and that's when there isn't miner downtime bc the facilities too hot to Hash, the miner is awaiting repairs, or the miner isn't being moved from facility to facility for no apparent reason). Miner names get changed so I'm not even confident where my original miners are or if the repairs I'm paying for are even mine or if the damage ocurred from all of the unnecessary movement to diff facilities. They don't have
onsite repairs so you are charged $200 each time they ship out for repairs. Customer support confuses/duplicates tickets all the time, seemingly on purpose. Even if this company isn't a scam, there entire operation makes you feel like it is. Who even knows if the payouts are legit or if they are skimming off the top. Makes you wonder.

I invested $440,000 in mining equipment with the expectation that it would operate for 4 years. Unfortunately, the equipment spent around 3.5 years being relocated between different facilities, which meant I only had a few months of actual mining. Additionally, I had to wait 6 months for the company to bring the equipment online. Eventually, I was forced to retire the equipment, as it was no longer viable. When I attempted to sell it, I found it had no value on the market. I had to report this to Rose Lane GP. Based on my experience, I would caution others when considering this company.

Colby is very knowledgeable, able to fill in the gaps in my bitcoin knowledge, explaining the significance of different mining pools and answer all of my questions. He also went to a great extent to provide the best possible order configurations to work within my parameters.
