Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, with agents who lack knowledge and sometimes speak poor English. Customers also frequently report issues with payments, including unexpected interest charges, delayed application of payments, and difficulties with transfers. The pricing structure, including annual fees and high interest rates without rewards, was a major point of contention. Some people also felt that the company's service was outdated, particularly regarding the lack of mobile payment options. A few other people also felt that their accounts were closed due to inactivity, even when they intended to pay off their balance. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with specific agents, praising their politeness, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

Google Wallet Issues

Capital One Canada is complete garbage. They won't let me add my card to my Google Wallet because I'm not with Bell or Rogers. Seriously? They won't let TELUS customers activate Google pay according to customer service. Have you ever heard of something so fricken ridiculous? Not to mention, they charge me $59 a year, and high interest, but won't let me use my Google Wallet, something is seriously wrong with them.

They cut my credit card without…

They cut my credit card without warning. “ Business decision”. No other explanation. I was with them 6 or 7 years. They owe me in total about 900 dollars which they suppose to return in 3-4 months. With 0% of interest for using. How do you like it?

After being a client for over a decade

After being a client for over a decade, i recieve a letter stating that an interest rate hike or 4.1% will be the new norm for the card. this puts it at 23.9 % which is Higher than every other card i have by 5% minimum. Not only that i get charged a $60 anual fee as well. If you need these cards for credit rebuild great I guess but with this money grab in these times and with federal interest rates decreasing it feels like they are trying to PAD their bank account *think hard before using this card) as policy changed could put you in a more dire situation based off these practices. I dont recommend this card to anyone anymore with so many better , least impacting cards available.

The customer service is rude, unhelpful. The online website is horrible, getting help with this is impossible

Worst customer service ever...they are…

Worst customer service ever...they are outsourced to Pakistan/India and you can never understand them. THEN if you have an issue that's not in their prepared script they hang up on you. Horrible service. Go somewhere else for credit cards. One that understands and speaks English.

Awful credit card

Awful credit card! Do not sign up, they will ruin your credit score.

They locked me out of my online account and made it impossible for me to pay my balance and they just collected interest and then sued me.

They're a decent credit card

They're a decent credit card, in that they're reliable, and you're able to use your card when needed, and good customer service, but they're by far the stingiest credit card company that ever was. I've been a loyal customer with over 3 years perfect payment record, and they still have my credit limit at $800 and refuse to increase it. I've got a pretty fair credit score to boot, and other creditors are exceedingly more generous. Capital one is a kiddie credit card with a kiddie credit limit. I mean it's fine for making small purchase but what am I going to really do with $800? Phfft.

Had a secured card (where I pre-paid the money, no $ advanced from them) with a $300 limit (which was fine for me). When I cancelled-they kept my deposit and asked me to pay off one hundred some dollars more (even though they never gave/advanced $ to me). Now my credit score is shot, showing delinquent owing over $200. Can not recommend using this company.

Horrible company

Horrible company. DO not get a credit card from them. First they have high interest rate. And if you don't pay, they send your case to a lawyer. Ridiculous company. They don't understand your situation. Good way to threaten people. If people will file for debt consolidation, your company is in loss already.

I will never use capitol one again

I will never use capitol one again. I have asked them two years in a row to cancel my account. Was told account was cancelled. Never through anything of it after that. Fast forward a year and they charge the card the yearly fee on the account that is supposed to be cancelled. Makes my credit score go from almost perfect to 650 cuz they said I missed payments, even tho the account was supposed to be cancelled. Capitol one made me make payment and assured me account was cancelled. Fast forward another year to this year and same damn thing happens. Drops my credit once again. Contacted capitol one to only be told that they didn’t cancel the account and I’m forced to pay the $60 once again and watch my credit score drop again. Once again was told they cancelled my account. Three more weeks goes by and I call again to make sure account is cancelled and once again is told account was not cancelled again. They just cancelled the account once again, hopefully they finally did. Horrible customer service I do not recommend and I was a client of theirs for 20 years.

Have not been happy with this

I have had the card for several years. It is a very low credit limit. I pay off way higher than the minimum required monthly and use it every month for small items. I have never received a credit limit increase. When I ask about this, I get very vague responses. In addition, they will charge a fee when I am approaching my limit which puts me over my limit and then charge me an additional fee for going over the limit. It feels like a third of my charges are fees.

card cancelled without warning

My card was cancelled because of suspected fraud. No one contacted me to check, it was just cancelled.

The representative couldn't answer my questions.

There was no fraudulent activity and they could not reverse the cancellation, nor could they expedite the replacement card. Two representatives said there is no way to prevent this in the future.

I use the card to cover business expenses so I am now unable to do business for 7 to 10 days.

I was offered a one time thirty dollar credit for the inconvenience but it has not shown up on the account yet.
