Note how the good reviews are generated in reply to their email asking for feedback straight after purchase. They judge the purchase process, not the actual claim process or company honesty. They do have very misleading policies and documentation. You are sent a document that includes very clearly with the ✅ icon personal effects. But of course, that is actually optional. Written in a way that makes you think you are buying a good insurance. It is one of the most expensives I have ever bought, and I wish I looked into the more traditional ones.

Straight forward policy and easy to navigate around the site. Pre-existing medical cover is separate to the main policy, but is easy to complete.

Couldn’t recommend big cat enough, I dislocated my wrist and broke a bone in my arm whilst going for a morning run in koh samui, immediately went to the hospital and contacted big cat, the bill was quite expensive to say the least however once big cat got the medical report from the surgeon here they paid for it all including my stay in hospital, operation the full works, really was a relief as I was super stressed being in a foreign country looking at a big bill, the only payment I had to make was the £150 excess which is nothing in hindsight. It is really hard to find backpacker's insurance when of a certain age (60+). Even more hard when the extended time is over a year.
