Churchill and their partners - avoid them like a plague!

I would have given -5 if it had been possible.

I had Churchill Home insurance with Home emergency cover. When my boiler stopped working and leaking, I made a call. Churchill's contractor CET sent engineers. The engineers spend some time on the boiler and showed me a plastic tub of water telling me that was the water from my boiler and it had sludge in it. I didn't see them taking the water from my boiler. They didn't volunteer to show me. They also showed me a second tub of water that was completely dark. The image was used to defend their case with the Financial Ombudsman. For that reason of the alleged sludge in the water, they refused to pay for my repair.

I called my private engineer the next day and the private engineer showed me the water that came out of my boiler. It was clear! I took photos of the water in a clear tub, the water that had been leaked into the bucket from days ago, the water that came out of the hose the private gas engineer used drain the water from the boiler. Water was clear everywhere I saw. If I had been experienced, I could have checked the water in the bucket against the water sample the CET engineers showed me.

Stay away from Churchill and its partners!!!

Sounded like a South African call…

Sounded like a South African call centre. I know it is BTW. Made a non fault claim, ended up that I would have to pay them £1000.00 to continue my NON FAULT claim. Beyond ridiculously stupid. I am sick to the back teeth of dealing with these Corporate clowns. I had to hang up before it became even more my fault. So be warned. Home of the Great White. Do yourself a big favour and steer clear of this lot.

1st Time ever with Churchill and it…

1st Time ever with Churchill and it will definitely be the last time ever !
Car developed a fault in Under-tray ( no known reason why ?) and needs replacing and Churchill won’t even consider letting me make a Claim
Paid £327 Premium and have £300 excess and this is what I get for my money ??
If we knock this down to basics - I pay an Insurance Company a Premium against things that happen to my Car that need fixed. On top of this Premium I am also caught up in the Compulsory/ Voluntary Scam, whereby, nowadays, Insurance Companies think it’s ok to make some more money out of me ? ( the Excess alone would almost have paid for the Repair !)
And the one time I try to make a claim they refuse and wiggle their way out of doing anything at all ????
Call that a Service ??? I call it theft !
Less than helpful is a vey mild assessment of my interaction with Churchill and the sooner I’m not involved with them at any level, the better

Fantastic Helpful Staff

I recently spoke to both Kesh and Carrie on their bereavement team relating to car insurance following a relatives recent death. As the car was on a public road I had to take out Insurance as a named driver on the existing policy until it was sold on. They were absolutely brilliant. Efficient, respectful and sorted it out for me within a few minutes of my calling them.

Churchill customer gives up after 8 years loyalty. they dont care anymore.

UPDATE - How confused is this site for churchill.com the picture with the Bulldog insurance...? If you read through the reviews, there's a lot of confusion here. Maybe the company changed sites. To move their bad servcie record? I don't know. Somebody enlighten me.

I have been a Churchill customer for eight years. Loyally renewing every year. Not often do I use a call centre or question Price.

But then I noticed a lot of above CPI price. Increases, so this year I called them. I can honestly say the call centre service has gone down a cliff. as seem to move to South Africa, probably in the last few years..?
They have lost that UK connexion to the customer. There was no concern of my increases or real explanation and the outcome, after support conversation was it was increased twice. over a £100. extra.
My previous. Recollection of calling the UK Centre was very positive and they managed to keep the price the same. So it seems to me that offshoring call centres. Streamlining business and making cuts.

Add to that, the new Churchill Support AI BOT is a completely useless it can't answer 50% of basic questions. Not only infuriating and frustrating. It's an insult to the customer.

I asked it to supply an NCD document for my history with Chuchill. It couldn't even offer a solution...

Don't buy for this company. It stinks like Thames Water. Says. And does the opposite...

