Daylight Robbery - Do Not Use

Do not use these plumbers - complete charlatans. They charged me £600 simply to come out and tell me my boiler was broken - which I obviously knew. Then left - didn’t even fix it. Loads of hidden fees and terms and conditions. And they also broke my bathroom tap, so left me £600 down with more problems than I started with. Horrific experience - cannot believe people are allowed to operate and make money so immorally. Use a reputable plumber, which I did the following day.

1 star – £560 for a 20-minute visit

The £79 call-out fee was explained when I booked, but the full cost structure was not. Only once the plumber was on site was I made aware of the £299 hourly/part-hour charge, plus a 20% administration fee and VAT.

At that point, having already incurred the call-out charge, you feel you have very little option but to proceed.

The plumber was here for approximately 20 minutes and the final bill was around £560. Had the full costs been transparent during the initial phone call, I would not have booked.

Wish I had read other reviews before going with these scammers

Wish I had read reviews before going with these scammers.
Response time was fast, but we got fleeced and it was quite traumatic.
The engineer who came out was perfectly fine and civil, and helped us solve the problem. But they exploited our emergency situation to charge a total of £800+ for what was a 15 minute job. When we refused to pay, the customer service rep said the engineer would not leave the property until payment was made.
Do not use under any circumstance!

Do not sign the hourly rate document the plumber provides!!

'!!! Beware of this company !!!
The cheap £49 booking charge is a con.
The engineer does came promptly but will leave again unless you sign a form charging £285 per hour plus 'admin' fees.
Like a fool I signed thinking it was only spend more time and money to get it fixed.
Plumber was on site for exactly an hour.
They texted a bill for £855 stating that the plumber would remain on site until it was paid.
The bill was grossly inaccurate and therefore a con.
I laughed and showed the plumber - who just simply stated that he'd have to remain on site until it was paid!?
I noted they had charged me for 2 hours work and included the £49 call out charge again. I rang the number the plumber gave me to speak to his boss.
The guy on the phone was unsympathetic until he realised I was not going to pay. He then tried to make me pay for £500 plus to get the plumber to leave.
Replied he can stay as long as he likes - but I'm only paying for what I signed for.
Finally after much bluster and trying other verbal pressure tactics I paid £350.
The plumber had not fixed the fault was trying to take carpet up unnecessarily and broke a large metal valve off above my tank with a large spanner. He then had the brass neck to state it wasn't his fault as it was rusty. Both statements were untrue.
In hindsight I should have asked him to leave prior to signing for £285 per hour which they changed to almost £900 for the privilege of a failed visit.

Stay well clear!

Appalling company, ripping people off on an industrial scale

I was completely ripped off by ASAP 24/7 Plumbers earlier this year when they charged me nearly £2,000 to repair a simple leak (the market rate for the type of work I had done was a few hundred pounds). They used intimidation and harassment to force payment from me. I am now pursing them through several legal channels.

I'm utterly appalled that I see there has been dozens of victims since they ripped me off too!

MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF BY THIS BUSINESS:

1. Report them to Trading Standards immediately

2. Take them to Small Claims Court – Section 51 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is your friend. The company is obtaining payment through deception then using intimidation to force payment. But if you were not quoted an estimated or total price prior to work being carried out then No Price Was Agreed!

3. Report them to the Police if you were threatened with violence or intimidation as a means of obtaining payment for a disputed bill. You are not their only victim.

4. Report them to HMRC for not providing a VAT number – it’s an obvious red flag.

Be aware that clauses in their terms and conditions provide for the contractor to remain on site until payment has been forced out of you. If you resist, they will threaten violence, and confiscation and damage to your property if you challenge them. But the law is on your side. Do not let them get away with it. The more of us that go to the Police and consumer rights organisations, the more chance there is of you getting your money back and them facing the justice they deserve!

Please under no circumstances use this company

Please under a circumstances use this company. They have just scammed my elderly venerable parents for over £1500 for an emergency call out that should have cost under £200 (thank you the honest plumbers who confirmed this. They have been reported both financials, through trading standards and the law and should not be allowed to prey on venerable pensioners who after paying the money they left with no fix and without heating over a cold stormy weekend. Despicable.

Do not use!

