Customer Service = -100

My battery was dying so I went to the Richmond Hill CTC by my work to get a replacement, THEY looked up the battery and sold it to me. I bought it, took it home only to find out they sold me the wrong one. I thought, I'll go over to the Ajax CTC where I live to exchange it but they rudely pointed to the sign that says no refunds, (I wanted the right battery, not a refund), even the manager held that they would do nothing for me since they didn't sell it to me, I THOUGHT CTC WAS ONE CORPORATION, I understand they are franchises BUT when you represent a larger entity, treating customers like they are trash for your company's mistake is the the best way to drive customers elsewhere. I had to drive all the way back to Richmond Hill where they did exchange the battery, but this whole ordeal has taught me that CTC is just as interested in serving their customers as I am in cleaning up after my dog in the backyard. I will NEVER go back to the Ajax CTC and really if I find alternates for anything automotive, I'm going there instead

I will never shop at Canadian Tire Again

Website is incredibly buggy. It ended up taking my money for a badly needed car battery without actually ordering the battery.

I didn't have enough money for a second one which completely screwed me over. Their customer service was useless and did nothing to help the situation. I ended up having them delete my triangle rewards account.

I will never shop at Canadian Tire again.

Went to Canadian Tire today after…

Went to Canadian Tire today after seeing Aged Oak Gel Stain on their website listed at $21.99. The word “From” was hidden in faint, fine print beside the price. When I got to the store, every can was $29.99 — no product was available at the advertised price.

I spoke with three managers (John, Cory, and Holly) who all confirmed the price was $29.99. As far as I’m concerned, this is misleading advertising — showing a product image and a price that doesn’t exist just to get people in the door.

I’ve submitted a complaint to Canadian Tire customer service and hope they fix this. Shoppers deserve clear, honest pricing.

Be warned

Be warned. Don't buy anything from Canadian Tire that needs to be opened to be used. As soon as you open it, the item becomes non-refundable. If you decide you don't like it, they'll give you an exchange, otherwise, well... "that's our policy".

How are you supposed to know if you like something and it works for you without opening it and trying it. Maybe that was back in the day.

I pushed to get a store credit at least, and the manager made a call and they provided a store credit, but only because it was (2) days since I made the purchase.

So - remember, we're being held hostage to CT if we buy something from them and actually open it and try it.

Unhappy customer

We went to the canadiantire store at Islington and rexdale today. We had to return a new set of steak knives unopened package with no receipt. We were served by a cranky and rude person at customer service. She was not a pleasant person at all to us. She told us a few times she has worked her 25 years and know whats she is doing. She asked were we bought them and I thought it was richmond hill but it was actually markham. She would not help at all and kept asking for our card. My gf showed hers and her phone card as well. The person wouldn't accept it and didn't even check the computer where we bought the product. When we started to say forget as she was getting loud and not helpful at all. When we left we heard her cursing and loud. We were actually going to shop for a mini safe but deffenitly will be getting it somewhere else.
We have returned other items at other canadiantires with no problem at all

Very disappointing experience

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience with a Canadian Tire garage during a winter tire change.
During the service, they broke one of my wheel studs. Instead of taking responsibility, they tried to charge me for both the part and the labor, claiming the stud had been previously over-tightened. This was already frustrating, but the situation got worse.
When I returned to speak with the manager, I was met with a rude and dismissive attitude. I was essentially told that if I didn’t want to pay, I could just take my car and leave—even though driving with a broken stud is unsafe.
Because I no longer trusted their work, I went to another garage. There, I was informed that the wheel lug nuts had not been properly tightened, which is extremely dangerous. I was told I was lucky the wheel didn’t come off while driving. They also noticed missing valve caps.
I had to pay $200 to fix these issues.
Overall, this experience showed a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic safety standards. I strongly recommend get your car fixed somewhere than Canadian Tire.

Garden Center fail!

Purchased an outdoor kiwi plant for $25.00 and it was dead the next day. When I asked for a refund, they told me it shouldn't be planted outside... except to say, it is an outdoor plant... as all kiwis are. If it shouldn't be planted outside, it should not be made for sale! Anyway, no help, not even a replacement or a store credit.

