At home day 2 PCR tests - Worked absolutely fine from start to finish

Booked and paid for a day 2 test with Boots before we went on holiday, to be used on our return. After reading the reviews, especially someone saying the booking reference wouldn't work on the UK locator form, I contacted their customer service - was on hold for a short time but did get through. The lady I spoke to was really helpful and explained that someone had, in error, tried to use the order number instead of the booking reference number on the UK locator form (makes sense it wouldn't work). She then advised me how to access the second test as I had booked two tests on one account, even though I hadn't asked. The tests arrived within 24 hours of ordering. Booking reference was accepted on the UK locator form, and on our return from holiday we completed and posted the tests in a priority postbox on the afternoon of 16th September. On the evening of 17th September I received two texts and two emails to say the results for both tests were ready. Used my phone to access the portal and checked my results, then chose Manage My Account to access the second person's results without any problems. I will say the portal wasn't any good on a PC as I tried it, but it does say it was designed for use on smartphones. Would use again if I needed to.

PCR tests took 60+ hours to come back

We booked a PCR test for our family of 4 at 9.10am on a Thursday morning ahead of our flight on Sunday morning.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the tests were completed quickly and efficiently. The staff said all PCR tests were coming back in less than 2 days.
No results was received by EOD Friday so I called the provided phone number to check in. After a 45 min wait to get through to someone, the person on the other end of the phone claimed they couldn't hear me clearly and hung up.
Tried again and after another 45 minute wait i was able to speak to someone who was able to hear me clearly. They said the they would refer my case to their escalation team as we were past 48 hours and i could expect someone to contact me in next 2-3 hours.
Obviously no one did contact me so i had to call again and wait another 45 mins to speak to someone. This person said there was a delay with one of the labs that Boots uses but there was a good chance the results would come through before end of day Saturday. As we were flying at 9 am on Sunday morning and wouldn't be allowed on the flight without a test result this was cutting it too fine so i booked a rapid test appointment at Heathrow for early the next morning. I had to pay in advance so that was 140 quid.
Results eventually came in at 9.30pm Saturday night so was able to use them for flights but final day of holiday was ruined with spending 2.5 hours on the phone and having to deal with the likelihood of the results not coming back. Having read the other reviews i can see that some ppl had a good experience with this service but after what happened to me i would recommend trying other alternatives than Boots. Haven't even bothered trying to contact them to get a refund of the PCR test (340 quid) or the rapid test i didn't end up needing (140 quid) as i know they will make it impossible.

Super smooth process, friendly service.

We did the in store test in Reading before travelling, and the service was fantastic. The nurse was super patient with our 5 year old daughter, who was anxious about doing the test. Results arrived the next day and we were able to fly as planned :)

WELL DONE BOOTS

felt i just had to write, having read all the bad reviews. about boots covid testing services.
Here is our experience. first of all we inadvertently booked a test a few hours too soon for our departure to Canada. we were able to change to the day after not through the portal, but in person, instore where they were very helpful. however the new date was quite tight for our departure. when we into the store for test. the lady reassured us everything would be fine and was so helpful. test done on thursday at Inverness retail park at 11.10. we were a bit worried, but Friday 8.30am results back. Couldn't believe it. Well done boots, took a huge amount of pressure off us.

Poor system

Could not sign in as website repeatedly rejected our email though this was accepted when we paid our money. As others have said there is no way to contact the firm. Leaflet is highly inaccurate as says use tracking label but Royal Mail won't accept that: postmen refuse to transport in separate sack - just put return box in any pillar box. Still waiting for Day 2 results.

Horrible support.

Horrible support.

Don’t get the COVID test from here, it’s impossible to get through support.

I Had not received my test kit and there was no way to find out what was happening. Was on the phone for over 30mins but couldn’t get anyone on the line.

Overpriced

Overpriced, tests did not arrive on time and an absolute shambles of an online portal. You can't add more than one test tube online even though you can have two people registered on the same account. If you try and register another account it asks you to pay again. The portal is awful. Extremely confusing and not user friendly at all. The test results came 4 days later and the tests didn't arrive on time either. I've now only got 1 result but my girlfriends result isn't going to come back because only 1 test tube was registered on the portal. I hope they get their Covid license removed. Money making scam. Also the fact that there is no contact details just shows how bad this company actually is. £141 for terrible service.