Do not use! They are crooks! Who force you to pay over charge bills. Keeping the engineer in you house and intimidating you to force you pay.
Our bill was 6 times over what we previously paid and they forced us to pay immediately. We paid over £4000 to unblock a drain. A 20% admin charge on whole bill and materials added at exorbitant cost. DO NOT USE!

Scam: Don’t fall for their tactics

Earlier this month a pipe burst in my flat. Water was pouring out and I couldn't stop it, so I called ASAP 24/7 Plumbers. On the phone I confirmed the call-out fee and the hourly rate, and an engineer arrived within about 20 minutes.

Before he'd touch anything, I was sent their terms by email and told I had to accept them first. With water coming through the flat, I wasn't in any state to read a long document carefully, and I felt I had no real choice. I accepted. Even then, he didn't start straight away.

The price I was given on the phone turned out not to be the price I was charged. Buried in the terms was an admin fee, written only as "0.2 of the total bill (Decimal)". That's a 20% surcharge, but it isn't written as a percentage, and it was never mentioned on the phone. The labour rate was £599 per hour "or part hour", so even a few minutes counts as a full hour. Then VAT goes on top.

The actual repair took about 20 minutes. The invoice was £1,060.99.

Write to them immediately that you dispute charges and that they need to stay away from your premise and that you chose small courts if they want to settle this.

I received one email. Three days after the job, two of their representatives came to my home demanding payment. They were aggressive and tried to force their way in. The police came.

From then on I dealt with them only by email. I set out why I disputed the bill, asked for the call recordings and records they claimed to have, and made it clear that if they believed I owed more, they could take me to the small claims court. In my experience, they didn't want to go down that route and it’s just intimidation. Their price dropped to £750, then £360, and I settled for £300.

If you're in the same situation:

Don't be scared. In my experience, the threats of debt recovery fees, interest and court are there to make you pay quickly. In small claims, they can't make you pay their legal fees.

Keep everything in writing. Don't answer their calls. Reply by email only and save every message.

Tell them early that you're happy for it to go to small claims. That way there's no reason for anyone to come to your home, and it shows you're not going to be pressured.

Ask for their evidence. They say they hold call recordings and records. You have a legal right to copies of recordings and data about you, so ask for them in writing. They are yet to provide these which means they have broken GDPR.

Don't accept their first offers. Look up normal emergency plumbing rates in your area, work out what's fair, offer that in writing, and stick to it.

If anyone comes to your door, don't open it. Call the police if they try to get in.

They are fraudsters

They are fraudsters, never contact them! They attempted to charge me £2000 for an hour's easy job to replace a small pipe. They hide their costs and inflate the costs material. Avoid, avoid, avoid them!

This is a totally unethical scam…

This is a totally unethical scam company. They exploit the fact that their customers are often in desperate sitatuions and so are prone to make bad decisions. Beware of vastly inflated costs (I was quoted £999 per hour for a basic repair). There is also a mysterious "administration fee" with is 20% of the total cost. Their victims shoud consider legal action. Avoid like the plague.

SCAMMERS. MISLEADING PRICES. AVOID!

SCAMMERS. MISLEADING PRICES. AVOID!

Disgusting, dishonest and predatory company. I regret ever contacting them.

I called for an emergency plumbing issue and was initially told the call-out fee was £59. After rejecting their expensive terms, I negotiated what I understood was a fixed price with their representative over the phone and confirmed this by email. The plumber began working, yet I somehow ended up with an outrageous invoice.

Their pricing is misleading, their communication is terrible, and they seem more interested in getting your money than being honest about what you’re agreeing to. I eventually paid under protest because I wasn’t risking my financial health over this company.

To make matters worse, after I raised a formal complaint about their charges, they informed their contractor, who then contacted me unsolicited, verbally abused me and threatened to break into my home and damage my plumbing. I have recordings of his threats.

I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT THE POLICE FOLLOWING A PLUMBING VISIT.

The contractor also operates under H2o Plumbing & Property Services, which I would advise people to avoid.

Please read their reviews before booking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

Hidden admin fees / Rude plumber / £148.80 for a guy to walk around, not find the tap to turn things off and we had to do it ourselves. Obviously we had to pay otherwise we would have an angry person on our doorstep but steer clear at all costs