The North Saanich Canadian Tire

The North Saanich, BC Canadian tire store where I have purchased a lot of stuff have never said thanks once . They don’t print thank you on there receipts. The experience at their Customer Service counter has only been rude . The automotive Parts manager Paul is the rudest person I have ever met . His comment when I presented a little problem ,that he could easily solve , was to dismiss me as one of those people . I don’t think they would want him back if he wanted to return to England. He is the crown prince of low class British rudeness . Stay away , go to Lordco or Napa , much better experience

Service added BS fees.

Received a quote for new tires and installation, Price was excepted so had work done at my Campbell River store. At payment time invoice increased by $130 due to "dirt on rims". What fool takes an hr labour to clean rims. I know this was not true, earlier the week before I had a shop investigate a vibration. They checked for dirt and then found a u-joint worn. Rim dirt was checked.

This was the LAST time I will ever use Canadian Tire service department. There are lots of shops in my area that are not "rip offs". Never again CT.

Didn’t feel welcome and lots of discrimination

I was recently hired for a position at the garden centre, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing.
From my first day, I felt unwelcome and unsupported. The team primarily spoke among themselves in a language I did not understand, which made communication and integration extremely difficult. I received no training or guidance on my role or responsibilities.
When I attempted to contribute or ask questions to be helpful, my supervisor made it clear that my input was unwelcome and that I was overstepping or challenging her authority. Instead of receiving support, I felt isolated and “hung out to dry.”
Regrettably, with the lack of onboarding, team inclusion, and basic professional courtesy I was relieved to leave them job. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone seeking a supportive and professional environment.

Give credit where credit is due!

We had an issue with a Gazebo we purchased at Canadian Tire, London, ON. at the Hyde Park Store. We dealt with a young lady in customer service named Sienna. She was attentive, made phone calls to get us information we required, advised us to call the Gazebo company to discuss the issue, and supplied us with the info we needed to reach the necessary people. Sienna made sure her store Manager (Jaymie) was aware of the situation incase the Gazebo company called and she wasn't working. Within days, thanks to Sienna staying on top of things we had authorization to have new Gazebo replacement and because of her suggestion to contact the Gazebo company directly, we also had the old one removed and the new one installed. Thank you Sienna for all your help!

Canadian Tire did not want to honor a lifetime warranty and the manager was rude and aggressive

I’m writing this review with disappointment following my visit on March 17, 2026. At approximately 1:15 p.m., I came to the Bolton store to exchange a product that carried a lifetime warranty at the time of purchase. The customer service representative at the desk was courteous and made a genuine effort to help. However, when the acting store manager became involved, the interaction quickly turned unprofessional, and within minutes I was told I was “being difficult.” At that point, I ended the discussion, took my product, and left. Based on this experience, I do not plan to return to the Bolton location.
For context, I have been a long-time supporter of Canadian Tire and have often recommended it to others as a Canadian company. Canadian Tire has been a favourite store of mine since childhood—I even kept Canadian Tire money as a memento and later shared it with my children. When travelling for work or personal reasons, I regularly make a point of stopping in at local stores, and I have shopped at locations across Ontario and beyond, from Windsor to Ottawa to Timmins and Kenora.
To the new owner of the Bolton store: I understand you recently purchased this location and are based in Western Canada. I hope you will review the customer service culture at the store and ensure issues like this are addressed. My family and I have historically spent thousands of dollars per year at this store, but after this incident we will be taking our business elsewhere—even if it means driving an additional 25 km to another location. This will likely reduce how often we shop at Canadian Tire overall. After leaving the store that day, I purchased the supplies I needed at other Bolton retailers, spending hundreds of dollars, and I have since found another store willing to assist with my product issue. I have chosen not to name the manager here; if you wish to investigate, the store records will show who was on duty at that time.

Canadian Tire on Woodlawn road in…

Canadian Tire on Woodlawn road in Guelph. Shopping was successful. I was able to find the products I need, with help from a worker. And I found some items, I really did not need, but! The cashier was pleasant, and got assistance for me to put the fertilizer in my car. I am getting closer to my total points to buy anew BBQ.

Excellent customer service

I bought a Kitchen Aid stand mixer in september. Last week it stopped working. Took it to CT and they were super friendly and I walked home with a brand new one. Didn’t even took me 15 minutes. That’s what I call customer service! I go to the CT in Salmon Arm.
