BLEEDING THE NHS DRY
Asked to pay for replacement transmitter even though it was lost due to a fault with the Guardian 4 sensors. Th sensor is an absolute NIGHTMARE to use. There are many other closed loop diabetes management systems around now and I would seriously consider the alternatives.
Medtronic would not provide me with a transmitter free of charge. It had to be ordered via my health care provider, who would have to foot the bill but whom I have not been able to get hold of.
I mean come on Medtronic, you're making a FORTUNE out of the NHS and type 1 diabetics. How much money would you have made from my via the hundreds of sensors I would be ordering over my lifetime from you? Yet, you've still got to squeeze a little bit extra for the sensor. It's enough on principle to completely drop Medtronic for one of their competitors.
Medtronic in my opinion are one of the reasons why the NHS is on it's knees. They clearly have only one goal and that is profit, profit and even more profit to squeeze out of the NHS, the sick and the disabled.
On the other hand Abbot Labs' sensors have always been fantastic with incredibly helpful and friendly customer support. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Medtronic.
It is clear to me that their budget is focussed on their sales and marketing team and NOT customer support.
But why not? Why support NHS funded customers, when you've got your claws into them and the only way they can escape you is via their healthcare provider.
is I USED TO HAVE a prescription for Abbot's sensors but switched to Medtronic for the closed loop system, which to be honest is a nightmare.
Companies like this are bleeding the NHS dry and consequently tax payers like me.
To add insult to injury I asked Medtronic's phone rep to be transferred to their complaints dept, so I could make a formal complaint. Was told they didn't have a complaints department. How arrogant can a company get?
NO THANKS MEDTRONIC
