A very good car, price and friendly staff @Tirana Abbycar

I received a good car and got a shuttle bus from the airport to the office. The person at the meeting point was waiting for us and was very friendly, but they gave other people the first bus/taxi even though we arrived earlier. The bus driver was very friendly and gave advice on where to get local food and other things. We received a good car as booked. Only one red light was on the dashboard, which was something to ignore. I didn’t have any issues, but it still wasn’t perfect. I booked full-to-full fuel but received 5/8, which was difficult to return, so I returned it with more (6/8) fuel. They should improve this point. Returning the car was quite fast, and I needed to show some pictures of scratches when I received the car. It worked out fine, and I washed the car before returning it. The return was signed off by the car rental employee, and I got the deposit for the car back within 24 hours. The bus driver who brought us back drove a little rough, but we returned on time. My advice is positive due to the nice car (also good air conditioning), professional employees, and good price. And take enough pictures of the car at pickup. Enjoy then your drive!

A scheme

A scheme.
First they wanted to charge me for the additional driver that I had already hired on the website, then they said that my credit cards didn't work in the payment machine. We tried it with my wife's credit card and it worked. The account is the same and the credit card is the same. The employee when making the payment said that the machine was making an error. After a long time and almost losing patience, he charged me another 200 euros and let us pick up the car with a lower deposit and on my wife's card, who was the additional driver.
Avoid these schemes, Morocco is a beautiful country and does not deserve these schemes. They lead people to go for the cheapest option and in the end it becomes much more expensive.

Awful support

Awful support, I didn't realise these guys are brokers for local hire companies. I had an issue with the actual hire car company payment terms, and I asked Abbycar for support as I booked through them.
Basically told it was my problem and nothing to do with them.

WILL NOT USE ABBYCAR EVER AGAIN!

Rented car was in good condition and…

Rented car was in good condition and had no faults or issues during the hire, but be wary of their late fees, if your plane is late and the staff need to stay behind they will charge you for this. Also, try to charge you a fee in advance if the car breaks down to be collected and it's only if the garage deems a mechanical fault and not done by the driver but it's a lot of money upfront to prove this.

SCAMMERS
I will relate the situation in case, anyone is in the same condition be aware that this might happen:
- First of all the cars are BROKEN, dirty, with defective engine parts. Very suspicious in the beginning, as the employee immediately asked us if we made insurance of the rented car.
1st - They give you a very miserable and broken car, in order to have the excuse to give you a replacement car by going to your hotel, thus knowing the location of your hotel.
2nd - On the last night before our departure (be mindful, we got up at 03AM), on outside carpark of the hotel, suddenly the car appeared with some dents.
3rd - Then the reviewing allocator upon arrival immediately directed himself to the place where the damage was made (all too suspicious) and then they got your deposit money, even if you had not made insurance(which was our case).
As people mentioned previously the same complains seem to be happening and judicial efforts will be in place
P.S: This allocator ABBYCAR change the name to KA RENTALS.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service , not help , just said to us we sorted problem with the car , and can send someone to check the car in next 24 hours so we need sleep in car .

Fraud at car rental company Vettura / Abby Car in Olbia

We booked a rental car for our tour of Sardinia through the agency "DoYouItaly", and the cheapest offer was with the car rental company Vettura / Abby Car in Olbia (address: Via dei Panettieri 9, Olbia).
After we had to wait over 1.5 hours at the ferry port to be picked up by the rental company, the employee was very friendly at first. She looked at our documents and advised us to take out car insurance from her car rental company. The third party insurance we had booked with DoYouItaly was not very good according to her. We decided against it because we had already booked fully comprehensive insurance (also via "DoYouItaly").
By then she was no longer very friendly. When she showed us the car, she noted the many scratches on the hood in the handover report and told us to take another close look at the car.
That's exactly what we did - we took photos of every side of the car and we even made a video with a tour around the car. When we returned the car, we were sure that everything would go very quickly as we hadn't caused any damage. Every time we parked and unparked, someone from our tour group got out if it was narrow or the curb was quite high. As I said - we did NOT cause any damage to the car. Not a single scratch
When we returned the car same employee from Vettura / Abby Car was back at the car rental office in Olbia, walked purposefully to the front bumper, ran her hand under the bumper and accused us of having caused several scratches on the underside of the bumper (underbody).
We denied this, but the woman wasn't interested at all and said we had to wait for management (where she knew fully well that we had no time for this) or this will be determined in our absence. They held the entire Euro 1,500 deposit for several days and then took Euros 460, which they determined was the cost to repair the damage.
We are sure that this is a scam by this car rental company to collect additional money from the insurance companies.
Our insurance company (Riverside Insurance Agency Malta Limited / Orchard Administration) has settled the claim in the amount of Euros 460. Nevertheless, the customer has the hassle of settling the claim and it is a disgrace to deal with customers in this way. It is also clear insurance fraud. We didn't end up paying for the of costs, but we were very annoyed, felt cheated and had to submit the claim to the insurance company. This experience also left us with a bitter aftertaste when we think of the beautiful island of Sardinia.
Nothing like this has ever happened to us with well-known car rental companies such as Europcar, Budget or Avis.
Even if they are perhaps a little more expensive, we will definitely book our next rental car there.

Avoid - Sharp Practices

Booked a car in Jan 24 for Aug 24 in Rhodes, Greece. T&Cs said pay at the desk. In July, a scam-looking email popped up, demanding full payment upfront with 48hrs deadline. They claimed their T&Cs had changed and now wanted paying. Being buyer beware (have never used them before) I questioned this. Mid-conversation, they just cancelled the booking before the deadline. Looking at the rates now, I think they're just profiteering to earn another €200. Reading reviews here, think I'm lucky to avoid using them and would advise you to shop around.

