I've been extremely happy with Barkibu. Everything is fully digital, so there's no paperwork or the need to call customer support. Managing claims through the app is quick, simple, and hassle-free.

Their response time has been excellent, and I've always found the reimbursement process to be fast and generous. For around €20 per month, I personally couldn't find a better value in the Portuguese market. The plan offers up to €3,000 in annual coverage with 80% reimbursement for eligible veterinary expenses, which was better than the alternatives I compared before signing up.

Overall, it's modern, transparent, and gives me real peace of mind knowing my pet is protected. The only thing I'd love to see is the option to add third-party liability (civil responsibility) insurance to the policy. That would make Barkibu the complete package.

Highly recommended to any pet owner looking for excellent coverage at a fair price.

Actually I was sceptical about the payments after the annual checkup on the vet . Little did I know ! I scan the vet's receit ,the vet's signature on the vaccine and within an hour the money was in the bank . Great job guys ,i certainly going to tell about you ,to other dog and cat mum's!!!

This company is terrible! Impossible to speak with a human, everything is AI. I bought a policy, received an email confirmation, and have never been able to use the app, which is the only way to do anything. I try to contact customer service, and they keep telling me to fill out a form, and then finally I get an email back saying they canceled the policy! no reason given, no email, nothing. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

This is the best insurance for my cat

It is very easy to use, fast and reliable.

Signing up was very appealing, and the registration process was smooth. However, once I became a customer, I found the cancellation process to be far less accommodating.

My kittens have a medical condition, and my veterinarian advised against implanting a microchip until they are six months old. Because of this, Barkibu will not reimburse any veterinary expenses until they have been microchipped.

What makes this even more frustrating is that reimbursements only apply to expenses from the previous three months. Since I have to wait at least four months before my cats can receive their microchips, all of the expenses incurred during that period will be ineligible for reimbursement. In other words, I would be paying for a service that provides me with no benefit for several months, which simply doesn’t make sense.

They pay very fast and the process is easy.

I requested the reimbursement for my dog's vaccines. After submitting all the necessary documents, I'm asked to add a veterinary report... for a vaccine.
When contacting the support WhatsApp line, they can't even check what's going on with the case and why any additional documentation is being requested.

The procedure is simple and the payments/refunds very quick.

Add in English, form in English but then I get the offer in a different language? And the page is not translatable. Very disappointing.

I had Barkibu for only 3 months and so far I had a very good experience with them. They paid back my claims for vet visits and tests quite quickly! Definitely worth having an insurance! It's a pity they discontinued the Barkibu card as I found it quite handy.

A huge shout out and thank you to Barkibu team. We moved to Lisbon from Canada and comparing all dog insurance policies, found Barkibu as having a superior policy that is reliable and efficient to support the health needs of our large German Shepherd. Barkibu provides details of their decisions, and the app has options to support shelters with the cashback! To top it all, I find Bai on Whatsapp quite amazing, so quick with thoughtful responses that has made our life so much easier, especially as the policy details are in Portugues.
