Absolutely the worst company I have…

Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with, appalling communication (actually no communication)carried out unnecessary work as they misdiagnosed the problem with my vehicle and then never made contact in order to rectify this despite my numerous emails and telephone calls . I would not recommend this garage.

Timing belt disaster

I had the timing belt and water pump replaced on my Motorhome Fiat Ducato 2.8 IDTD at this Garage, and unfortunately the job was not performed correctly.
Immediately after the service, while travelling, the vehicle developed severe problems: excessive exhaust smoke, a major loss of power, and the engine would not exceed 2500 rpm even at full throttle.
The mechanic himself, before delivering the vehicle to me, declared that the performance was not good at all.
A diesel injection specialist (Bosch Center) later confirmed internal mechanical damage to the injection pump – damage fully consistent with incorrect timing belt installation or incorrect pump timing, in fact the anomaly occurred immediately after they carried out the work.
They did not install the gasket when replacing the water pump, resulting in a fluid loss of over 2 liters in 2000 km, and they emptied the air conditioning circuit without restoring it.
I contacted the workshop several times (three emails), but received no response at all.
The lack of communication and responsibility is extremely disappointing, especially considering the serious and costly consequences of the poorly executed repair.

GOOD SAFE WORK or SHODDY and DANGEROUS

GOOD SAFE WORK or SHODDY and DANGEROUS

Between 22 February 2025 and 12 March 2025 CGE as a sub-contractor for Dyce Caravans Limited carried out work on my camper van. The work related to starting issues and included replacing the vehicle battery with a brand new one which I supplied in its packaging. The bill of £435.30 was promptly paid.
The work was not properly or expeditiously carried out but I will focus on three particular issues.

The new battery was fitted without removing the transit plugs. Additionally the vent pipe attached to the outgoing battery was not re-fitted but instead thrown away. It was found carelessly discarded. Safety notices on the packaging and battery itself were ignored. This was extremely dangerous (not my opinion but as set out in the battery advice). It could have caused the battery to explode. With the battery located in an enclosed locker below the front passenger footwell the possible consequences are alarming.
A “random” earth strap was left present on top of the fuse board. It was actually or potentially touching positive contacts and the vehicle chassis. It was not part of my vehicle. In my view this constituted another risk of short circuit or fire in an enclosed locker
3. A fuse board is designed to sit on top of the battery. It is secured on the battery post and also by two stout screws on the fuse board which attach to the body of the battery using a special clip. This supports the fuse board and helps to stop it flexing. The clip was in place but when the vehicle was returned no clip was present so that the fuse board was not fully secured in accordance with the manufacturers design.

After the vehicle was returned to storage on 12 March 2025. I drove it for the first time thereafter on 25 March 2025 for cleaning and preparation in the course of which these defects (and another) were seen.
I removed the earth strap and transit plugs and refitted the vent pipe thereby minimising the danger CGE had created. I reported the position to Dyce Caravans and requested the return or replacement of the securing clip. NOTE I did not ask for my money back and I did not ask for any further work to be done (see below)
I was subsequently advised that CGE were looking into getting a clip but it hasn’t happened. edit it was sent on Friday after this was posted)
In 14 subsequent e-mails (with Dyce Caravans) I requested comment, an acknowledgement of the danger and an apology but no meaningful or acceptable response was received despite interaction and communication between CGE and DC.
What I did receive was a series of excuses and delays including that specialised information from the manufacturer was required, requests for clarification of what my problem was, (photos and explanations were repeatedly provided), delay because the the garage principal was on holiday, that the technician (unidentified) who carried out the work was on holiday and even that if and to the extent that work was not properly carried out (none was admitted) it was my fault because I had insisted that the work was carried out expeditiously (which it wasn’t) .

You may ask why I am bothering to post this or pursue matters when I have fixed the worst issues myself ? Well:-
The vehicle was returned in a dangerous (arguably potentially life-threatening condition) but neither DC nor CGE have acknowledged this or apologised. A fire could have occurred whilst myself or grandchildren were asleep in the van and I know from experience that electrical fires are hard to extinguish.
The clip should have been retained by CGE (maybe it was). Its my property. It can’t be purchased alone and I have been unable to source a replacement from a breaker. So it will cost me £140 for the clip because the only way I can get it is to buy the complete fuse board.

After three patient months a threat and time limit for action has resulted in an offer late on Friday 20 June of a meeting “to understand my concerns and to identify what repairs might be needed. .

Should CGE point to my refusal to have a meeting and say that that is why my complaint has not been resolved I would say :-
They already know that apart from the clip (which I can easily fit myself) I have already rectified everything so there is nothing to do or remaining to see.
Having already received copies of the above photos etc they are already completely aware of my comments. I meeting would not expand their knowledge but it would delay matters. Perhaps it is because they do appreciate the serious nature of the faults that they won’t comment.
Given the absence of care and respect for my vehicle and by inference me CGE are not getting anywhere near my vehicle.

After this was posted
CGE sent a "final assessment" via DC.
They don't mention the plug/drain pipe and deny the earth strap was in the vehicle. Battery Clip has been provided though
