Stripe is Illegally Holding $45,367.55 of My Business Funds
My experience with Stripe has been absolutely unacceptable. I run a legitimate, tax-paying U.S. business that has processed payments through Shopify Payments, which operates under Stripe.
On October 2, 2025, I added a new Wise Business bank account through Plaid, which both Plaid and Wise confirmed was successfully verified. Yet, when Shopify attempted to release my payout on October 27, Stripe rejected my verified account without explanation and instead sent $45,367.55 to my old, inactive bank account.
My old account is closed, meaning the funds never reached me. Despite repeated communication with Shopify and Stripe’s involvement as the payment processor, Stripe continues to hold my $45,367.55 without providing any clear reason or timeline for resolution.
I have provided all legal documents, proof of business registration, and bank verification. Still, Stripe remains silent. This is not only poor service — it’s borderline unlawful behavior. Holding a small business’s money for weeks without explanation shows total disregard for merchants’ livelihoods.
I strongly warn other small businesses to avoid Stripe. They are unreliable, unresponsive, and unaccountable when handling large payouts.