WARNING ! THEY ARE SCAMMERS

WARNING !Stay far, far away from Abby Cars Corfu Airport. They are outright scammers and thieves. From the moment I arrived to pick up my car, I was subjected to their deceitful practices. They demanded a 700 euro deposit, refusing my attempt to pay with a credit card on my mobile. They insisted it had to be a physical card and the exact card I used to book the car. This absurd requirement was clearly a setup to trap customers.
Without my card, I offered to pay in cash, but they coldly refused. The young owner lied, claiming it was all in the contract—one I never received because I booked through Opodo.com. Cornered and with no way out, I was forced into taking their outrageously overpriced full insurance, costing more than the car rental itself. Then, they extorted an additional 100 euros as a deposit for petrol and keys.
The car they handed over was a piece of junk. The clutch was nearly dead, and the doors and boot wouldn't open with the key. After one miserable day, I demanded a replacement. Every car they offered was ancient and riddled with issues. It's clear they have no intention of providing roadworthy vehicles.
In the end, what should have cost £325 ballooned to £766 because of their despicable scam. Abby Cars Corfu Airport is a criminal enterprise preying on unsuspecting customers. Save yourself the trouble, frustration, and financial loss. Do not, under any circumstances, rent a car from these crooks. They are a blight on the car rental industry and should be shut down immediately. Avoid them like the plague

Fraud rentals

Warning to never rent a car from them. We luckily had additional insurance bought from an independent agency and covered for the irrational claims from Abbycar.
Additionally, rude staff that cannot speak english or greek. Careless driving from/to the airport. Delayed pick up. Car we were given had an amber light on too.
Don't ruin your holidays, stir clear from these charlatans.

Warning to anyone considering renting a car from this company!

I cannot emphasize enough how terrible our experience was with Abbycar. We rented a car and handled it with the utmost care. At the end of our rental period, we even decided to take the car to a car wash to return it clean and tidy.

At the car wash, the car was dried with a towel, which resulted in two tiny, barely visible scratches on the back of the car. To our shock, we were billed a staggering €220 for these two tiny scratches!

It is truly outrageous that Abbycar would dare to charge such an amount for damage that is barely noticeable. This feels like pure extortion and a way to make extra money at the expense of their customers. We felt cheated and extremely disappointed in their customer service and integrity.

I strongly advise everyone against renting a car from this company. Save yourself the frustration, unexpected costs, and disappointment. Find a reliable and honest car rental company that does not exploit its customers with absurd damage claims.

We will never come back and hope this review can warn others to avoid the same terrible experience.

Great experience, no surprises if you actually read the terms

I must admit, reading many of the reviews made me very worried. However I was compelled to return here and write a review as I had a very pleasant experience with the AbbyCar team in Tirana, Albania. Many of the reviews are correct in that they will charge you for going across borders, driving off road, etc., HOWEVER these limitations are all clearly listed on the voucher agreement, and the team I worked were VERY explicit about any additional charges and restrictions and took time to explain everything clearly. It seems to me that many reviewers here were caught out by not properly reading the terms of their rental agreement, which I understand can be frustrating, or perhaps their experiences took place in other locations besides Tirana in which case of course my review is only applicable for their Tirana branch and I cannot comment on other locations.

Apart from this, the team offered to pick me and my partner up from the center of Tirana via a personal shuttle, and also dropped us back off after we returned the car. The staff were absolutely lovely-- very friendly and talkative, wanting to share their knowledge of Albania with us and make recommendations for our travels.

I was charged a fee for a scrape on the underside of the front bumper as the roads in Albania can be quite bad in some places, but we had sorted insurance through a separate vendor ahead of time which meant the team were able to give us all the information we needed in order to submit a claim and were very helpful in doing so.

Docking one star as the pickup location is not the most convenient (but again, does offer a shuttle) and they also chare a small cleaning fee (approx 10 EUR) if you don't have time to have the car washed beforehand, but again this was explained to us at the outset.

extremely rude and unhelpful staff

when I returned the car. they informed me it would take up to 2 weeks for the £1000 block (deposit) to be removed.

I was not told about this prior at all. when I questioned the staff they were very rude and became aggressive.

I asked to speak with the manager. she refused to enter the building. instead she stood at the doorway of the building and continued to smoke. she was also very rude and interrupted me eveytime I spoke.

I had a very disappointing experience

I had a very disappointing experience with Abby Car Rental. I booked a car through American Express Travel, paying a €100 deposit. Upon arrival, they refused to accept my American Express card for the remaining balance. Instead, they demanded an additional €300 for full insurance.
When I decided to pay for the full insurance to salvage the situation, they wouldn't accept my Visa debit card either. I understand that I should have read the fine print, but other rental companies would have refunded me.
Instead, Abby Car Rental kept my money and were incredibly rude throughout the entire process. I strongly advise against using Abby Car Rental.
Feel free to adjust any part of the review to better reflect your experience.

Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience with these people. We booked a Fiesta size car through Expedia for our holiday in Rhodes - but were told by Abbycar they'd reserved a Nissan Micra for us. We had taken out additional insurance through Expedia - Abbycar told us this was worthless and that we should take out a second insurance policy with Abbycar.

The booking was for both me and my wife - when we went to pay the deposit using my wife's credit card, Abbycar said the card would need to be in my name, even though we're married and share the same surname. After heated discussion they said they would do us a favour and take the card, provided we paid an admin fee and agreed to take a further insurance policy out with them, which would have meant we had two insurance policies for the same booking.

This was blackmail and we decided to walk away, leaving us without a hire car for the holiday. We'd paid for the car in advance so were out of pocket but didn't trust this company. Anyone considering hiring a car in Rhodes - our recommendation is do not go near this company.
