Disappointing software and even worse refund policy

Disappointing software and even worse refund policy
Review:
I purchased Tenorshare 4DDiG to recover critical photos from a USB drive. Unfortunately, the software failed completely—while it "found" files, none of them could actually be opened after recovery.
When I contacted support within 24 hours of purchase, they admitted their technical team found the data "completely corrupted" and non-recoverable by their tool. Despite their product failing to perform its primary function, they refused a full refund. Instead, they offered a measly 30% refund or an "exchange" for other software I don't need.
Selling a recovery tool that doesn't work and then keeping 70% of the customer's money is unacceptable. If the tool can’t recover the data, a full refund should be standard, especially when requested immediately. Buyer beware.

Good Software With Hidden Ripoff

The software 4DDiG worked exactly as advertised and was very helpful. HOWEVER - beware of aggressive trial subscription tactics that could leave you paying for software you neither requested nor needed. Their response to my complaint offered zero appropriate resolution. Buyer Beware!

Unacceptable! Software failed to repair my video and they refused to refund.

I purchased Tenorshare 4DDiG (Ticket: 23092813) specifically to repair a corrupted Insta360 video. The software failed completely, and the output file remained unplayable.

Despite providing clear screenshots of the error, their support team (Annie) refused my refund request, claiming they "haven't located the issue yet" and tried to force me to exchange for other useless software.

Their "30-Day Money Back Guarantee" is a total trap. According to their own policy, a refund should be granted if a technical issue cannot be resolved. They are clearly violating their own terms.

Warning to all users: Do not buy from this company. They will take your money and refuse to honor their refund policy even when their product doesn't work.

Manipulative pricing approach

Manipulative pricing approach - I saw this app recommended (by a third party website) as 'free' then downloaded it; it allows you to scan and preview (though preview was 'not available' for the file I wanted), then asks for a pricey monthly subscription to recover even one file. Only when I uninstalled it did it start offering a one-week subscription and discounts. I continued uninstalling as I really detest the kind of reactive pricing that changes the price depending on how gullible / naiive the customer is.

Edit in response to the reply: the pricing did not cause confusion, I think it is misleading and manipulative to offer one price upfront and then another if the customer looks set to leave. The kind of pricing that rewards savvy tech-confident customers who are used to this kind of thing and likely to have a disproportionate effect on those less able to play the game.

Dear Ziki,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.

On behalf of Tenorshare 4DDiG, we would like to clarify that the free version of our software is designed to allow users to scan and preview recoverable files, so they can evaluate whether the data can be recovered before deciding to purchase. The actual recovery feature requires a license, which is clearly stated on our product page.

Regarding the subscription and promotional offers you mentioned, occasional discounts or short-term plans may be presented to give users more flexible options, but these offers are not intended to mislead customers. We apologize if the pricing presentation caused any confusion or frustration.

We also appreciate your note about the preview issue. In some cases, certain file types or severely damaged files may not support preview, which can affect the recovery evaluation. Our technical team continues working to improve compatibility and performance.

If you are still interested in recovering your files or would like us to review the specific file you mentioned, please feel free to contact our support team at support@4ddig.com with more details. We would be happy to assist you further.

the worst data recovery software ever! Do NOT use!

This is the worst data recovery software I have ever encountered, BAR NONE! This is ransomware packaged to appear legitimate. The free version will only prove that they can recover your data, but then LOCKS the data so you have to pay to actually recover it. I paid for it on Saturday, to recover data on a 128GB thumb drive and by Monday, 9AM without any interruptions, only 47% progress had been made.

Dear wiseman,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating data recovery can be, especially when you’re under time pressure. We sincerely apologize that our software did not meet your expectations.

We would like to clarify that 4DDiG is not ransomware, nor does it lock user data. The free trial version is designed to allow users to scan and preview recoverable files so they can verify whether their data can be restored before making a purchase. This is a common practice among professional data recovery tools and is meant to prevent unnecessary purchases when recovery is not possible.

Regarding the scanning speed, recovery time can vary significantly depending on the size of the drive, file system condition, level of corruption, and the type of scan selected (quick scan vs. deep scan). A 128GB USB drive, especially if heavily fragmented or damaged, may indeed require extended scanning time. That said, we regret that the progress was slower than you expected and that this caused frustration.