Absolutely Appalling Experience

Absolutely Appalling Experience – Avoid at All Costs

I am utterly dismayed by the inhumane and rigid treatment I received from this company. After 3 years of being a loyal customer, my policy was abruptly cancelled—not because of a claim, not because of any wrongdoing on the road, but because I forgot to update some new points on a named driver’s record (for speeding a couple of miles over the limit). In the chaos of everyday life, this was an honest oversight. Instead of offering any understanding or flexibility, they chose to cancel my insurance entirely and treat it like it never existed.

There was no attempt to understand my situation, or to resolve the issue—just a cold, automated cancellation. It’s clear this company has no regard for the realities of human life or the basic decency of treating customers with empathy. Their actions were not only disproportionate but deeply disappointing.

If you value fairness, compassion, or even just basic customer service, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. This company has shown me that they care more about ticking boxes than supporting the people who pay them.

Compare before you renew.

Do not renew until you have compared quotes on a comparison website otherwise you will almost certainly be overpaying.
Even if nothing has changed & you have not made a claim they will wack up the price by approx 20%.
Like many others they treat loyal customers with contempt in the hope you are either lazy or stupid.
Go to a comparison website before you renew you are almost certain to save a substantial sum of money.
In my case approx 30% !!!

Churchill Home Plus Insurance is pointless

Churchill Home Plus Insurance failed to provide assistance on Home emergency service, for which they subcontract a company called CET. The experience with both Churchill and CET agents was disappointing from start to end. After escalation and a formal complaint, they still did not perform an investigation based on facts and not their theories and failed to provide the service I paid for. As a result, I will not be renewing any of my insurances with Churchill, neither recommend this company to others.

I had to make a claim to Haier group…

I had to make a claim to Haier group for my washing machine flooding on several occasions plus a leak due Stop C not turned off properly by workmen on another job through the Local Authority . Which one do you fight ( with three different companies at same time ) ?! To save the grief , I went through my Churchill insurance . Although claim has went through , I had a call this morning to say they couldn't assist any further with recovery from company I put claim in to ? Luckily I got my excess back from the domestic appliance insurance company I pay, however that won't pay for value of replacement flooring , so they got off lightly l . Also , this doesn't account for the stress etc . I've been through , just for my premium to no doubt go up . All about the cash , they couldn't care . Look's like you're doing a grand job of hacking off other customers , judging by the reviews .

Poor treatment of customers

Changed my car to a similar model. 4 months left on my current policy. Extra charge calculated and was over double my current monthly payment. Asked what the renewal would be for a full 12 months. Answer? Around £50 extra for the year. So double monthly payments, then less than a fiver for a full 12 months? This makes zero sense unless they are charging me a while year retrospectively for a car I did not own or drive. Pure profiteering as they know I want to drive my new vehicle and am 8 months into a policy I can't cancel. No real explanation given. When risk class of vehicle was discussed they seem to base this purely on the vehicle. So if a glut of bad drivers use the same car as a safe driver the safe driver is financially penalised despite clean history. Sound fair? In the past I have to cancel and renew online as the agents (who are on commission) won't help or explain the disparity between quotes. One told me it was due to high petrol prices. Seems they have a good way to ignore facts to make money, from my standpoint everything they do is loaded 100% to them making money and nothing towards the customer. I am genuinely concerned if I had to deal with these people if anything happened. Can't wait for this policy to end.

Had to cancel my car insurance as…

Had to cancel my car insurance as bought another car, was texting for over an hour, first to a machine, then to a person I think.
Cost over £50 to cancel insurance, hate trying to do business with a machine. All slanted for the convenience of the company not the customer, will not do business with them again.

Consistently dont respond to emails

Consistently dont respond to emails. Ive had to complain 3 x times now. Nothing changes, they dont respond to email.
When i asked why they said they are just starting on April's emails (todays date is 29th April 2025) so they are basically 29 days behind opening customer emails. They have a huge under-resourcing problem/lack of staff to deal with customers, cases, enquiries, legal etc.

Avoid this company - unless you want extremely delayed service or a painful claims experience.

