I’ve had mixed experiences with the British Dental Association. While some staff, like Michael and Sarah, offered great support and advice, the overall service can feel inconsistent. Certain aspects of membership are helpful, but I personally think the value doesn’t always reflect the cost. It’s useful but not extraordinary—3 stars.

As a first-time dental practice owner, I faced significant challenges during the early months of inheriting an existing practice. One of the most difficult situations involved a key member of staff who, supported by an extremely aggressive union representative, made persistent efforts to pressure me into a procedural error. Their actions, which bordered on harassment, were clearly designed to threaten me with an employment tribunal—a situation that felt like a real-life shakedown. Those six months were incredibly stressful, leaving me feeling trapped in my own business, dreading work, and struggling to balance the demands of my young family. It was an emotionally and physically exhausting time.
Fortunately, Jacinta, Sabina, and the rest of the consultancy team at the BDA stepped in. They provided expert guidance at every step, giving me not only the advice I needed but also the reassurance and confidence that things would improve.
Now, nearly a year into ownership, I am free from the shackles of poor-performing staff and feel extremely happy. I can finally look forward to the future and watch my business thrive under new management. The BDA’s expertise, thoroughness, and kindness have been invaluable, and their support has transformed what was once a draining experience into an exciting and optimistic chapter of my professional journey.

I recently had a CQC inspection. When I initially received the email , all I could think of was that I need help !
