Bank good, Renting awful

I have found the bank to be very good with very helpful staff in the branch, not so much at head office.
Sabadell Renting is another story, exceptionally rude and unhelpful customer service, they say no one in the office at that time who can speak English and yet you can clearly hear another conversation going on in English. We were left without a vehicle for 3 months because the person dealing with us was totally incompetent. A red warning light on the dash means do not drive as the manual and VW ES. She would not accept this and said it only meant to have a service. She supposedly booked 3 separate appointments with the garage and each time they knew nothing about it. Bearing in mind we had to drive 100km in a car that the manufacturers said do not drive. Eventually she realised that there was a problem and we asked for a courtesy car as our contract. She arranged for one over 100km away and said we would need to collect it.
The repair garage found that rodents had chewed through the wires and it was extremely dangerous!!
I asked for a refund but the department closed ranks and declined

Not professionally run at all

Not professionally run at all , put a freeze on our account saying we failed to present documents which we went into branch to do but they now have no record of, I used the app to complain and try to sort the situation out, Kevin was unhelpful and now my app is saying wrong log in details 5 attempts to log in, they shouldn't be allowed to play around with people personal information and their finances , we now will have direct debit bounce , do not go with them at all costs

That visa card costs €90

I spent another glorious morning in Sabadell trying to close my account. I made an appointment requested manager but got the cashier. They charged me €90 for having a visa card. I asked the useless bot on the app why I need to pay the €90 annual fee when it's only June. No answer just more irrelevant suggestions. I tried to pay the €90 using pagofacil as they were hassling me every day. It did not work. Four times I tried. In the end I did a transfer from Caixa bank. Today they charged me a further €19:97 because I did not pay up in time. Furious. I pay them for their technical failures?? Vote with your feet.

I have tried closing my account but keep getting error code when trying to transfer my remaining balance to UK account because they won't close it unless it's Zero balance tried calling then told someone will call back to solve problem but no one does ring again same thing just going round and round. Please keep away from this bank charges you don't know about it's criminal.

★☆☆☆☆ Nightmare: Account Closed, Zero Communication

★☆☆☆☆ Nightmare Scenario: Account Closed, Money Trapped, Zero Communication

Absolutely appalling and frankly, illegal. Banco Sabadell has inexplicably closed our joint account with my husband, trapping our money, despite us having sent all requested documents multiple times – marriage certificate, pension papers, passports, everything – via various methods, and confirmed receipt on calls. We live abroad, which makes this even more of a nightmare.

After weeks of sending documents into a black hole, receiving no answers to our letters, and being unable to reach a human being on any reliable customer service line, we received a threatening letter stating our account was closed due to "lack of documentation." This is a flat-out lie. Our funds are now inaccessible, and the bank offers no avenue for resolution or even basic communication.

This is not just bad service; it's a complete failure of responsibility and a breach of trust. How can a bank simply confiscate funds and cut off all contact? Avoid Banco Sabadell, especially if you are a non-resident. You risk losing access to your own money with no recourse. Unacceptable.

