A Gem for any cook
I purchased a Joule before it was finished being built. Soon after I received it, I bought another & ended up giving it away. Then I bought a third. I use a Sous Vide on average twice a week. Their compact size is great for storage & for transportation (I bring them along for catering gigs). I thoroughly enjoy using them & the app is helpful. Two things I personally would like to change: 1) Have a setting for circulation w/out heat. This would be helpful to defrost product w/out cooking & to chill down wine quickly in an ice bath. I have Poly Science Chef series that allows for low temps. 2) If the circulator output was lower it would be helpful for cooking items in vessels with an open top. For example, making Pot du Creme in shot glasses, which I do for parties. Despite these issues, I have recommended the Joule to many people & I know at least 4 people have purchased one. Cheers!

Great Product, Great Customer Service!
I've been looking at the Joule ever since it was announced, trying to decide if I really NEEDED to get one. Then we bought half a cow from my wife's uncle, and I decided that I didn't want to take any chances on ruining any steaks, so I took the plunge. I have to say that this is one if the best cooking related purchases that I've ever made. I've made some of the best burgers and steaks that I've ever tasted in my life. I've also been making my own yogurt and egg bites that everyone in the family enjoys. Pork chops and chicken are juicier than I've ever been able to get them grilling or even baking. I even made the Creme Brulee for dessert one day and it was spectacular.
Then the silicone pad on the bottom of the foot fell off after a 24 hour pulled pork-a-thon (which turned out fantastic, I must say). I contacted Chef Steps and had a new foot in a few days. I'm as impressed with their customer service as I am the Joule!
I can't wait to keep trying new recipies, both step by step through the app as well as from recipies I find on the web.
If you're on the fence about buying a Joule, I urge you to take the plunge and get one. You will NOT be sorry!

Chefsteps feels like family
Chefsteps feels like family. They are super helpful, casual and a little bit irreverent. Their recipes leave nothing out. If you can read, you can prepare any dish they've come up with. And there are SO MANY recipes! Yep. Love 'em!

Great Information - Very Entertaining Presentation
I've very much enjoyed working with ChefSteps in connection with the purchase of my Joule sous vide stick.

The base on my Joule broke off from over use. ChefStep sent me a replacement part. The second time the epoxy that holds the grey threaded piece for the base came off. ChefStep replaced it with a new Joule. Overall I think this Joule sleek and sexy unit. But lacks performance if used every day.

I like the size of the Joule
I like the size of the Joule because I can travel with it in my backpack. It heats water fast and is pretty quiet too. I had no problem so far with my Joule. I almost never follow receipes but those sent by ChefSteps are very inspiring and give me ideas. One thing I would like is the ability to associate notes with the cooking history because knowing that you cooked something 3 months ago at 145°C for 9 hours does not help much if you use it a lot. If I could wrote "Fish" or anything, it would help to remember (next app update maybe?). Sous vide involve some trial and error process before getting to perfection so adding note would help.

ChefSteps always pushes me to try new…
ChefSteps always pushes me to try new recipes and their videos make everything exceptionally simple. I don't use the Joule as often as I could. I get a bit lazy when it comes to the setup and often don't leave enough time for the cook. However, when having a small dinner with friends or a large dinner party the Joule always produces a show-stopping meal. I also highly appreciate the "Other People's Ideas" series. I've made several of those recipes and each has come out excellent.

Great product!
Never had any problems! We were addicted to cooking turkey breasts sous vide, which is the best we've ever had it! Such a great product. We just vacuum our food and freeze it. When we want to cook, we pop it in cold water in the morning and turn it on with our app at the right time during the day and come home to prepared food. So convenient!

The Joule is great and ChefSteps is…
The Joule is great and ChefSteps is awesome! I have made many, many wonderful recipes using both. I do wish that the app was a little more comprehensive. For example, the app has the recipes but not the complete steps for the recipes. Also, for the times that I'm experimenting and discover the perfect SV time and temperature, it would be pretty awesome if I could enter it in the app and store it for future use, like in a file marked custom, or whatever.

I love ChefSteps
I love ChefSteps! Their Joule is amazing, and the customer service is second to none. If there is any problem, it is rectified right away. The Joule cooks beautifully, and the recipes they provide are really out of this world.

Chefsteps is amazing
Chefsteps is amazing. It's easy to follow, easy to search your ideas as well as surf for new ideas. The videos are amazingly simple and fun to watch and the steps are written in a way that make it nearly impossible to have anything but great results. Every time I use the app I make something great... and it looks exactly like the video or picture. This never happens with any cookbook.

Joule is the best sous vide tool
I have two sous vide tools but use the Joule exclusively. I like its small size, which allows me to use smaller containers/pots. I've also traveled with it.
