Great Improvement.

I honestly have to say, I read the reviews AFTER booking the car. I had booked with easyJet so I don't know if that plays any part, but I rented a car from Abbycar Rhodes April 2026 and I have to say I was not happy with my service, I was impressed. I had taken the cheapest option, since that was my budget, they gave me a great car which I would even consider an upgrade, they were very direct efficient and friendly, we got picked up from the airport on the first day, dropped off on the last, very flexible and still very straightforward. Did not try to get hassled upon return, and got my deposit back after 4 days, which is quicker than usual. They did everything a car rental company should do. Great job, keep up the good work.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with AbbyCar.

I rented a vehicle via Check24. The car provided did not have a valid MOT (KTEO), which resulted in a police stop and a fine of EUR 200.

I informed AbbyCar immediately and provided all documents. However, no corrective action was taken. The police clearly stated that the fine could have been reduced if the inspection had been carried out within the deadline – which AbbyCar failed to do.

As a result, I had to pay the full amount. AbbyCar has refused reimbursement.

This is unacceptable, as customers must be able to rely on receiving a legally compliant vehicle.

I strongly advise others to be cautious.

Avoid - Rude, unprofessional and unreasonable staff

Reading these reviews, I am grateful I didn't go ahead with Abby Cars.

I have just been at their offices to pick up a car and the uncaring behaviour and lack of empathy of their staff led me to be believe I was walking into a trap and the alarm bells definitely went off. Hidden fees, declaring that your purchased insurance was insufficient and long price list for damages definitely were signs that I would have been cooked upon returning the car. Lucky me that I didn't go ahead and then saw all these negative reviews! They paint the real picture.

Pheww! Thanks for sharing all. You saved a life! So relieved.

traveling with a baby

If you’re traveling with a baby… you know the stress 😅

First trip with a 6-month-old baby, with suitcases, a stroller, and everything else you can imagine. Stressful enough already, but my biggest concern was driving — first time on foreign roads, and in Athens of all places.

And of course, the classic worry: the car. Would it be comfortable? Would it have GPS? Would I be able to handle so many hours of driving without getting even more stressed?

In the end, Abby Car made everything so much easier! Honestly, all my stress disappeared. Immediate service, very kind staff, and everything was done super fast — within minutes I had the car and was on my way without any delays.

And the best part? I drove from Athens to Mesolongi (which, due to delays, took almost 6 hours 😅) and felt like I was sitting on my couch.

No exaggeration, it was one of the easiest and most comfortable travel experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!

Don’t book with them

Don’t book with them. They’re not very easy to locate at the airport and they don’t even bother helping when you contact them. They charge a high amount for deposit and return it after a long time. They gave me a car with half tank fuel and when I returned it with full tank, they said they’d refund me but ignored my messages after. I wish I’d read the reviews here before booking.

ICED OUT CUBIC ZIRCONIA EDITION

Scammers! The gordo illegal with the fake glass earrings from didn’t have my car so he made up an excuse about an extra deposit. We offered him 4 different cards, cash deposit and the car was already paid for on Amex through Expedia. He didn’t have the car, so the lying scum bag dry foot put my wife and I with our two kids out in the rain today. SCUMBAG!!

I am mailing with the support team since august 2025. They have taken the deposit in stead of refunding it. In total 1000 euro. They promised to return in October and since then no reply.

Booking cars for a convoy tour

We took a total of 7 cars for a convoy tour in Jordan, very very happy with the kind of support & service given. We got it a very competitive rate. The condition of cars wears very good and we got a full insurance cover as well.
Was a great overall experience and our tour of 8 days went very smooth .

Excellent Service Thanks to Semir – Smooth & Stress-Free Experience

From the first second when I went in the office in AbbyCar in Bosnia, Semir the agent who was there, was one of the best human and a great seller also. He helped us with everything! He helped us with the car what to do where to go in Bosnia, what to be careful of, and all that we needed to know. When we return the car, there was a small bump on the right back door which me and my friend never saw. But Semir was so helpful and he made the whole experience super easy with the insurance company which I booked and from the DiscoverCars. So, because of Semir, the experience with AbbyCar was super good with 0 problems!

Kaution nach drei Monaten weiterhin nicht erstattet!

„Mietwagen im Oktober auf Kreta gebucht, 500 € Kaution hinterlegt. Fahrzeug wegen Straßensperrung wie angewiesen an der Flughafenstation abgestellt, Schlüssel eingeworfen. Rückzahlung der Kaution wurde für wenige Tage später zugesichert.

