Barrabes nació en el pueblo de Benasque, en los Pirineos.
En los años 90 decidimos abrir, en ese pequeño y aislado lugar, la tienda de montaña más grande de España, entre las más grandes de Europa.
Nos atrevimos porque apostamos por algo que, entonces, sonaba a magia: INTERNET: vimos una oportunidad única para quienes, como nosotros, vivían en las montañas.
Nuestra tienda online fue de las primeras de Europa en abrirse, en cualquier ámbito, y pronto fuimos una referencia en el comercio online.
A día de hoy, seguimos siendo líderes en el sector porque nunca hemos dejado de intentar mejorar y hacerlo lo mejor posible. Pero también porque nuestra incansable pasión por la montaña nos impulsa a que así sea.

Hallo! Am Sonntag, dem 7. Juli trat ich als GR11 Wanderer mit zerfallenden Hoka Speedgoat Schuhen und vom Mittelmeer kommend in den Barrabes in Benasque. Hervoragende Beratung und Bedienung und der Verkauf von einem Paar "La Sportiva", genau der richtige Schuh für mich! Mittlerweile, nach 33 tägiger wunderbarer Tour, bereits wieder in Deutschland ein Dankeschön an den Verkäufer, der sogar (und total ernst gemeint :-)) in drei/vier Wochen deutsch zu lernen versprach. Danke und Gruß aus Almanya Hello! On Sunday July 7th, I entered the Barrabes in Benasque as a GR11 hiker wearing crumbling Hoka Speedgoat shoes and coming from the Mediterranean. Excellent advice and service and the sale of a pair of “La Sportiva”, exactly the right shoe for me! In the meantime, after a wonderful 33-day tour, I'm back in Germany and I'd like to say a big thank you to the seller, who even (and really meant it seriously :-)) promised to learn German in three/four weeks. Excellent service. I ordered a pack at the end of the day on a Tuesday, and it arrived at my door in North East Scotland the following Tuesday. No extra customs or duties needed to be paid as Barrabes had taken care of that. Thanks.

Dirty item, partial refund denied
I received a jacket with stains and sent photos to support. For some reason they forced me to take a few more photos of the product from both sides, and then they said that the product should be sent to the manufacturer for inspection. "If they accept the claim, they will either repair, replace or refund the item". Send to the manufacturer a product that the seller sent dirty.. No words..

Extra customs costs
I bought a Garmin watch in this shop. Initially everything went fine. However, 4 days after receiving the item I also received an invoice from the Swiss customs with an additional invoice of almost 100 CHF to pay (customs and VAT). In the order confirmation from Barrabes states clearly: "MwSt. enthalten". In no place during the order process was mentioned the extra customs or VAT costs I would incur, even though I set the country to Switzerland and set the delivery address. This never happened to me before, I feel scammed.

However, both in our purchasing conditions and again at checkout it is clearly stated that "orders shipped outside of the EU are VAT exempt but may be subject to customs duties and handling fees in the country of delivery. Any additional costs of this type are not included at the time of order confirmation and are to be paid by the customer. For additional information, please contact the customs agency in your country."

Deceiving return policy
Be careful with returns! It used to be a very honest online store but they recently changed their policy and omit the new conditions from the website.
You now have to pay for the return costs but they just fine-tuned the text of their sales T&Cs and do not explicitly say this. Very deceiving and dishonest practice, especially if you were a regular client - you would expect that it would be very clear that conditions have changed.
Not buying there ever again!