Greedy on admin charges

We recently changed our car. There was an admin fee for doing this, which I expected and that was fine.
However, while on the phone I noticed that the first line of our address - the house name - was incorrect. It wasn’t a huge error - “Height xxxx” rather than “High House xxxx”.
I was astonished to be told that this would incur a further admin charge as it was a change of address. To me, this was a simple error correction - the next 3 lines of the address and post code were all correct. But the customer service person was adamant that she would have to charge me an admin fee. I think that this is completely wrong.
I have to admit that I was so outraged that I just cancelled the whole policy on the spot. On the plus side, my new insurance with another insurer was actually cheaper, but I’m still upset with Churchill and unlikely to use them again.

Bad treatment for loyal customers

I've been with Churchill for most of my driving career. This year the premium went up by over 500 gbp for a reason they could not advise. Never had a problem...always had great service. Not this time. Lack of action from managers....not getting facts right. Absolutely shocking treatment for a loyal customer. To rub salt into wound they then take another premium even tho they had a months notice...and charge a cancellation fee. Smarten up Churchill.....shame on you. For a careful 60 year old driver unbelievable

Churchill car insurance rip-off

Been with Churchill car insurance for 3 years now. My renewal is in April. Last year my insurance premium went up by over £100 however it was the same with other companies and all renewals were a similiar price so I ended up staying with Churchill.
This year I read reports that car insurance premiums were coming down….not with Churchill it wasn’t. It had gone up again by nearly £100 once more to £529.
I had a look on confused.com and found nearly 12 companies with premiums between £330 and £380 for almost similiar cover. Phoned up Churchill and the best they could do was £490. What a real ripoff and no reward for loyalty or being a safe driver (last accident was 1990 and wasn’t even my fault). Churchill have now lost a customer due to their greed….avoid them and look around for much much better prices.

Rip off charges when not renewing insurance

My car insurance is due to be renewed - policy number 1010955217. I looked at the renewal quote of close to £1500 and thought it rather a large increase on last year. I had it set to automatically renew so i changed that online so it did not renew. I obtained insurance elsewhere for less than half the cost. The insurance cover was the same but the excess amounts were lower. Today they send me a demand for £26.88 because I changed my cover. The demand letter even says the cover has not been changed. If they think I am paying for not renewing with them they are very much mistaken.

Cancelled Churchill

We switched to Churchill few years ago after We left our previous provider Direct Line. Churchill so far up to December 2024 we’re good to us. Even when I needed to lower the payments for my car during a difficult financial time.
It went down to £45. Then it crept up to £53 . But, the reason we left Churchill was because we were in an accident and my car sadly had to be written off. After been hit from the rear. Whilst we were at the road side up north it was far and raining , I called Churchill claims number I told them we had been in a bad accident and need a tow back , I was told by their operative that he would inform the breakdown tow people and that they will contact me back . Well nearly and hour later I called them back and was told the same thing. But no one came .
A week later ,
I called Churchill to tell them that our car had been written off and other party has taken responsibility. And that we have seen another car which is two years older
Than my car. What quote can you give they said £53 + admin fee I said but the car is older and we still have all our
NCD but the woman wasn’t interested .
We also then asked to speak to claims to complain of the way we were treated by the road side that no one turned up to tow us. This was a laughable and unbelievable experience, the person kept saying so you want to make a claim we said , no we are making a complaint and why didn’t the tow company come but he kept going on about are we making a claim . Eventually, after nearly 30 mins trying to find out why they didn’t send tow company he said he’ll put us through to another department needless to say we hung up at that point. Few days later I
Called Churchill to cancel my existing insurance on the car which is written off .
She said ok but I have to pay £50 for admin.
I had to Agee and told her take the money out now from my Direct Debit as I will be cancelling it soon . As they haven’t
Taken it .
It’s funny how these insurance companies take your money but when you need to use them in the event of an accident etc they make it difficult.
