Very smooth process for getting and picking up the car, we got a quite new and fresh car with a size in line with what we expected. We had a bit of delay when returning the car but we got a good heads up in advance so that we could plan around it!

I have hired cars at home (UK) and abroad for over 4 decades now. I accept that technology has influenced the ease of the transaction in more recent times but last week I had the most pleasing car hire experience when collecting a hire car at Faro airport with Best Deal. Friendly and very quick. No hard sell for extra insurance as is usually the case in my experience or other scams to increase the premium.

For our holiday in the Algarve, with my wife, two kids and our nephews, we booked a Seat Arona (or similar). Pickup from the airport went flawless. Car turned out to be a brand new Skoda Kamiq (which is perfectly similar) and as added bonus was an automatic, while we booked manual.

I also had a small request which actually wasn’t really allowed by company rules, but because the man who helped us, Joao, said he saw us as “nice and friendly” people (his words! :) ) he trusted us and “it” was allowed.

Joao was very friendly overal. He explained everything well, and gave us a few recommendations in the area. He also advised us to walk around the car and inspect it, and take photos. This is something I always do when picking up rentals, but it was still kind of him to point out. We got the paperwork done and drove off. I must admit the 2000,- deposit was pretty steep, but reading the reviews I trusted it would go well.

During rental periods we had a few questions and the phone was answered immediately and the advice was helpful.

Drop off went exactly as easy as pickup, this time we were helped by Henrique. Inspection was quick, and we were dropped of at the airport again. When Joao spotted us he walked over to ask us how our holiday was, and if everything went okay with the rental car.

We had a great time and I can only recommend Best Deal wholeheartedly! Please avoid Sixt, Europcar and similar companies, read their reviews why!

A no fuss, no nonsense company that does a great job for a great price.

Backed by a professional, polite and personable team, fluent in several languages (a special thank you to Bruno, Beatriz and Diogo for going far and beyond the call of duty - it is a pleasure to meet people in the service industry who actually want to serve), Best Deals fleet of cars are brand new and in pristine condition. Really efficient and friendly local company. Only a few minutes from the airport, nice, clean, low mileage cars. Will definitely use them again.

Where to start - I will never use this company again.

We booked a car for three weeks and were provided with a Citroen C3 with over 96,000 km on the clock. The car had been well used and the engine had no power in it - had to drop down into first to go up any incline. The engine management system fault light came on as we picked up the car and stayed on throughout the duration of the hire.

Cleaned the car inside and out before it was returned. The man at the office inspected the car and claimed it was ‘excessively dirty’ - he claimed a few grains of sand down the side of the driver’s seat amounted to ‘excessive dirt’. I disagreed and he refused to explain why this amounted to the car being ‘excessively dirty’. I also complained about the poor condition of the car and why we were provided a vehicle that had a fault. His response ‘What do you care, you’re not buying it are you.’ Unbelievably rude and unapologetic. I refused to pay the cleaning charge of 30 euros and he said he would call the police and refused to drop me back at the airport. Before walking back to the airport I took a video of the inside of the car.

I was left to walk along the busy dual carriage way back to the airport. As I got to the roundabout at the airport, the man from Best Car had driven to the roundabout and reported me to the police. The police stopped me, interrogated me and made me delete the video. They then eventually let me go.

I have been holidaying in Portugal ever year for more than 20 years and always had a hire vehicle. I have never had any issues with any other hire company. This was the first time I had used Best Car, and as I said at the beginning, I will never use them again.

They are a very shoddy outfit. The vehicle we were provided with was in very poor condition and their customer service was truly shocking. Their headline prices might appear reasonable but they are intent on racking up the price through hidden and arbitrary charges.

Very small metal dent , very hard to see and feel was detected at the return inspection. The size like 10 cent coin and and no damage on the car paint. Although inspection photos were taken at the delivery we were not allowed to see those as they were for "internal use". Just to mention there were a lot of other documented damages/scratches at the delivery. but this small dent was not noticed. As the damage was seen as minor, we had to pay "only 50% of the price" according to the official price. Best Deal will never repair this, so watch out for this company !
15 days after this complaint in Trustpilot, Best Deal changed their opinion about the "damage" and returned the paid money for this. This was just due to the fact of my complaint in Trustpilot. The company says thay have had an extensive discussion about their service and hopefully they have improved by now.

You have to walk to P4 parking area. There is no person there awaiting you. You need to call Best Deal for them to pick you up and transfer to their office (sort of expected). They were friendly and explained everything clearly and booking in took some time. There was a choice of cars and ours was ok and cleaned. However having to catch an early flight meant they were NOT OPEN. The hire car had to be returned back to P4 leaving ticket and key in the car. THERE WAS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE of 35 Euro. Had I known this I would have avoided transfer and fee by hiring a car from the airport terminal. So please be aware.

We rented a 9 seater in May. Good value, professional/courteous service. No issues at all. I would highly recommend!