The 20 maj in the middle of my…

The 20 maj in the middle of my treatment of heart attack. I had to travel to Spain. My house was vandalism. I call the insurence department . And they was helpfull they house was not to live in due to damage and fungus in the house. 10 days later I made a claim for rehousing whice stands in my terms of insurence. They ask me to find hotel even in the term say they will take charge of finding rehousing. so when I arrive back with my 3 children . 2 years old. 6 years old and 11 years old. 1 juli 2025 nothing was ready. I call the insurence the 29 .2 days before arrival and had a talk with nice insurence agent . He sad that was not ready because the offer I got from the hotel was in word dokument and not in a pdf. I ask why did you tell prior the rehousing claim was from the 10 June. He could not answer and I am driving 3000 km with 3 kids so we this agreement that he make everything ready so I don't stand on the street with 3 children and I should contact the hotel and ask for offer in pdf whice I did and send it to them. So arrive late the 30 around 22. So in the morning at 1 july I call them this time I talk with Marisus a very unpleasant conversation where he don't know the rules of having a conversation keept interrupting when I ask for the rehousing. The conversation heated up as I was on the street with 3 children. He took it very personal and did not understand the siuatation about me and 3 children stands on the street even the rehousing claim was made 10 june. Simpel rules about conversation is when one is speaking .he should should be quiet and when he speak I should be quiet. So he hang up leaving us on the street . We slept in a tent until to 2 July and I try to call again. This time I got hold of marlena .she eksplain the ekspert will take dession on the rehousing he had visit the property the 17 juni . My spanish tenant told he came look outside on the 2 roof and the electricity boks and said no one can come near this as it was broken and someone can loose their life if they touch it. I eksplain marlena the same ekspert whom resived the claims on the 21 maj June and pictures from the other company that the insurence have send to the property to take pictures. I ask her how can he take dession when he only saw 2 thing out of the 5 damage claims. She promise to call back 4 hours later as it a urgent matter when I stand on the street with 3 children. When 5.5 hour wad past I call them again . Same thing we have to get the permission from the ekspert I ask to be contacted by marlena as she have promised. She told me that she gonna write to her in their internal system that she have to call me ASAP but no calls or rehousing so we sleep again in a tent. The 3 juli I called around 9 clock this time I got to talk with robetera or something it sound like it was Marisus from the prior conversation . He started to talk down to and say that was not their problem that I need rehousing for me and my children it because so regrading that I hang up the phone whice I never do. The siuatation is too urgent . So I waited 30 min and call back this time Marisius took the phone . I said . Hi it's Peter I am still standing on the street with my 3 children . He just hang the phone up and took my insurence policy into hostage whice he think is personal argument. Total lack of communication skills and unprofessional behavior. They ruin the 1 first week of our holiday And left us on the street . Going into 2 week now still no news about the rehousing or the other 4 claims. They're ekspert don't answer his phone still when I ask for information about the oversight organisation whom protect consumers for this abuse . They said it dont exsist. That a direct lie as I found out . So 5 claims and rehousing I have in my insurence term is becoming a legal battle now I will accept this kind behaviour when your hurt my children. The rest and more detail discribestion will be public aften police rapport and complaint to the spanish oversight of insurence company have been filed.

A total heap of brown stuff. Not even worth spending time outlining their endless incompetence. Pathetic institution. Shows that the regulator has no power or interest in regulating the sector. Shame on Spain

Worst "bank" ever

I think one star is a lot for this so called bank. They are doing all sorts of fraud. I never experienced something like that. Don't understand how they have working license in EU.

Sabadell

Sabadell - most disorganized bank. Their staff do not know what they are doing. They have many unnecessary processes which makes it feel more like a Government organization than a place that manages money.
They are wasting large amounts of money on office space and dysfunctional staff that misguide their clients over and over again.

One star is too much – this bank is stealing from clients

If I could give zero stars, I would. This bank is not just bad—it’s operating in a completely unethical way.

I asked to close my account over a month ago, clearly explaining I no longer needed it. No one replied. Since then, they’ve continued to charge me commissions on an inactive account. Now they’re telling me I can’t close it because it’s overdrawn—because of those very charges. It’s outrageous.

Even worse, this isn’t a rare case. They regularly charge clients without warning, and only if you notice and demand a refund do they return the money. If you don’t catch it, they keep it. Every month it’s the same story. They are literally stealing from people.

Their customer service is a joke—phone chats get cut off, they’re impossible to reach, and they insist you visit a branch in person even for the simplest things, like changing branches or closing an account. And if you don’t live in Barcelona? Too bad. It’s all designed to make it hard for you to leave—and easier for them to keep charging you for nothing.

