AIG Flight Insurance did not reimburse

I purchased flight insurance for a Spirit Airlines flight through AIG. When I had to unfortunately cancel the flight, AIG would not reimburse for the flight. When I asked to talk to the adjuster, she was so rude and repeatedly talked over me. Now I'm out $400.00 and Spirit is reselling my seat.

AIG refuses to pay valid claim.

I have always bought travel insurance believing that there might be a time when I would need it. AIG have proven that this is a waste of money, the FCA should investigate their poor practices.
My return flights from South Africa were cancelled due to a natural disaster (flooding), that filled hundreds of people and tens of thousands lost their homes - but AIG would not pay any travel insurance claim. They stated that it was simply an airline rescheduling, totally ignoring the reason for the 'rescheduling' being a natural disaster and national emergency.
On top of this, AIG have no support provided for customers in these situations. They are not willing to discuss, assist, or guide a customer to do the right thing. I seriously hope that the FCA looks into their actions, particularly with the new Consumer Duty regulations coming into affect in 2023.
Shame on you AIG.

They don't pay claims! Useless travel insurance!

I've bought travel insurance from them for a short trip. My flight was canceled because of the strike in Italy. This led to more unforeseen expenses from my side - around £500 - for 1 extra hotel night and food.

They denied me compensation, even though it's covered by their policy:
" A3 – Covered Events: d.Strike resulting in cancellation of scheduled Covered Transport services".

What's the point of buying this insurance if the company avoids paying what they suppose to???

Worst travelI insurance

I booked car rental insurance for 4 days and wanted to extend for another 4 days.

After 4 calls and 5 emails, I ended paying 10 times on international phones calls to tell me they can’t extend it.

I had the most bizarre
Questions:
We extend ur car rental if you have to quarantine or you are sick or stuck in the country.

Don’t even book with them. They put you on hold all the time. Their call center is outsourced and they have no idea about their policies

Flight being cancelled due to bird strike not covered.

My Just Travel insurance claim has been processed by AIG who deny my claim citing I was not covered because my flight was cancelled. My flight was cancelled after the plane had to return to the airport having been damaged by a bird strike, which required a full turnout of the fire services at the airport.
Three enquiries not dealt with within the 5 working days promised, and poor customer service.

Experts at avoiding claims

So far i've had about 4 insurance claims over the 3 years I've been a member, and so far I've had 0 of these claims resolved in any payouts. Every single claim will have some sort of clausul that prevents helping the customer.

No other insurance company has ever behaved this way. Only reason I am still a member is because of my job, but I think it's time to try and convince my current employer to let me get my own insurance company as AIG is utterly useless.

Mis-sold my car-hire insurance

Mis-sold my car-hire insurance. The insurance is only valid to US citizens, which I made clear on my booking through Orbitz that I am not. They also started the insurance on the day I made the booking, not for when my car lease was scheduled to start. They have then used that as an excuse to not engage with me as apparently I am past the 15-day period to "examine guideline of the policy". The whole experience has been me being misled, crucial information made difficult to find, and being completely blocked by their customer service. I had to purchase new insurance when collecting my car as the one AIG sold me was totally useless

Not acting effectively and worst claim response

Travel insurance took ages to act in the US after the first visit to the doctor.
They advised to do it by myself if required/urgent and then make it a claim - which I did not do as I did not trust it to be refunded.
Effectively, I made a claim of a few items the doctor included in his report - more than 2 months later they have not responded...

Absolutely horrific website

Absolutely horrific website. Don't even TRY to log in to the customer portal. Takes over a minute just to load. And if someone has hacked your account, well you better hope it doesn't happen on the weekends, because they are closed. Yes, the entire security department has NO ONE THERE. Seriously! Whoever is running tech should be escorted out the door.

None Fiduciary Advice to Their Clients

If you think you can protect your trip cost from the most common reason trips are cancelled (Airlines selling one leg of your trip to highest bidders and only refunding you for that leg as and leaving you with the cost of the others) then you are mistaken. Need the fine print before buying the coverage. Get refundable tickets instead as AIG after advising me to cancel the other legs so they can start working on the claim, they denied the refund. The list of reasons they are willing to issue a refund mount to absolute unlikely low probability disasters, such as war in the target country, death of a traveler, etc. By refundable tickets. Used them for 20 years and never filed a claim until this incidence! The money I would have saved but not buying their coverage would have offset twice my losses. Would not use them again.

AIG is a scam

AIG is a scam. The event I was travelling to was cancelled due to rising covid rates in the area and they told me it didn't matter because covid was declared a pandemic in 2020 so anything covid-related after that didn't qualify.

Not worth it

Not worth it. We had a friend pass away 2 days before our trip and had to cancel. Sorry, she wasn't traveling with you, you're not covered. Pay for fully refundable tickets and forget about "insurance", especially from AIG.

Long awaited refund

date of hospitalization 2/13/22
date cancelled 2/18/22
original departure date 2/23/22

My Brother in-law has been fighting Cancer for about 10 years. He put together a trip to "celebrate
life" for the family. We were planning on going to Curacao. However, a few days before our trip he was hospitalized and we had to cancel the trip. He was just released from the hospital on 4/22/22 from being admitted in February only to be readmitted
the next day. I didn't think that it would be that much of an issue to cancel my trip being that I purchased trip insurance for my flights which were about $1365 for my husband and I. Due to me purchasing the basic economy flight I was not able to get a
refund or credit through the actual airline. I submitted the required paperwork to AIG before the end of February and I'm still waiting for my refund. They didn't even get back to after completing my original paper until 4/11/22 almost 2 months later,
asking me to send additional paperwork as well as information that I originally sent to them in February. We have been through a lot and all I want is my what I paid for my tickets to be refunded back to me. Please help!

Worst customer service on the planet

Worst customer service on the planet. They specialize in giving you the run-around. The higher up you go in the "customer service chain", the nastier and more callous they are. I truly had no idea they were such a poorly run company. Once I get my current issue resolved with them (IF I EVER DO) I hope I never have to do business with them again. Truly despicable people.
