Don’t Buy AIG Travel Guard Insurance Until You Read This

AFTER WRITING THE REVIEW BELOW, AIG FINALLY SETTLED THE CLAIM TO MY SATISFACTION SO I CHANGED MY RATING TO A MORE POSITIVE ONE.

I made a big mistake purchasing travel insurance from AIG Travel Guard Insurance and I am writing this post so that you may not make the same mistake.

During my insured trip I had multiple canceled trips on United Airlines (that’s another story) and incurred $4500 in additional expenses in order to get home. I filed a claim for coverage with a AIG Travel Guard Insurance in early April and now, in mid June, there is still no resolution. It is clear to me that AIG has no intention of living up to their contractual obligations and instead is engaging in stalling hoping I will go away without them, having to make good on their insurance obligations. I have received six separate requests for the same piece of information (documentation showing why United canceled the trip). I have sent AIG this information five times, records that prove it, and notes from two customer service people at AIG confirming that they have everything they need. There has been no resolution of this claim and I continue to get emails from them asking for the same piece of information. I have sent them five times. AIG Travel Guard Insurance is not worth the cost of the paper it is written on. Travel these days is tough enough, don’t make the mistake I made by making the travel, even more difficult by buying travel insurance from AIG.

Would give 0 star if possible

Would give 0 stars if possible. Appealing company, inefficient. I took out Apple Care insurance through this company, would advise any other company. They owe me a refund of £109, I was told to wait 10 days but unfortunately due to their error I must now wait a further 10 days. I asked to make a complaint but supervisor too busy due to call volume….. probably more complaints. I intend to get my refund and then cancel… unprofessional, inept, unreliable..,, stay away
Still waiting for my refund, one full calendar month later… would never recommend apple care. Shocking

A real shame.

Following a flight cancelled on the same day for technical reasons, I had to take another flight the next morning, resulting in a delay of over 24 hours in reaching my final destination. I asked AIG to compensate me in accordance with the contract I had taken out. AIG refused, claiming that the cancellation clause does not apply in such cases. The contract only covers cancellation at the customer's request (illness, death of a close relative, etc.).
AIG informs me that I have to make my request directly to the airline for the European delay compensation. In short, insurance that doesn't insure anything... Avoid.

Avoid this company

I submitted all required documentation when our mother was hospitalized just before our trip. This company is a scam. They denied my claim multiple times for lacking information, and other invalid reasons. At a very difficult time, this company is frustrating to work with and unethical.

No words besides: Shameful and Dishonest: AIG as a business

Sadly, I joined so many others in reporting the frustrating experience after buying AIG travel insurance for my mother, who found her trip cut short and ended in hospital for 2 weeks, prior to reaching her final destination. All the requested documents and proof have been submitted. They deny the claim anyway.
AIG is nothing but a shame and a fraud!
Please stay the hell a way from this shameful business, which is AIG...
TOTAL DISGRACE.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, had Apple care insurance and they have declined my claim against theft due to “find my phone”being off when it was stolen. I explained that the Apple Genius Bar turned it off in March when they repaired the screen but failed to tell me that I needed to turn it back on! I had a police report and proof of purchase. It was not my fault the “find my phone” was off and they refused to check or look into the Genius Bar turning it off to prove my claim is eligible.

Avoid at any cost

Absolute rubbish, being insured with them is a total waste of time and money. Despite my connection flight has been delayed for 5 hours and hence all the connection flights been affected, they refused to pay. Am surprised Expedia is suggesting them

Thumbs down for AIG Travel Insurance

Purchased AIG Travel Insurance/ Filed a claim for stolen AirPods Pro that was denied because I didn't file a police report. AirPods went missing from Alvear Hotel in Buenos Aires. Hotel was notified by me and also by my cruise ship personnel. Would not recommend this insurance.

Horrible experience and not a penny paid so far

Despite being fully covered for our holiday AIG has done everything to just completely ignore our claim and hasn't paid us a penny. We sent many documents as the claim was black and white, my wife got diagnosed with cancer and we had to cancel our trip to Japan. Right now we've lost around £5200, and we paid AIG £550 for cover including cancellation cover. Was booked through Expedia and they are just as bad. Shocking companies and will be persuing the matter legally if it remains unresolved.

Hard to keep up with the everchanging…

Hard to keep up with the everchanging policies AIG keeps enforcing. As soon as you are up to date with everything they need to process a claim, a new policy is required. Its just their way of discouraging customers, who do not have all the time needed, to just drop the claim. Yes, it is indeed a scam!

This is not insurance

This is not insurance. AIG Travel Guard is a scam. They out source their positions and the employees have scripted statements. We have legitimate claim and they say the same thing for the last three months. We are overload with claims and your adjusted will get back to you. They never do.

They don't know what they are doing!

I elderly mother in law has life insurance with them, and she has to call every month. No one knows what they are doing. Two years ago, they stopped the automatic deductions. They say they can't do that anymore....something because of her age. When she calls, she gets transferred several times before she gets to the 'right' person. They have told her to fill out a new form to get automatic deductions. We did it three times last year, after they send her the form. She even got a letter in January, saying they would automatically make the deduction on January 4th. But, of course they didn't. She has to call and give them a check number and pay it over the phone, after she finally gets to the 'right' person. When she called on February 7th to make her payment, the lady said it should have deducted automatically, and told her to wait until the 17th and call back if it wasn't deducted. I told her to call today, February 16th. She finally got someone who told her that she saw the request, but they would change the amount in March, so they couldn't make the automatic payment until March. AND, that she has been paying too much each month. OMG. It has been so frustrating trying to get anyone there to make any sense at all. I don't think anyone knows what they are doing.

AIG Apple Care - good luck!!

AIG - Apple Care. Took 4hrs to process a stolen phone claim. Website terrible, people on the end of the phone terrible, couldn't email anyone. AIG kept putting me through to Apple, Apple insisted I speak to AIG. Everyone rude. No one appeared to have considered that you can't pay for stuff online without your phone to get the code for two factor authentication. How could they not have thought of that? Truly awful experience. Never again. AIG I expected to be bad, but Apple? Mind boggling.
