I experienced a system update error that I couldn't recognize on my end. For instance, the value approved was displayed as $4,000, even though it was originally approved for $12,000. I found it diffic... See more

Over the past year and a half, I’ve become increasingly concerned about how Zip handles customers’ personal information.
About two years ago, I changed my phone number and attempted to update it in the app. I was told the number was already associated with another account, even though I’ve only ever had one Zip account.
On one occasion, I accidentally attempted to log in using my phone number, and instead of being denied access, The verification code was sent to me, and after entering it I was taken directly into another customer’s account. I was able to view her full name, home address, and other personal information. That should never happen.
I immediately contacted Zip and was given the runaround before the issue was eventually addressed.
Now, fast forward to today: for some reason, my old phone number can still be used to access my own account. Two weeks ago, I contacted customer support again and was told a manager would email me. As of today, no one has reached out.
Because another customer’s personal information was exposed to me, I intend to make every reasonable effort to ensure they are aware that their privacy may have been compromised. I also intend to consult my attorney regarding what I believe to be a significant breach of customer privacy. This level of carelessness with sensitive personal information is unacceptable. Customers deserve to know that their personal information is being handled carelessly.
I have been trying to get help with an order that keeps getting declined for a week now. I have spoken to reps on chat, email, and the phone. No one can help and the people who are hired by this company to help do not speak good English so there are serious communication barriers on top of them being rude. So, this service is excellent as long as nothing ever goes wrong.

Zip Pay has been great solution for me after I decided to no longer use credit cards. Fees are simple to understand and payment methods are easier than ordering door dash. Love this product for so many reasons.

Great when you are a bit short during the week or for unplanned expenses. No interest is great.

I got a notification saying, "Congratulations, you've earned $100 cashback!" I was stoked, spent the money, and then received an email saying it was a system error and they were taking the $100 back.
Because of their mistake, I now have to somehow come up with an extra $100 I wasn't expecting to owe for a while. It's incredibly frustrating to be told you've earned a reward, only to have it revoked after you've relied on it.
Really poor customer experience. -10/10, I won't be using Zip Pay again.

Been using Zip for a number of years now and never had an issue with accessing money at times needed, the customer service is above and beyond as they actually listen and help if needed be. Have been times where I had a higher limit to use zip over my bank credit card as fees and interest don’t accrue with zip which is great thing! But overall a much better option to use Zip then that other Big buy now pay lAter ComPany.

Uses a third-party site to verify applications, that asks users to login with their own bank or MyGov details, or MyGov on another domain's web page, it even asks for the PIN MyGov sends to be entered on a page on this third-party domains website! The Australian government even warns about doing this so I highly doubt this is even an authorised access method. Access should be done using token API if available, not asking users to enter a username and password for another financial institution on a third-party domain. Has the Australian government even authorised permission for their third-party private company credit checker to do this?
Would not recommend.
I changed my bank password after letting them log in once for verification due to my banks lack of MFA, I would recommend others do the same.
Third party access shouldn't be using login portals, they should be using token passing and an API, like Microsoft and Google do for authentication. Login details should never be passed by a third-party portal, for credit checks or anything, and I have emailed my financial institution to raise the issue.
You obviously don't take security seriously enough or checks wouldn't be done by asking a customer to provide their username and password for their bank on a third-party domain inside that third-party domains website.
You said:
"we use trusted, third-party providers that utilize high-level encryption," - AKA TRUST ME BRO
Your third-party provider is asking details be entered directly onto their own web page on their own domain instead of popping up an authentication directly with a bank, if it's not implemented yet, it needs to be.
I could care less about your products in relation to the actual credit check as I was never going to pay over the 9.95 maintaining fee for Zip Pay as your interest rates on your other products are exorbitant and end up costing people a lot more than they spend, meaning that they are forever repaying the interest in order to try and close the account.
I had a zip money account, I paid it on time, including the exorbitant 25.90% p.a interest, and then "I" locked it as I was paying more interest than the account or your business was worth. I only found out that I was being asked to provide my banking details to a third-party domain instead of that third party domain using token passing and an API when (I went to unlock my Zip Pay account which I previously locked as I didn't need it for a while). which is not a good security practice, customers should never, ever put their banking or government Centrelink details directly into the website of a third-party provider, it should all be done by token passing with an API.
I am enquiring with financial institutions and government about these security practices and will be elevating the issue until more secure practices are followed.
Ps:
I did "reach out" to your support team about this in an email during the credit check, they never replied, which is why I posted this as a review. I was a customer of yours for years and never missed a repayment, have excellent credit and repayment history, that you denied a disability pensioner simply because they have a pension and don't make huge purchases and therefor spend wisely and don't pay huge interest to you as a result is disgraceful. I'm sorry if I wasn't a high enough turn over for you to reinstate my account after I locked it for the period where it wasn't required!
