Absolute shambles of a car sales…

Absolute shambles of a car sales company!! AVOID at all Costs! We paid out over £16k on a car that has electrical faults and tyres with slow punctures. These were obviously not pointed out to us when we purchased the car. The car wasn’t washed when we first came to see it. However when we returned to purchase it the following weekend it had an attempted clean. There was tobacco left in the centre console and the car smelt of cigarettes. We were not escorted to or shown round our car after they took our money, we were just given the keys and left to it. No log book, or hand book to be seen. No service details, no fresh Mot or Service! We left the car show room in Barnet, which was an intimidating and shambolic situation from start to finish, to find that the tyre readings on the car were below legal requirements. We then discovered that one of the tyres had a slow puncture and we have had to replace two of them. We later discovered that there is an electrical fault With the engine and I have tried on numerous accounts to talk to someone at Car Planet, albeit the sales team, the after sales team or the service team and not one single person has attempted to call me back!

What’s even worse is that we had a courtesy call a few days after the purchase date and raised these concerns and was told we would be reimbursed and someone to contact us to do so, but guess what! They might as well have packed up and left the country! NOTHING!

One of the worst experiences I have…

One of the worst experiences I have ever had buying a car.

Within literally 10 minutes of driving the car away, the engine management light came on. After spending almost the entire day there sorting everything out, I went back only to find staff suddenly nowhere to be seen. That alone should have been a warning sign.

When viewing the car I was told the brake fluid had been topped up, yet later discovered there was no brake fluid put in at all. Completely unacceptable and genuinely concerning considering this is basic vehicle safety.

From the moment I bought the car it has been nothing but problem after problem, excuse after excuse, and constant back and forth. Every time I complained, instead of properly fixing the issue, I was pushed off to different external garages. One garage “looked at it”, another changed the battery, another inspected it again, yet the actual problems never went away.

After repeatedly complaining, they finally agreed to take the car back and repair it. You would think that would be the end of it. Less than a month later the engine light was back on again and the car started moving sluggishly yet again. At this point I had no choice but to involve my finance company because getting hold of anyone became almost impossible and calls were going unanswered.

After more chasing and more delays, they eventually booked it into another garage. Once again, less than a month later, the same issues returned. Then to top it all off, the automatic gear stick seized up as well.

Now, after dealing with ongoing issues almost the entire time I’ve owned the car, I’m being told “the 6 months is up” so apparently nothing can be done. Convenient.

The problems started almost immediately after purchase and never truly got resolved. I have spent months dealing with stress, inconvenience, wasted time, repeated garage visits, and a car that has clearly had ongoing faults from the beginning.

Absolutely horrible experience.

Poor experience

Went to see a car at Car Planet today. The car itself seemed fine overall, but it had multiple MOT advisories that had not been addressed. One of these advisories has been persistent for the last 2 years according to the MOT history. The dealership did not appear fully aware of the advisories when I raised them and then falsely claimed they had been addressed until I asked to see evidence when it transpired that it had not. After they offered to change the rear discs. When I brought up the other issues, I was told it wasn’t their responsibility to replace items that were only advisories and may need changing in the future.

The car also had scratched alloys and scratches to the bodywork. The initial salesperson advised these would either be sorted before sale or factored into the deal, but this was not reflected later in the discussion.

I understand advisories are not immediate MOT failures, but as a customer spending a significant amount of money on a car, I would expect a reputable dealership to take more pride in preparing vehicles to a higher standard rather than doing the bare minimum.

What disappointed me most, however, was the attitude and customer service. In particular, the manager came across as dismissive and disrespectful during the interaction, which made the experience feel quite unprofessional. It was also disappointing to overhear staff speaking about customers while still within earshot.

I didn’t want to believe some of the other negative reviews before visiting, but after experiencing the interaction firsthand, I can unfortunately understand why people have made those comments. Very disappointing from a dealership of this size

After sale department stole items from my car such as car mats and boot liner, even USB cables. The whole company is con artists and thieves from the sales team to the after sale. DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM CAR PLANET!!!!

A good experience

Bridget was a great help and was able…

Bridget was a great help and was able to extend our test drive. She was welcoming and helpful.

Although did feel rather rushed. Would have liked to have seen the car from its start up position but they drive the car to you. Not a great location, it’s nice to be able to stroll and view cars at your own leisure.

On viewing the car, test driving and agreeing a deal, we paid a deposit and agreed to collect it the following weekend, giving car planet enough time to complete the service and apply the supaguard. On our return to pay the ballance and sort out the relevant paperwork we was told at 10.50 that the car had just undergone its second coat of supaguard, (it requires four coats we was told) by the time the paperwork had been sorted it would be ready, approximately half an hour. At 14.00 after sitting waiting watching other people come and go, with their new cars, after asking a few times if it was ready to collect and being told it shouldn't be too long, i decided to go and see if it was ready and someone maybe forgot to tell us. To my surprise, the car was still in the carpark filthy and not been touched. Eventually after sitting around for over four hours we collected the car. We was told it would have enough fuel to get us home, approximately a two hour drive, 82 miles. The car had 2 miles range in it and only just made it to the nearest fuel station. The fuel, I can live with, it was the untruths that we was fed when we arrived. To be honest, It felt like once they had our money they were not bothered.

I bought a car from car planet

I bought a car from car planet. The customer service was good all be it just typical salesman interactions trying to sell you loads of add ons and pretending they’ve got you the best deal possible to try and get you on board.

Now the car itself I was promised a “150 point check” to make sure it was good standard and anyrhing that went wrong within two months would be fixed by them.
Within two weeks the car engine service light had come on, the back windows did not operate properly and the key fob was never recognised by the car itself and would be a lot of trouble to unlock, lock or start the car.

We gave it back to car planet to fix these problems. I was told the DPF was blocked and it would be cleared. There was no problem with the back windows it was just ‘cold’ and the key was almost laughed at by sarcastically saying the battery can be changed. So after getting it back from carplanet the back windows still didn’t work, the key went back to not working after a week and the engine service light came back on after a couple of weeks.

After taking into another garage, it turned out they didn’t manually clear the DPF, they just took it for a drive at a high rev count which temporarily fixed the problem. The transmitter in the car for the key fob to work was faulty and the back windows motor had gone. The work to put it al this right had totalled over £3000!! Unbelievable for a car that has only done 35,000 miles, had a “150 point check” before selling it to me and taking it back to carplanet to fix these problems issues.

Although the customer service was okay. They’re lazy with helping fix cars, they do it the cheapest way possible and csnt be trusted for what they’re selling to you. I would never buy from this company again it’s cost me an arm and a leg, wasted so much time with the car in the garage which is extra expense and just can’t trust anything they say to you

They do not care / think twice.

I bought a Renault Clio in 2025 and then signed a contract of service for the next 3 years. I paid £600 for the service contract. One year later, when my vehicle was due for service, I tried every possible way to make an appointment, whassup message, phone call and e-mail, all of which were unreturned for ever.I had to have the vehicle serviced at the dealership which I believe was the most decent course of action.
I visited their reception today to learn more and ask for a refund but I was told of a so-called non-existent reply to my email, which I have never seen in my inbox or junk box.
They looted my money!!!

Ease of checking the car. No excessive sales pressure. Engaging staff. The car required interior cosmetic treatment and set of locking nuts. This was acknowledged and arranged by a manager and subsequently fixed by the friendly prep centre. Overall relaxing and rewarding experience .