Unbelievably bureaucratic, deeply frustrating, and totally untrustworthy. Stay away

One of the better Spanish Banks

We have a couple of bank accounts in Spain and for me Banco Sabadell is by far the best. The app works well, no commissions, unlike most Spanish banks. I really would recommend it, there are also a lot of good offers at the moment to earn a bit of money when opening an account and setting up your nomina etc. Give them a go.

This bank is a total disgrace and disgusting! I'd give them below zero if I could! Acting as a bunch of scammers. Avoid them like the plague! You can't close the account, they charge you for nothing, and they never help over phone or emails. Resolving nothing just causing troubles! Avoid! Avoid this so called "bank".

Extremely bad and unhelpful bank and…

Extremely bad and unhelpful bank and they just hang up the phone and tell you to meet in office, you can't do anything over the phone or remotely, there is no communication between them and every time you call, you have to go over everything you just told them once again, if they feel they can't help, they just hang up, they don't even try to help and just leave you hanging.

Cannot recommend this bank to anyone, leave it alone.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever, avoid! We went into the branch in Spain to register a new phone no and passport as our identity. Unfortunately they did only half of it and now we can't submit required documents nor access our online account; they blocked our account. About 6 phone call later as we are back in the UK, nothing has been resolved and it looks like we need to go to Spain just for this and this is an account for non residents! I am absolutely exasperated and fed up with this bank.

Hire a solicitor to close your account and transfer your debits

This has to be the worst bank I have ever come across. As evidenced by the 93% one star reviews. Take my advice. Do what we have just done. Contact your solicitor and pay them to transfer your direct debits to another provider and close your account. If you try to do it yourself they will mess you around endlessly. Despicable organisation

Never experienced anything like it…

My husband opened a Sabadell account firstly in the Canaries - sold apartment then we moved to Alicante (holiday home).
Few problems eg. Queued for ages in bank to pick up new bank card then was told come back tomorrow can’t see you today queue too long - Yes we know we have waited patiently in it. (Had the account for 9years now). Moved Bank account to Orihuela Costa Alicante. Had to tell them our new address several times . A year and a half ago was asked for lots of documentation-fine sent all paperwork Many Many times by post from the Uk. Then Via email 17 times plus going into the local branch 6 times. Had machine swallow card. Was told my husband’s National Insurance no. Isn’t his (had it since he was 15 now 60) REALLY! Long queue-guy in Q said get the gov web page and show them. One person serving BIG LONG Q and for all appointments and everyone else. Now been sending ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED for 18 months. The best one requested was Marriage Cert so sent that then was asked what relationship was between me and my husband- SERIOUSLY! Had 3 phone calls from bank asking if we’d actually been in to branch with documentation? YES 6 times. Then had an email they said-no reply/correspondence from us so they froze our account OMG! Bills to pay WHAT A JOKE. So stressful Laurel and Hardy could run this shambolic bank better.
Can’t say I’ve EVER seen anyone SWAN in this bank just frustrated customers in a long Q waiting to sort out problems that never get resolved. Do any of them like foreigner’s ???? If so they should tell their face AND we pay which would be fine of course BUT not for this Diabolical ‘service’ So now we are getting a solicitor involved.
Don’t go near this bank turn the other way run and keep running. Shambles, unprofessional, uncaring, nightmare, stressful, terrible bank. The saying the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing on steroids. As previous customers have said AVOID AVOID AVOID on the Google reviews.

This is the worst bank in the world

This is the worst bank in the world. No service after moving to another city they don't give me a local manager with whom I can solve my problems. After 800 euros were withdrawn from my card I applied to block these transactions. They were from Japan, the bank refused to block them and a week later withdrew this money saying that these were my purchases. But it faud fraud. They robbed me, there was time to cancel these transactions and the bank did not refuse this and after the investigation they said that I made these purchases by myself, although I did not make them.
They constantly ask to prove the source of income, although my employer has not changed for years. Also high fees for servicing the account, which I was not informed about when opening.
Terrible bank, terrible service and also I had a mortage in this bank the conditions are constantly changing, the interest rates are constantly growing terrible service, please avoid this bank
