Bus drivers extraordinaire
Booking was simple; producing the contract was straightforward.
What was wonderful? Both of the bus drivers - we had some challenges in New York City, with traffic, a minor mechanical issue with one bus and some horrific weather one day. The bus drivers rose to the occasion, ensuring all passengers not only safe - but happy!

Poor performance and unacceptable service
Poor corporate internal communications between Sales and Operations led to drivers and dispatch not having a copy of the itineraries (that were provided well ahead of the dates of service) covering the three days of service. As the client, we had to again provide the itineraries to the dispatcher and to the drivers onsite on the first day of the service. The drivers were friendly and eager to please. Even after providing the drivers with the itineraries and ample time to research the routes, they still did not know the route to travel to the destination(s). Our on-board staff had to direct the drivers along the way over the three days of service. Although Coach Canada provided us with a credit on the invoice after we notified them of the issues, the fact remains that this was unacceptable service and poor performance. We do not recommend this company.

Our group from Birthright of Toronto was treated with great courtesy, patience, promptness and efficiency by those who looked after the booking and the drivers who picked us up, drove us to the CN Tower and back to the Airport Marriott.

Even though we booked our trip more than a month in advance, 10 days prior to our trip they called to let us know that we had to either change our itinerary or add a driver for an extra $565 since our trip exceeded the on-duty time for one driver. Due to commitments we had on either end of our trip window, unfortunately we were unable to make changes. I was disappointed that they didn't give some sort of concession for their error in agreeing to our original contract that added an extra $565 to our bill.
That being said, we especially liked the driver that took us to our destination, and our group has requested him again.

Issues were resolved well
Although the bus that was supposed to pick us up had mechanical issues and wasn't able to get us, Coach Canada used 3 limos to pick us up. We were an hour late, but we were riding in style.

Poor bus maintenance & poor handling of complaints.
I’m happy to be invited to do this survey, even though it’s almost three (3) years since I used Coach Canada - charter# 132824 - trip date July 18, 2015. As the saying goes, "better late than never".
The experience was NOT GOOD.
Since then, I’ve been using Denny Bus Lines for my group’s annual bus trips. Great service and great prices!
The problem I experienced with Coach Canada, on July 18, 2015, was with the bus A/C and the P/A system. Neither was functioning, at all!
And the other problem was the tardiness and poor customer service I received, after I complained.
I still have the emails. I'd like to share the highlights of what was transcribed, in a chronological order.
Jul. 28 - I emailed my dissatisfaction to Devin McManus, my Sales Rep
“My message is long overdue, but I wanted to provide some feedback.
Derek was a great driver. He was very personable and easy going and, above all, a great safe driver.
I need to let you know that the A/C was not working. I and many others were soaked in sweat.
The PA system was also not working, so I had to stand up and do the balancing act, to make announcements and provide info.”
Overall, we were disappointed with Coach Canada. As hot and muggy as it was on Saturday, July 18th, not having A/C was a real turn off.
Please pass this message to your superiors. I’m hoping they will consider giving a discount for the bus shortcomings.”
Jul. 28 - Devin responded within a couple of hours with “I have forwarded your request to my manager”.
Aug. 30 - As I had not heard from anyone, I sent Devin a follow-up.
Sep. 9 - Email from Devin “Management has informed me that we are waiting on a report from maintenance”.
Sep. 18 - Email from Devin
“I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have had to do some follow up with this issue and had to wait for different departments to get back to me.
I am sorry you’re a/c was not working on July 18 for your trip. I wish someone had made a call into our office so that we could have tried to rectify the problem that day.
I have been approved to offer you a $100 service credit for this inconvenience on your charter. In future if you have any issues with your charters please call into our office right away. We are open 24/7 for any issues. We want our customers to have the best experiences they can and enjoy the trip they go on. If we are not informed of issues we cannot help to fix them.
I have sent the service credit to our accounting department and they will be in touch with you as to how they will apply the credit.”
Oct. 10 - My response to Devin
“I’m disappointed with your suggestion. We were heading to the Kitchener area from Mississauga at 7 am. It was NOT hot enough to notice that the A/C was not functioning. For Coach Canada to rectify the problem that day would seem unfeasible. Would you have sent out a new bus? How would that impact our schedule for the day?
Does your mechanics department not follow a maintenance check on each bus before it’s sent out on the road? If yes, then the a/c and the PA system should have been picked up as not working.”
Note: My VISA account was credited with $100 soon afterwards.
SUMMARY:
Putting the onus on the customer to report these bus problems on the day of the trip was a real turn off.
It seems to me that it is the responsibility of the mechanics/bus maintenance service people to check the bus before it’s off on another trip. Also, it is the responsibility of the drivers to report problems.
Coach Canada? Never again, as long as there are other better companies.