Im November bestätigte ABBYCAR nach Reklamation, dass es ein internes Problem gab und die Kaution überwiesen wird. Im Dezember hieß es, mehrere Kunden seien betroffen und es dauere noch. Im Januar erneut nachgehakt, seitdem keinerlei Rückmeldung und bis heute keine Rückzahlung.

Monatelange Verzögerung trotz mehrfacher Zusagen. Extrem schlechter Kundenservice, nicht vertrauenswürdig und wirkt höchst unseriös.“

“Car rental booked in October in Crete, €500 deposit paid. Due to a road closure, I was instructed to return the car at the airport station and leave the key in the drop box. I was assured the deposit would be refunded within a few days.

After no refund, ABBYCAR confirmed in November after my complaint that there was an internal issue and the deposit would be transferred. In December I was told that several customers were affected and it would take a bit longer. I followed up again in January and since then received no response and no refund.

Months of delay despite repeated promises. Extremely poor customer service, not trustworthy and highly unprofessional.”

Taxi bookings.

I have booked a taxi from this company for the last three night. It was easy to book a taxi, and the taxi arrived quickly. The drivers were helpful, and the fare was of a reasonable price. Will definitely use again.

DODGY, AVOID AT ALL COST

After over a year now (May 2024) I remembered to write a review for this company but all previous reviews speak for themselved. This is a very dodgy company I would recommend avoiding at all cost even if you try to save yourself some extra money on car hire.

To cut a long story short, we received a very old car which probably shouldn't be on the road. On the last night of our stay our mirror was destroyed even though we parked on a wide street in a super quiet area. This is thanks to the fact I shared our accommodation address. I obviously had no way of proving who it was who damaged our car but I'm pretty sure it was not an accident but a deliberate act of vandalism.

We had insurance which covered the cost of this damage but it hurt me that these dodgy guys fixed their car with my money.

This company should be closed down.

Dodgy dodgy dodgy

Dodgy dodgy dodgy, avoid.
We could tell when we picked up the rental car, this was company were dodgy. And sure enough when we returned it, the person checking over the car, went straight to the underside of the bumper and tried her best to claim a scratch was on us, and we would lose our covering deposit of £2k. She had two men with her while she did this. Very very suss behaviour.

Avoid this company at all costs!!!

Absolutely disgusted with this company and we cant beleieve easy jet even reccomend booking with this company!

We got a flat tyre and after going to put the spare on we soon discovered was flat also....which meant me and my friend were 2 stranded females very late at night.

We called easyjet who made multiple attempts to contact abbycar along with all of the attempts we made and no answer and no recovery options, we left a voicemail and emailed and nothing (not even the next day did they contact us back) even more disappointing we were told by easy jet they didn't even know what to do and we were promised multiple times to be called back that evening...but no call back...we were left to figure it out for ourselves

We ended up having to walk miles late at night to find help, then even the next day tried to contact abbycar with no luck again and had to drive 160km on the spare to the airport which is pretty dangerous.

Even when we dropped the car off to the other airport in Crete the lady was very unhelpful and didnt really seem to care!

Absolute Disgrace! AVOID AT ALL COST!!

Absolute Disgrace!! Booked with this company & did not receive voucher. On arrival they were closed & all you get is a answerphone message. Took the money & left us stranded. Contacted Jane in customer service who would not help! Be aware of this scam!!

Chasing up our deposit to be paid back

We dropped the rental car on the 23/09/25
We are yet to receive our 150€ deposit back and it has been over 15 business

0 Stars - Abbeycar Thessaloniki: Unsafe Cars and Disgraceful Service

Easily the worst and most dangerous car hire experience we’ve ever had.

We arrived to collect our rental and immediately noticed engine management and oil warning lights lit up on the dashboard. When we took the car straight back, the desk agent admitted she already knew about the problem and gave a series of excuses — “just a bulb,” “a sensor,” “the catalytic converter.” Not once did she confirm the vehicle was safe, nor offer any paperwork or explanation. She tried to push us to take it even despite us explaining it wasn’t safe or legal to drive a car like that.

She then checked two more cars, both with the same faults, and told us “all cars have this problem.” She said that they did not have any cars without warning lights. The attitude was appalling — rude, dismissive and completely unconcerned about customer safety. When we refused to drive a clearly unroadworthy car and it would result in bad reviews, she shouted at us, “Are you serious right now?”

Abbycar left us stranded, forcing us to pay for a last-minute €350 hire with Europcar up the road plus taxi costs to get there. Thankfully, Discover Cars (who we originally booked through) were contacted after and secured a full refund and reimbursement, but Abbycar themselves have shown zero integrity, zero accountability and zero concern for safety.

Abbycar is knowingly renting out unsafe vehicles and gaslighting customers who refuse to risk their lives driving them. This company should not be allowed to operate.
Avoid them at all costs.
