Breakdown Renewal.
Libbie was very helpful and answered any questions I asked her and explained things very well.

When my car broke down it was towed to the garage of my choice. I had to wait a couple of hours for the tow truck to arrive, but I guess that is reasonable.
Renewal of the policy was quick and easy.

Happy so far!
Quick and easy to set up breakdown cover. Best price for the cover provided. Hopefully won’t need it though!
Overcharged, late, poor experience all round
On Monday 8th September, just after 7am. I was unfortunate to experience a tyre blowout on the A45 dual carriageway between Coventry and Rugby. This is a busy fast moving road at that time of day.
At 7:22am I phoned Autoaid and received an automated response informing to use a link in a text message, which I then did. I found the web-form to be laborious, tedious and stressful in the extreme as I was on the verge in an unsafe location. Finally, the web interface told me I must pay an extra £25 pounds because my car is over 10 years old and demanded payment before any driver would be dispatched. The payment screen then hung. After 5 minutes I gave up and rang the call centre and paid over the phone. I was informed that the recovery truck would take 50 minutes to arrive.
By 7:50am I was feeling very unsafe and called out the police. They arrived in under 5 minutes and set about making the area safe. When I explained I was carrying a spare wheel, they said they’d cone off the area I could change the wheel, which I duly did. As I tightened the last nut, the recovery truck arrived at 8:23. I simply signed his paperwork and he drove off again having arrived too late to be of any use.
In case you haven’t grasped my dissatisfaction, I will now elaborate:
1. The web interface is appallingly drawn out, asking details which I’m sure are on-file, it’s payment interface is also broken. A complete fail from my perspective.
2. You already inflate my premium due to the age of one of the cars on the policy car, why do I have to pay yet again for actually using the policy? In fact, why am I paying £25 at all when the car I was driving is less than 10 old?
3. I suffered severe tyre damage. This is is no way related to the age of the car, so why are you charging £25 extra?
4. The recovery vehicle did not arrive until 1 hour after my first call. This is not good enough. He was too late to help but you’re still charging me £25.
The combination of points 2 & 3 in my mind amount to scams, so on the basis of those alone, I shall certainly be looking at other options when my renewal is due. I don’t do business with scammers.
I will of course be describing my experience with Autoaid far and wide on social media.
Yours faithfully
Happy to take your money even when they…
Happy to take your money even when they won't provide cover. I went to update my details when I changed my car but was given a message that I was covered for any vehicle I was in. Until I needed to use the cover. Then I'm told the car is too old for their cover, but that didn't stop them taking my payment. Basically just theft.

Just renewed with Autoaid
Just renewed with Autoaid. For both my wife and myself, the premium was a little pricey.
Couple of niggles. I logged into the website to renew, and followed a couple of links about policy documents but then I lost any sight of the renewal button, so had to log out and back in again. Another niggle - every year the policy number changes so I have to update the app. Could we not have a consistent 'Member Number'?
Finally, I had to pay a £10.50 'service fee' on the renewal. What's that all about?
Having said all of this, I have broken down a couple of times over the many years I have been with Autoaid, and the service was always good. So I would still recommend, despite the grumbles. However at £97.04 this year, when both cars on this policy only do around 3/4000 miles per year each and a £25 call out charge on my car as its over 10 years old, then whether it will still be best value next year remains to be seen.

A clear concise easy to navigate website and app.Not made a claim yet so cannot comment on actual breakdown service but I expect it to be as good as their customer service.
Great service today
Great service from start to finish. Recovery man (Steve) phoned me to say he was on his way before I'd even finished making my card payment. Arrived within an hour and half. Was very friendly and chatty and took me to the garage with my car to pick up courtesy car.
Even the girls on phone reception where very helpful and patient too.
Very grateful for the service today. Huge thank you to you all at Autoaid. 👍
