Great teachers and a method of teaching that is really fun!

Citizens Cafe delivers comprehensive, quality instruction. Highly skilled instructors meet students where they are, providing strategies and making accommodations to insure success. In addition to direct lessons, various learning modules are offered that permit students to reinforce skills taught in class. Flash cards, Practice to Go, and Class Notes can be accessed at any time, supporting progress.

I have enjoyed every moment of my time with Citizen Cafe. The teachers are so patient and it is a brilliant system.

I’ve been taking their courses for over 4 years! I absolutely love their teaching style and method! It really works for me. Citizen cafe is one of a kind. I remember when I first took their class and i immediately noticed the difference after one lesson. That’s why i’m still taking their courses even after all these years! A fabulous pleasant and efficient way to learn Hebrew. It should be transposed for other languages. I have never seen such an amazing method and I learnt 5 languages apart from my mother language.

I really wanted to learn Hebrew but I was afraid to start. Afraid it would be too hard and afraid I would quit midway or that it would be overwhelming. A young Hebrew teacher in the US highly recommended Citizen Cafe to me after I expressed my desire to learn and my previous hesitation. She was so spot on!!! It is such a warm, welcoming, nonjudgmental and comfortable program and I enjoy every single class. There are so many easy tools to use with the program and I am learning quickly and solidly. There are flash cards and daily practice groups you can sign up for, all included. We all make mistakes as we learn but the program and instructors are so understanding and they simply repeat the correct way and have everybody repeat the correct way on mute, so you never feel singled out. Even when they call on us individually they immediately help and often just have you repeat the correct answer after them. Everyone in class is leveled and we are all in it together. It is worth every penny!!! I signed up for two semesters, as there is a price break and could have signed up for 3 but wasn’t sure at the time. I am so glad I signed up for the two and wish I did for 3 because I will continue throughout the program!! I highly highly recommend this online program to anyone who really wants to learn Hebrew in a fun and non pressure class situation!

Learning Hebrew at Citizen Café TLV has been an experience greater than what I anticipated and easier than I thought.
I was very nervous at first but as the classes developed it got easier by the day. The teachers are terrific, patient fun and very encouraging. Taking advantage of the additional practice classes and all the available material is more helpful than I ever imagined and I feel more confident as the classes continue.
Last but not least, I have made great friends through these classes and have ran into old friends from around the world on the classes as well.

The emphasis on speaking Hebrew is what I need the most. I came into class already being able to read and write Hebrew fairly well. When speaking I tend to stumble all over the place. Having multiple practice sessions that I can attend, in addition to the regular lessons, is a valuable plus. I have attended multiple Ulpanim in the past, both in Israel and the United States, and although I have only been attending classes for a month, I believe Citizen Cafe has the potential for greatly improving my ability to speak. Hearing from multiple teachers in the practice sessions also helps me to understand some of the subtle differences in pronunciation with different Israeli accents. Overall I am very pleased with the program and would highly recommend it to everyone.

I have had a great experience learning Hebrew at Citizen Cafe. It is fun, the small groups include people from all over the world, and the teachers are absolutely the best! They are energetic, patient and ensure that you have the confidence to speak the language. My Hebrew journey didn’t begin with Citizen Café. It began when I was five years old.

One morning, I climbed into my parents’ bed and announced, “I want to go to Hebrew school.” To this day, I have no idea where that desire came from. My parents weren’t religious, and no one had ever suggested it to me. Somehow, I simply knew I wanted to learn Hebrew.

Money was tight. My father was working for his father, who was a tailor, while attending school part-time. Since my parents couldn’t easily afford Hebrew school, my father took me to meet Rabbi Sincoff. Together, they arranged a scholarship so I could attend. That act of kindness began a lifelong love of the Hebrew language.

Over the years, I studied Hebrew on and off, but I always wanted more than the ability to read prayers. I wanted to understand the language, think in Hebrew, and one day have real conversations with Israelis.

That’s what eventually brought me to Citizen Café.

I have studied Hebrew in many different settings over the years, but nothing compares to Citizen Café’s teaching method. Their immersive approach is unlike anything I had experienced before. At first it was challenging, but that challenge is exactly what helped me grow.

Every semester I am amazed by how much I’ve learned. The number of new words, verbs, expressions, and everyday phrases I acquire is unbelievable. Instead of memorizing vocabulary lists, I’m actually using Hebrew in conversation. The classes are energetic, engaging, and enjoyable, and the teachers create an environment where making mistakes is simply part of learning.

Today, at 77 years old, I have completed multiple levels and continue to look forward to every class. Citizen Café has given me far more than vocabulary and grammar. It has strengthened my connection to Israel, enriched my study of Kabbalah, allowed me to enjoy Israeli television and news in a whole new way, and even inspired me to start a weekly Hebrew conversation group so I can continue practicing between classes.

If someone had told that five-year-old little girl that more than seventy years later she would still be joyfully studying Hebrew, I don’t think she would have believed it. Yet here I am, still learning, still growing, and still loving every step of the journey.

Thank you to the entire Citizen Café team. You haven’t just taught me Hebrew—you’ve helped fulfill a dream that began when I was five years old.

I started learning Hebrew on my own about five months before joining citizens Café, and I was amazed at the difference once I enrolled. The lessons are well organized, engaging, and have helped me make much faster progress than I was making on my own.

I have had a great experience with Citizen Cafe. This is my fourth semester now, and I have learned so much. I have taken Hebrew before, even in-person Ulpans. However, I have never had the opportunity and the encouragement to actually speak Hebrew. On top of that, I have met wonderful people, teachers and other classmates. I feel like I've become part of a community of people who value learning Hebrew and being connected to Israel. My classes have become a very important part of my life!!

I benefited greatly from the Hebrew lessons at Citizen Cafe because the teaching style here was different and unique. The main focus was on conversation and speaking the language in a practical way, not only on grammar, which helped me gain more confidence in using Hebrew in daily life.
We were also provided with useful words and expressions that we actually need in everyday situations, in addition to videos and activities that made learning the language easier and more enjoyable. What I appreciated most was having the opportunity to practice conversations within the group itself, which helped break the fear and hesitation of speaking Hebrew.
Another positive aspect was that the group size was small, with no more than 10 participants, giving everyone the chance to participate, ask questions, and interact comfortably. In addition, the teacher was very supportive and understanding of the difficulties and challenges we face while learning Hebrew, and was always ready to help us overcome these challenges.
Overall, it was a very valuable and enjoyable learning experience for me.

I'm with Citizen café for the past few months and I'm loving it! The teachers are truly amazing, enthusiastic and very patient. Citizen café has a unique teaching methodology, which makes learning Hebrew grammar and sentence construction fun and interactive.
