When I purchased the 2 monitors I recently purchased, the website recommended I buy HDMI cords as such I did because I need to plug them into something. When the monitors arrived they were grimy and filthy, of completely different quality to each other and neither had even 1 HDMI port, so I got different connectors and pass through cords so I could at least use them and this still doesn't work, I then contacted ACT to ask for a refund as per their policy and got no response, I then sent a follow up email and still no response, then got the email to rate my latest purchase of which I tried to give 1 star as this experience deserves however if you try and give anything below 3 stars they prompt you to contact them instead so I did this and if you can believe it still no response so I am now leaving this to warn anyone else, I have made purchases from here before and was of acceptable quality for refurbished products but even then I got a hard drive extension on a refurbished laptop and it was not partitioned properly so another waste if money.
Company basically doesn't answer the call and shipping time takes ages the quality of business is a big mess
I was able to buy the laptop I needed with no fuss.
However, when I wanted to speak with a technician the phone rang out and switched to your message bank.
The recording said your techie would call me back, but I waited all day and no one returned my call.
Same thing happened the next time I rang, so decided to purchase the laptop anyway, and worry about my issues later
Fortunately the sales person knew what I wanted to ask about and allayed my fears and doubts.
arrived safely and when an issue arose they were easy to contact and resolve the issue. Much appreciated.
I’m leaving this review after a completely unacceptable experience with ACT regarding my Surface Book 2 — both in terms of after‑sales service and the condition of the “refurbished” device they sold me.
I reported a clear hardware fault and was issued an RMA. I paid out of pocket to return the device. ACT received it and sent it straight back on the same day without addressing the issue I logged. Their “inspection notes” were generic and didn’t reference the fan issue at all, which strongly suggests they didn’t even read the fault description.
I repeatedly asked for a return label so they could re‑inspect the device properly. Instead of acknowledging their oversight, communication suddenly stopped for three days — despite previously replying within an hour or two every time. Only after I said I would escalate did they respond, and the tone changed completely.
Rather than addressing their errors or providing the return label I requested, the representative leaned on the “if no fault is found, you will have to pay” line as a pressure tactic. It felt less like customer service and more like an attempt to discourage the customer from pursuing a legitimate issue.
On top of that, the refurbishment process itself was deeply concerning. The device I received did not resemble the “A‑grade” condition advertised:
The laptop arrived dirty, and when I asked for a cleaning kit, I was told “we don’t have cleaning kits,” which does not inspire confidence in their refurbishment standards.
The operating system was not properly installed. The device repeatedly BSOD’d when attempting to boot into Windows, and I had to reinstall the OS myself.
The battery was completely dead on arrival, indicating it wasn’t checked or charged before being boxed up.
A non‑genuine charger was included, and this charger caused significant electrical leakage, making the entire laptop tingly to the touch — a genuine safety hazard.
The device had one major dent and two minor dents, plus general wear and tear — nowhere near A‑grade.
The Surface Book 2 contains two batteries (tablet and keyboard). The tablet battery wear was exactly 20%, and the keyboard battery wear was above 20%. ACT claimed “only the tablet battery matters,” which makes no sense because both components function as a single unit. No reasonable grading system would classify this as A‑grade; it wouldn’t even qualify as B‑.
All of this was compounded by clear procedural failure. ACT did not follow several steps they claim on their own website, including proper inspection, acknowledgement of the logged fault, and maintaining transparent communication. None of the promised process was followed in practice.
In the end, I accepted the faulty item back and lost money on postage, with no resolution and no accountability from ACT. This experience shows a complete lack of care, transparency, professionalism, and adherence to their own procedures.
I’m sharing this so others know what to expect: poor communication, ignored fault details, misleading refurbishment standards, procedural failure, and a refusal to take responsibility.
I'm very happy with my purchase and had an excellent experience with ACT. I bought a laptop from one of their physical stores, and Kaiya and Pravin were incredibly helpful. They provided great customer service and gave me honest recommendations based on what I needed from a laptop. I’ll definitely shop with them again in the future.
I bought a laptop that was a brick when it turned up so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a replacement through them with assurances that it would be thoroughly checked before it was posted and the 2nd laptop was also a brick. Reasonable service with processing the refund
My new think centre is now working fine. I was not happy having to send it back to Australian Computer Traders for repair at almost the cost of the computer. Otherwise I wear that and would recommend them.
We got off to a bad start as the first m/c was a none runner however after returning the first one via parcel post the replacement is working well.
The warehouse staff are awesome, very helpful and professional. Thanks Bennis and Felix.
Fast international shipping. Easy tracking. Good communication. Item as described.
Great after sales service when I had a problem.
ACT is outstanding. By far the best computer sales and more to the point post sales service team in Australian computers.
The products they sell are the very best.
I was very impressed with the quality of my computer. It looked brand new.
The Laptop was very reasonably priced and as with my previous purchases from ACT, really fast delivery. Thank you.
Great prices, huge range of great products, fast and hassle free dispatch and delivery
I purchased a laptop that didn't meet my needs, and easily returned (at no cost) and purchased another one. They were very friendly and helpful, the return process was simple and efficient. The delivery was very fast, the packaging was superb, and my refund was prompt. The actual device is excellent quality and in remarkably pristine condition for a B Grade product. I will ALWAYS purchase my devices here now!
Easy to navigate website, prices reasonable, delivery on time
