Unfortunately we had a really bad experience with Carpet King who were laying vinyl throughout our downstairs. We went with them because of their reputation, but had nothing but poor service. We were booked for a two day period, but they had to come back on two other separate occasions because of their own mistakes or because of the poor finish we asked them to fix. Little detail… 1) we were not informed until they were about to do the floor that we would have to move out, so had to move the family and animals out for a night at short notice. 2) They mis-ordered and didn’t have the vinyl in stock to complete (they later came back to lay when had stock). 3) After numerous visits, they told us they were finished but left raw cut edges with no joining door strips down in two door ways, another door strip was not down properly and two doors couldn’t close over door ways, as well as incomplete sealant of vinyl areas (third time we highlighted this). They also left rubbish (extra vinyl and cuttings) through the house and garden. 4) They changed the timings through the many visits without any communication which caused issues with our work. Mistakes happen to everyone and we accepted the move out and the mis order of flooring, but to keep asking for missing or substandard jobs to be sorted, and multiple attempts and visits (with little recognition or apology from the company) to get it to an ‘acceptable’ standard, was not. We will not use them again.

Our new flooring, finally laid after a delay due to illness, is excellent. The fitters were very professional and went the extra mile to make everything right. They had to find some carpet in a cupboard to hide a gap where a wall had been knocked down.

Shocking company. When they laid the vinyl they left two doors unusable and I had to cal a carpenter to re hang the doors . Now the flooring has rucked up in a doorway and they are refusing to put this right as well. When I tried to get them to rectify this they were abusive in the phone . So I’ve had to phone a different local company to put the matter right.
Don’t use this company. !

Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, genuinely nice people. They were able to sort out all the problems left by the previous fitter. They supplied and fitted new carpets to a very, very high standard.
I so appreciate how they went out their way to really help me.

I have just had new carpet to my lounge and stairs which was supplied and fitted by Carpet King Exmouth. The service was excellent and very professional from measuring to fitting, everything was perfect and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Our carpet begun to fray and two thresholds needed to be replaced. Having always used carpet king in the past, I contacted them. They came out to assess these thresholds, asked for the money up front which we paid immediately. It then took 9 months to arrange their next visit which they subsequently cancelled as they did not have the correct item in stock. When they finally came out, they forgot about one threshold and said they couldn’t replace the other as the carpet was too badly frayed as no carpet gripper had been used when fitting it. They had not realised it was carpet king who had fitted this carpet a few years before. The whole carpet needs replacing. So disappointed, no offer of apology except a 50% refund for the thresholds I paid for last November and never received. Carpet King have subsequently agreed to return the full price but not received yet.
If you have to use this company, never ever pay before the work has been completed. Once they have your money you have to chase them back to do the job and even then they don’t do what you had originally asked them to do.

Excellent from start to finish. Job done as and when agreed, and quality finish by Dave the Kardean fitter. Would recommend.

We had the Kardean flooring through the whole of our flat. It looks amazing. We have had such a good experience with Carpet King from when Steve first came to measure up to the team who prepared the floors. Then the specialist Dave who fitted it. All done to the exact timeline agreed. Dave was so neat and professional and we would definitely recommend Carpet King if you’re changing your flooring.

Our average review was affected by the life and quality
of the Carpet. it was first class to start with, but a deterioration started in the traffic areas, which was a flattening of the tuft and unsightly appearance.
In hindsight we should have contacted you earlier at the start of the deterioration

We have used this company for many years. Prompt service, good quality work, helpful staff and value for money. Happy to recommend.

We asked for a bathroom lino to be fitted and three came to fit it and lay hardboard down. However, it always felt a little spongy and squeaked which was a little irritating. Anyway, in the end we decided to have it redone and when the new person lifted up the old Lino he found that the hardboard had been directly laid over the previous lino? Is that right? Also, there was a rotting floorboard which hadn’t been noticed. However, I would like to think that this was the exception to the rule and that they would generally do a better job.

Excellent service Dave was incredible skilled fitter I had 3 traps in the floor that needed floor covering but access just in case . I have a job to find the traps as Dave did such a fantastic job. I actually rang Carpet king after Dave had finished to let them know how pleased and impressed with the work he had done

In recent months we have renewed all our carpets and used Carpet King. All their staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Their fitters turned up on time and did a very good job. Would have no hesitation in using them in the future.
