Cordless strimmer
Cordless strimmer - dead after a short period of time and B&D won’t do anything.
Purchase a battery powered cordless strimmer in 2024, some time ago you may say but this has only been used in the summer obviously so is essentially only a year old, it has now stopped working at the start of its third season, the battery charges but the item itself won’t work.
Contacted black and decker and they say I have to pay to get it repaired, I purchase this from Amazon and they informed me that it was still under B&D warranty, so what a poor service and wasted money for an item which definitely does not stand the test of time.
It should last more than 12 months use for a £100 purchase - terrible!
I shall be purchasing from a reputable brand and never from B&D again, they used to have a poor reputation, well let me say that this is still the case!
Very poor - don’t waste your money on B&D!!
Joke company
Bought a hover mower and need correct spacers. Black and decker said what? Told me to see the supplier as they had no idea, even though they are the manufacturer.
Faulty battery - but no customer service
I had a Black and Decker strimmer which I had bought but not used immediately. When I did open the box to use it, the battery was totally dead. I put a voltmeter on it, and the conclusion was that it not just flat, but faulty. So I contacted Customer Services - and have heard absolutely nothing back, not even an acknowledgement.
Moral of the story :-
1. test all their products immediately, they might not work
2. dont expect any service from "Customer Services"

My B&D electric screwdriver wouldn't charge while still in warranty. B&D had it collected. The courier then lost it.
B&D wouldn't offer a refund for my loss, only a replacement. I didn't want another of their products, but had to accept something to avoid losing out completely.
Rubbish customer support.
Mouldy workmate wood
Purchased the black and decker workmate, within a month the wooden tops started going black on the edges, this is mould, cleaned and wiped with antibacterial cleaner, came back time and time again.
As previously mentioned by others black and decker won't warranty the issue saying its lack of maintenance by myself, how do you maintain a wooden top on a workbench?
My father still has his one over 25 years old and not an issue this is poor quality materials used, cheap parts.
Avoid all their products and accept they don't do warranty
8months before i purchased one…
8months before i purchased one mixure.now not working.i caontcted their teams, very pathetic response and very worst experience.worst product and very worst service
This is the worst piece of equipment…
This is the worst piece of equipment I've ever bought, struggles to draw paint in tube, then wouldn't roll, I was trying to put more paint in tube, but then would not draw anymore in, then it started leaking paint out , a brand new speedy roller, going straight in the bin, what a waste of money, if anyone else trying to buy one ,I wouldn't bother,
This was once a brilliant brand. I take absolutely no pleasure in…
I take absolutely no pleasure in leaving this review for what should still be a fantastic brand. A brand that I have personally recommended in the past.
I am sure that once I get my Black and Decker product to work, it will be good, but the problem is it doesn't work and the after sales service is just woeful. Can I explain?
All product have a possibility of going wrong and this new B & D chainsaw, effectively straight out of the box, does not work. In my words, the sign of a good business (like Black & Decker should be and always was), is not that their product has failed, but how they respond when it does.
The first issue is that the retailer does not seem to have any way of honouring the warranty, that is only via B & D Technical Support. First dealings with "David" there, could not be faulted - excellent!. However, the fault was wrongly diagnosed as being the power. supply. I had to video the issue and then send the old power supply back, to be tested and if found faulty, a new one would be despatched. A few days later, the new power supply was received, but the chainsaw still does not work.
So, the second issue is that rather than send the whole (still boxed) item back to them to test, I have now been asked to send back the battery. (Strict instructions not to send anything else).
On the 19th August 2025, sent back (using their couriers, with proof via UPS), heard nothing.
So yesterday, 3rd September, I chased, dealt with someone called "James". Initially think misread my email as told me how to register a warranty claim. When I told that the claim was already in course, told me there was no record. Finally agreed that there was a claim in place, but, according to B & D, "the battery had only arrived on 2nd September" and had taken from 19th August to 2nd September to arrive. He went on to say would take another 5 days to be looked at. The impression given was that a decision would then be made and I assume using UPS to deliver back, I might get the battery back in another 2 weeks after that.
From the way it was explained, it appears that I should be grateful as it was not their fault that they were using UPS to send the item back and I was being unreasonable in expecting anything quicker.
And definitively no apology.
So just to summarise, new product, bought in December, straight out of box to use in early August and does not work. Not a problem? But, it is likely to have taken 5 or 6 weeks to get sorted.
I was really startled to see the overall score for Black & Decker and looking at some reviews, saw a similar thread. I hope anyone reading this at B & D, will realise that (in a very competitive world) businesses will not survive with a bad reputation. On my recent experience, cannot recommend Black & Decker, Stanley or De Walt group products, even though I have all of these currently.
I am more than happy to re-write this review, if I see sign that the service I have received was just a one off!
Is it any wonder why foreign countries…ice
Is it any wonder why foreign countries are doing so much better than us. I'd rather do and buy business in the Peruvian jungle than call B/D's deplorable Irish Cork branch, They have kept me waiting three months.
