Poor workmanship

Site pictures of shoes were far brighter than when I actually received them,they appeared dull and unattractive. Barker Shoes I've purchased from shops in the past have been of exceptional quality, unfortunately, these ,off the net,far from lack that,shoddy workmanship, and actually wonder if this is an actual genuine BARKER site !!
I'm a 10 and these were like an 11/12 ,ridiculous!! I have pics to prove of this poor workmanship, won't be buying off the net again !

The shoes were well made up to the usual standard of Barker Shoes, have been wearing various types of shoes and have always found these to be first class.
First time buying shoes on-line and found it to be a very good experience.

My third pair of Barker shoes

My third pair of Barker shoes, the previous two pairs I purchased from a local retailer, I used those sizes when ordering this pair, usual Barker quality and the fit was perfect. On the original delivery date the driver (PDP) couldn’t find the address!!!! Fortunately the following day the driver could find us this which isn’t a fault of Barker, so all in all a good experience and I would order again.

Disappointing Customer Service from a…

Disappointing Customer Service from a "Premium" Brand
I purchased a pair of Barker Camborne Xtra Lite Chelsea Boots in November 2025. Within weeks, a recurring defect appeared: every time the boots get wet, a white line forms along the seam where the sole meets the leather upper. It can be temporarily wiped away, but reappears consistently after drying. This appears to be an adhesive or construction fault.
As someone who owns footwear from other brands including RM Williams, Grenson, and Loake, I've never experienced this issue under similar conditions. I contacted Barker directly—not seeking a refund, but to inform them of what appears to be a manufacturing defect that may affect other customers.
The response from their Customer Service was deeply disappointing. Rather than showing any interest in the product fault, I was simply told that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I needed to contact the retailer, not the manufacturer. When I pointed out that surely they would want to know about a potential defect in their products, the response was the same: "procedures laid down by Barker management."
While I understand the legal position regarding contracts of sale, I expected a premium heritage brand to care about product quality and manufacturing issues. Other premium brands I've dealt with have always shown interest when defects are reported, regardless of where the item was purchased.
The concerning part isn't the legal technicality—it's the complete lack of interest in their own product quality. A manufacturer should want to know if there's a construction fault that could affect multiple customers. Instead, Barker chose to hide behind regulations and effectively told me to go away.
I'm now pursuing the matter through the retailer as advised, but Barker's attitude has ensured I won't be purchasing from them again. For a brand trading on heritage and quality, their customer service suggests they're more interested in avoiding responsibility than maintaining standards.
Would I recommend Barker Shoes? Not based on this experience. There are plenty of other British shoemakers who care about both their craft and their customers.

I have bought Barker shoes for many…

I have bought Barker shoes for many years, as a shoe of very high quality, which were priced accordingly. These boots were of very poor quality - the leather was of poor quality both in feel and look. What a shame.

No information regarding delivery and…

No information regarding delivery and tracking when i phoned i got an email to say the factory had forgotten my order and that the order would be sent out that day in desberation i went down to the branch in st james and they gave me the tracking n̈o and time of delivery still no info by email will go to the branch in st james next time excellant service from them

Shoes sent are too small

Shoes of the same size and width but a different style as others l have purchased from Barkers in the past do not fit.
They are a full size too small l would imagine and a standard not wide fitting.

Very good

Due to uncertainty about the size, I sent an enquiry directly to customer service. I received a comprehensive reply on the same day. I placed my order online and it was processed quickly. The shoes were delivered to Poland without any additional customs fees charged by the courier. The shoes themselves are high quality. I would recommend this product. We will see if I still feel the same way after some time.

Wrong fitting advertised

Ordered the Stansted shoes arrived on schedule and looked good on opening only to find they wasn't the fitting I wanted I ordered a G fitting but got sent a F fitting after 2 emails was told there's a mistake on the website stating they don't do a G fitting so I'm left with shoes that feels tighter than I would av liked so I can't score higher than a 1 star

The shoes will fit perfectly from the moment you put them on and the insoles relax to the shape of your foot. Delivery was in two days. Although some people might feel they are on the expensive side they will outlast any cheaper shoe by years!!!

Refund Nightmares

I have purchased many pairs of barker shoes over the years. I have always been more than happy. However I have returned a pair of boots only because fit is not quite right. It has been impossible to sort my refund. I was on chat box waiting for hours with no joy. However , after speaking to someone directly it was resolved straight away. I much prefer the good old system of customer care. Thank you.

Attentive Customer Service

In a time when genuine customer services are generally found to be lacking - - I had the pleasure of dealing with Lisa, a member of the Barker Shoes Reception Team, in Earls Barton, Northampton. I made contact via email regarding an exchange and the level of service provided, specifically the attention to detail was second to none. Lisa made certain that I was aware of the Christmas opening times, advising me not to ship until after 5 Jan 2026, purely to ensure that my return did not get lost in the Christmas rush. Shoes seem ok, presentation a bit lacking...

Shoes delivered within an OK amount if time - 5 days from time of ordering. Bought on sale as a gift, so you'd expect them to be in decent shape, sale or no sale, even the shoe box right?
Well, wrong, box was torn and looked crushed on one corner... I checked the shoes over and on the face of it they seem ok...
Contemplating whether to keep or not.. I mean, they are not for me but a gift, but you'd want the gift presentable right?

Chatbot useless... tried getting in touch with a real person, nothing, just got a reference number. Sent a message to the online email address... no response. As with some other reviews I've just read... customer service doesn't seem to be very good...

Really disappointing complaints…

Really disappointing complaints service, No one will write back to you.
Definitely not worth £300 - your better spending your money on loakes or cheaney. The leather has came away from the sole after only a few times wearing! I wrote with a complaint and still awaiting a reply or receipt of email!

My shoes were faulty

My shoes were delivered with a strap not stitched, obviously an issue with quality control, communication wasn’t great either, both disappointing as this was my 4th pair of Barker shoes, I haven’t decided if I have been totally put off as the other pairs I have are excellent.