No longer your high street chemist...

Unfortunately, as others have shared, Boots charges a premium for its Covid tests but breaches any reasonable obligation to provide timely results, provide access to customer service, or respond to requests for partial refunds.

Our second set of tests were not completed in time to be of any use to us. I can, however, recommend the testing service at the airport. They were organised, quick, and far less expensive than Boots. I won't name them, but you'll know who they are.

Shame on Boots and Recova-19

Boots..appalling day 2 Covid test service

Booked a day 2 Covid test on return to UK. Boots service is appalling, its been 4 days and still no sign of test result. They do not bother answering the phone lines and there is effectively no way to chase up. They should not be a government registered provider of tests if they are unable to deliver what you pay for.

A shameful level of customer care

My experience with the Fit to Travel PCR Covid test at Boots was a total disaster from the start to finish.

1. I could not get through the customer care telephone line prior to the appointment. I tried 3 times, two of the three times there were "no operator" or "the line was closed" during their stated opening hours. The other time I waited over 30 minutes and still no one picked up.
2. The tester at Boots was late and I was suppose to be the first appointment at 8am in the morning. They had no knowledge of when their customers are due and were just asking everyone what time their appointment was.
3. The tester at Boots gave me a nose bleed and so the test had to be repeated. Due to the amount of bleeding, the test had to be repeated another 2 times.
4. The results did not come back within 24-48 hours as Boots advertised. When you read the small print on their website states, "Whilst every effort will be made, we cannot guarantee results will be received within 48 hours" and if this happens then you should call customer care.
5. I expected customer care to be provide information, advice and help but after waiting over 30 minutes on the phone I finally go through to customer care. The operator was rude and impatient. He pretended to not hear me and when I spoke a bit louder and slower, he simply snapped at me to say he can hear me fine. He also put the phone down on me right after snapping at me, "I can't hear you", this is after he managed to take down my details and asked me what time my flight was.
6. I went to the Boots branch where I had the test for help. The store where the test was taken claims to have no way of chasing the test result. The assistant manager called customer care and waited over 40 minutes to speak to someone. The customer care team said they cannot get hold of the lab but will try to get hold of the lab. They cannot say how much longer it will take for me to get my result.
7. Whilst I was waiting at the branch, another poor lady rushed in as she has also been waiting for her results for more than 48 hours. She was going to miss her flight. This appalling level of service is frequent and common.

In the end, I missed my flight.

The moral of the story is Boots do not care about their customers. They have a poor system in place to book tests, carry out tests, processing the tests or resolving any hiccups along the way. If you have waited over 48 hours then you may wait forever; they cannot say how much longer you have to wait for your test results. It is unacceptable for people to pay for a service with unforeseeable and infinite delivery time. Please go elsewhere so you don't go through the nightmare that I went through.

Avoid as you won't receive results

It's the first time I use trustpilot but I feel the need to warn others as I had a terrible experience and wouldn't want anyone to go through this ordeal. I found hard to choose a supplier in the jungle of hundreds of available ones, therefore I thought it would be safe to pay premium by choosing a reputable high street name like Boots but it was a huge mistake. I sent my day 2 sample on the 2nd of September and 9 days later I'm still waiting for the results. I called 3 times and waited 45 minutes in a queue to be promised my case would be escalated and to keep checking on the portal as my results would be uploaded or otherwise a new test would be sent. Neither materialised and I need to call again which is an absolute disgrace. My advice is to avoid them at all cost, because they're overpriced and clearly are failing to provide the service.

Time wasted

I have just wasted 2 hours of my life attempting to register myself and my wife on the Covid 19 test site.I eventually managed to get my details registered but I cannot register my wife due to problems with passwords. My test has been sent to Boots but I have given up on my wife’s test. looking at these comments, I am not the only one. If 75% of Boots customers have a problem with the system, it is not fit for purpose, is it just a money making racket? Itwould appear so! Shame on you Boots!!