We would truly like to review your case and see if there is anything we can do to help optimize the scan or provide an appropriate solution. Please feel free to contact us at support@4ddig.com with your order number and details of your device, and our technical team will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you for your feedback — it helps us continue improving both our product and our support experience.

Both Data Recovery Software and 4DDiG File Repair are a waste of money

Both Data Recovery Software and 4DDiG File Repair are a waste of money.

Purchased the recovery software, ran the system for 2-3 days and all files recovered are all distorted and not even able to be repaied by 4DDiG File Repair.

Even re-ran both softwares on different folders and files. None can be recovered and still all un-repairable.

Huge disappointment and waste of money and time!

Dear ZC,

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and truly understand how disappointing it is when recovered files cannot be used as expected. Please accept our sincere apologies for the frustration and time this has caused you.

When files appear distorted or cannot be repaired, it usually indicates that the original data was severely overwritten or damaged before recovery, which unfortunately limits what any software can restore. Even so, we fully understand your expectation that the files should be usable after such a long scan and effort.

We would like to review your case more closely and see whether any additional recovery methods or settings may help improve the results. If the recovery is confirmed to be unsuccessful, we are also happy to reassess your case in line with our refund policy.

Please contact us at support@4ddig.com with your order number and, if possible, screenshots or sample file information, and our technical team will prioritize your request.

4DDiG File Repair is a waste of money.

4DDiG File Repair is a waste of money.
I purchased this software under order ID TID22958244, but it failed to repair a single one of my uploaded photos. I contacted customer support, but the experience was very disappointing. The support team was unprofessional and disorganized, repeatedly asking for the same information even though I had already provided all the required details to help them improve the software in future updates.

Since the software was completely unusable for me, I requested a refund, but they refused. Overall, very poor performance and even worse customer support. I do not recommend this product

Solid data recovery tool for basic needs

The software is well organized and easy to use, even for users without technical experience. The scan can take some time, but it is fairly thorough and allows you to preview recoverable files, which is helpful before deciding how to proceed. In my tests, it was able to detect several deleted or inaccessible files. It doesn’t solve every recovery scenario, but it works reliably for common data recovery situations.

DO NOT BUY TENORSHARE SOFTWARE

I purchased Tenorshare 4DDiG Boot Genius in an attempt to repair my Windows 11 PC which had intermittent booting problems.

To buy the Boot Genius program I had to agree to also take out an annual subscription to some other program (PDNob for Windows) which I did not want or need. I had to then cancel that annual subscription to ensure that no subscription payments were taken. To be fair, the cancellation worked, but forcing bundled subscriptions into a one-off purchase is no way to treat customers.

Installation was more difficult than it need have been. I selected English as my chosen language, but the program assumed, incorrectly, that I must have a US layout keyboard. That made it difficult to enter my email address as part of the registration process. I guessed correctly that it was a US/UK keyboard issue and found the key to which the @ symbol maps on a US keyboard.

Boot Genius could find no boot errors to repair. The log files produced by the program confirmed this. So, I asked for a refund, but Tenorshare insisted that I send the log files to them. The email from them explaining how to do so was so muddled that I could not figure out what they were asking. A second set of instructions from them was clearer. They guided me to find the location of the log files but all of the Explorer windows were in Chinese, not in English. In addition, because I had booted into Boot Genius from a USB stick, the Windows drive letters were not assigned as they would have been when booting Windows directly on my PC. Explorer windows in Chinese and muddled drive letters made the task "interesting". I did eventually locate the log files and copy them to a USB stick before sending them to Tenorshare. They agreed that Boot Genius had found no boot errors so I requested a refund in line with their terms and conditions.

They initially ignored my refund request and said that they could transfer the Boot Genius licence to some other program that they sell. I had to refuse their "kind" offer twice before they agreed to a refund, which I have now received.

The icing on the cake is that I later found two copies of Boot Genius on my "scratch" drive and have no idea how they ended up there.