Other than drive to Belfast or arrange a local delivery of their/my dud Leaf blower after using it only three times, and the man who took my query whoever he is, forgets me, he puts his phone in a busy tone, never keeping me posted , initially spinning his Balearney once or twice like he's used to it, no care about his employer's patrons who keep him in a job and his peers, notwithstanding his employer in business. Can they really afford to keep this liability on before his awful corporate attitude becomes contagious to the whole team. They lost my patronage to start with, and I'll tell all who I know. That's all because of a negative attitude toward his employers patrons/customers.
Frank Clark Ltd (ROI) - great, B & D (UK) - useless
I live in Northern Ireland and needed a battery repaired/replaced for a Black and Decker lawn mower. B & D UK were of no help whatsoever (thanks mainly to Brexit) but referred me to Frank Clark Ltd. James O'Sullivan arranged the repair/replacement very professionally and I would like to thank him for dealing with what B & D UK should have done. I can totally recommend Frank Clark Ltd for all B & D repairs both in NI and ROI.
BES720 Table Saw
BES720 Table Saw
On the positives:
The bed is great quality, made from cast metal, rather than the usual pressed steel.
The saw’s tubular frame is well designed and built.
It’s cheap.
On the negatives:
The power on switch is twitchy and seems to decide when to stay on or not.
It’s very loud.
The saw blade doesn’t stay in place very well, in terms of angle and can move of its own accord.
The fence is a clip and release arrangement that gets in the way of large stock.
Bits of plastic fell off mine while assembling. They weren’t important, but it did reflect on the quality of the build.
All in all I would definitely suggest saving your pennies for a better saw. This is cheap, but there’s a reason it’s cheap.
I am happy with my choice of B&D drill.
I bought a Black and Decker cordless drill, it is a first class product, the battery life is excellent, assembled a 10x8 shed ( 185 screws approx ) and the battery was still going strong, happy with my choice.
A Fire Hazard and Zero Accountability
A Fire Hazard and Zero Accountability – Deeply Disappointed
I purchased a Black & Decker fan heater via Amazon in February 2025. Three weeks ago, I switched it on—and it burst into flames. Thankfully, I was still in the room and managed to turn off the power, which stopped the fire. I can’t bear to think what might have happened had I left the heater unattended.
I contacted Amazon customer support, who directed me to reach out to Black & Decker directly. To my surprise, Black & Decker does not offer any customer support by phone—only via email. I explained the incident in full and offered to retain the heater in case they wished to inspect it for faults. I also requested a refund.
The response I received from Black & Decker was astonishing. They claimed the heater wasn’t actually made by them, but by a third-party company operating under license. They provided contact details and told me to take it up with that company.
What followed was a frustrating and fruitless attempt to contact the licensee. Their phone line was never answered, and my emails went unanswered as well.
I returned to Black & Decker to explain that their licensed partner was completely unresponsive. Their reply? A dismissive statement that it wasn’t their problem.
Eventually, I received a refund from Amazon after escalating the issue—but I was shocked to see the same heater still being sold on the site.
Given the number of alarming reviews about Black & Decker here on Trustpilot, I strongly believe this company should be investigated. It is unacceptable for a well-known brand to allow products to be sold under their name without taking any responsibility for their safety or customer service.
Black And Decker Don't Honour Warranty/Guarantee
Bought a black and decker fan, as many reviews on here 1 * they won't honour there 2 year guarantee, stuck with a dead product its faulty! Such a waste of money and planet resources. I will not buy from them again .
Customer services are shocking no help at all .
No easy point of contact.
Products are rubbish
Jigsaw - the bed bent and the blade jumps out of guide. Angle grinder - just keeps cutting out. Strimmer - auto feed has never worked. Only bought these because I had the batteries big mistake - don't buy these products.......
Non-existent service
At the end of December 2024 I bought an Air fryer, a few weeks ago it stopped working, I replaced the fuse but nothing changed, I contacted the various contacts in the instruction booklet and on the site, they all replied that it is not their product, they only granted the license, I asked to give me the contacts of those who deal with this type of products, I received a contact that refers me to them. Absolutely shameful, non-existent service, thieves!
Excellent customer service from the…
Excellent customer service from the Dewalt team at the Spennymoor store.
10/10.
AVOID THEIR PRODUCTS
Purchased a mouse sander in August 2022 and used once. On attempting to use it today, I found the velcro part came off for no apparent reason, meaning you can't attach a sanding sheet. On calling Black and Decker was told nothing they can do. I appreciate it's JUST out if warranty but after very little use, I wouldn't expect to have to replace it. I'll NEVER buy from them again!
Do not buy from Black and Decker.
Do not buy from Black and Decker.
I bought one of their cordless drills from Argos. Started to stop working after a few uses. I called Argos and they said I have to contact black and Decker. Black and decker kept asking for emails with serial number, photos etc and after 3 weeks still product not returned. Avoid them.
Black and Decker customer service is…
Black and Decker customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Never ever buy anything from them because if you have a problem it will not get resolved. Product quality is vey poor. I had a complaint on a faulty workmate I provided photos receipts etc etc . I had to repeat myself many times and no apologies so I still have a rubbish product.