Covid test scam

I paid a for a day-2 test via Boots and they never sent the test kit and no test was done. I tried calling them more than 20 times and spent few hours waiting for someone to pick up the phone but had to give up. I should have checked the reviews first. Shame on the government for approving Boots and not revoking their Covid test licence after this mess. I am asking for a full refund, and they just sent a message that the 'test is non-refundable!! Text-book example of a scam. Will continue to try to get my money back. Shame on Boots for ruining their reputation and their colleague’s reputation.

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. I have been waiting for over 7 days to receive a Day 2 result and can't seem to get hold of anyone to chase what's taking so long. My partner took the same test and got a result within 3 days so why have I been waiting all this time? Have had to take daily lateral flow tests to make sure I'm not spreading germs though I'm conscious they aren't very reliable. For all I/the government knows I could have been spreading covid for the last week. £75 down the drain.

Fine for us, not for fit to fly or anyone in a rush

They did as promised and returned a result, however, it took 5 days. This wasn’t an issue for us as it was only a day 2 test, however, I wouldn’t risk using this company for a fit to fly test. I would recommend C19 or AssuredScreening.com, these are great and fast.

Awful

First test, the 'booking' hadn't gone through (despite receiving confirmation and reminder emails). Had to panic re-book on-site, luckily there weren't any other people waiting to have their tests done. After our holiday, we attended our day five tests, and five days later I am still waiting for the results. What an utter waste of time and money!

Eventual response after 25 days giving day 2 results and returning 1/2 fee as day 8 results not available. They stated tests not registered.
We explained we were already registered as used for predeparture test and web site would not allow new data to be entered.. Refund of remaining £160 refused because customer duty to register! No explanation of web site failure.

Lost test, no refund

Boots lab lost my covid 19, 2 day test. Refuse to give me a refund and are telling me I have to buy another test. I cannot find where it says non refundable and they are crazy to think I'd waste another £82.5 for them to lose another one of my tests.

Not recommended!
Poor service, poor website, poor support.

This is my second time using this service. The first time it worked pretty well for me but not for my husband. This time, he avoided the service completely, while I've decided to give it another go.

I've ordered Day 2/8 tests, which did not arrive on time and I'd to take Day 2 test on day 3 - which I believe it's slightly my fault for ordering the tests on Thursday eve.

So, I've done and posted my Day 2 test on Monday, which apparently wasn't delivered until Wednesday morning. Well.. we are now on day 6 and I still don't have my result.

Good thing that I purchased the Test To Release for day 5 from another provider, otherwise I'd have just paid for all these tests without being able to break quarantine after day 5.

It's a real shame that this service (and don't make me start on the website..) is so poor considering that is not even cheap.

We are travelling quite often, so Boots just lost 2 good customers.

All in all, do not recomend this service.

IMHO do not use

I don't think a website/service has ever stressed me out like this one. I ordered the 2 day PCR tests for myself and my wife before we went away. I got an acknowledgement back with a refence number. F/F to two days before coming home and on my Passenger Location Form I had to enter the code for the test. No the reference no. was not recognised after a wasted half an hour trying to phone I e mailed. The reply was to click on a link which took me to the recova site. Password required, not a clue as I did not have it with me. Finally reset the password which took me to a page which only displayed our names from which I could amend details or sign out. Could not proceed. After 4 seperate attempts at signing in I had a page up which gave me my number. By this time it was less than a day before I flew home. A week later Boots replied.

Now i have the tests which for some ridiculous reason I have to activate first. Same palaver until I got a page which allowed me to activate. Found the microscopic bar code and successfully activated my test. Now, however I cannot get back to the activate page for my wife's one. No matter if how oftenI sign in it still keepscoming up with my details.

IMHO I recommend everyone to avoiid Boots because the politest thing I can say about the webste is that it is crap. I only hope that later today I can manage my wife's activation

I have since tried to sign in only to be told my password is incorrect (despite me having it written down). I have tried three times using "forgot password" but I have not had a single e mail.