I have since found an interesting account online that describes the program as exhibiting "Malicious activity" I cannot provide a link in this review, but search for tenorshare-4ddig-for-windows.exe on the any.run web site. It's probably easiest to perform a search via your favourite search engine.

The accounts of how the program pries into your computer are are truly shocking.

Reply from Tenorshare 4DDiG

Dear Raymond,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We sincerely regret that your experience with 4DDiG Boot Genius did not meet your expectations and that the overall process caused you frustration.

Regarding the bundled offer shown during purchase, your feedback is well noted. While optional products may be displayed as part of promotional campaigns, we understand your concern and agree that clarity and choice are extremely important. We appreciate your acknowledgment that the unwanted subscription was successfully canceled, and we will continue working to improve transparency in our checkout experience.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused during installation, including the keyboard layout and language display issues when booting from a USB environment. Since Boot Genius runs in a pre-boot recovery environment rather than standard Windows, certain system elements (such as language display and drive letter assignment) may differ from a normal Windows session. That said, we agree this could have been communicated more clearly, and we’re sorry for the confusion it caused.

With regard to the refund process, our support team requests log files only to confirm the diagnostic result and ensure the request meets the refund policy conditions. We regret that our initial instructions were unclear and that you had to spend extra time locating the files. We also apologize if our alternative solution proposal came across as persistent rather than optional. Ultimately, your refund was processed in accordance with our policy, which we’re glad was resolved to completion.

Concerning the additional program files you later noticed, Boot Genius may temporarily extract or cache files during recovery operations. These files are not malicious and do not operate once the program is no longer in use. We would be happy to help clarify or guide you through safe removal if needed.

Finally, regarding online claims of malicious behavior: we would like to clarify that 4DDiG and Tenorshare software is digitally signed, regularly updated, and complies with standard security practices. Our programs do not perform hidden or unauthorized actions. We take such concerns seriously and continuously monitor and improve our products to ensure user safety.

We truly appreciate your detailed feedback, as it helps us identify areas for improvement in both our software and customer communication. Should you wish to discuss any of these points further, our support team remains available at support@4ddig.com

Kind regards,

I bought 4DDiG Partition Manager to…

I bought 4DDiG Partition Manager to clone the OS from one drive to another. The cloning seemed successful, but Windows still wouldn't boot from the new drive. It only showed a black screen with a cursor. According to forums, this is because the software can't handle EFI volumes.

My attempt to get a refund failed. Communication with support was incredibly strange. The same weird questions and advice kept repeating. When I suggested I couldn't log into Windows, they responded, "Right-click on our program icon and look at the version number." And so it is everywhere.
It's either a chat bot or just a bot.

I also left a negative review on the official website, but guess what? It never showed up. Surprise surprise :-)

Dear Mikalai,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with 4DDiG Partition Manager did not meet your expectations, and we understand how frustrating it is when a cloned system does not boot as expected.

Regarding the boot issue you described, Windows startup behavior after disk cloning can be affected by several factors, including boot mode (UEFI/Legacy), partition structure, and BIOS/boot order settings. 4DDiG Partition Manager supports UEFI/GPT systems, but in some cases additional configuration may be required after cloning. We regret that this was not clearly explained and that the outcome was not what you needed.

Concerning your interaction with our support team, we sincerely apologize if our responses felt repetitive or unhelpful. Our agents follow diagnostic checklists to understand each situation, but we acknowledge that in your case this led to confusion, especially since the system could not boot. Your feedback highlights an area where we must improve our communication.

With respect to the refund request, log collection and troubleshooting steps are required to verify eligibility under our refund policy. That said, we’re sorry if the process felt unnecessarily difficult or impersonal. This was not our intention.

As for reviews on our website, comments may be subject to moderation filters (for example, duplicates or technical display delays), but we do not intentionally suppress customer feedback. We appreciate you sharing your experience publicly, as it helps us improve.

We would still like the opportunity to review your case properly. If you’re willing, please contact us at support@4ddig.com

4DDIG is a scam for Tenorshare to steal your money.

Bought 4DDIG to use once to clone disk. Tenorshare signed me up for a lifelong subscription and started deducted monthly subscription fees from my credit card. Got no action when I told them to cancel everything. Only solution was to cancel my credit card and get a new one.
