Millions of computers (and people’s hard-earned money) are thrown out every year, usually due to simple problems that can be easily fixed. Mark couldn’t stand the thought of that and wanted to do something about it. Using his background in technology, Mark set off with his son Adam on a mission to come up with a way to help people get more life out of their outdated or broken computers. What they came up with is Xtra-PC. The team created Xtra-PC as an affordable and effective way to have an extra PC. Xtra-PC transforms old, unsupported PCs and laptops, allowing unused or compromised computers to be used again. We are committed to making old computers useful again and avoiding the unnecessary throwing away of hardware. Our location on the Colorado prairie defines our values of hard work, simplicity, sustainability, and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Followed their instructions - got to the first menu to choose which option; (Xtra-PC or the memory tests, etc), chose "Xtra-PC" and it wouldn't boot. Just a black screen, forever. This is on a 5 year old laptop, in perfect working order. I'm testing this 'product' for a friend who also couldn't get it to boot. They will have to sell a lot of these things to cover the returns and refunds they're going to be giving out when all the 'average users' can't get them to work.

It's pretty obvious after receiving this crap that I am an ignorant dummy. One guy did say he wouldn't trust anything you buy on the internet. I think he's right Anything from now on i buy from the Net will be from companies I KNOW. So in general I'm following his orders and excusing myself from purchasing anything that appears outrageous..So, as of today....I'm done. This will be my LAST LOSS. The idea is nice, But it doesn't work like they say it does...If i can't get it at Walmart, I don't buy it..
So good by you thieving MF's This Thumb drive will hang from my ceiling on a string so as to remind me when I walk by it the day that I had a stupid attack......
I have not bought this product but I know exactly what it is. It's just a FREE OS (A Linux Distribution) on a USB stick. These people are only there to steal some money from old and less-confident computer users. I could easily make the make product for a twentieth of the price at home by going to a Linux website and downloading the OS and putting it on a cheap USB Memory stick. They don't even make the USB sticks themselves. It's just another expensive scam on the Internet. It's a bit like those cheap 2TB USB Sticks on eBay that turn out to only be 512 MB, except it's not cheap.
I feel like a fool. I should have done more research before buying it. I didn't know I can't run Windows programs with Xtra-PC installed. Fortunately, I only bought the cheapest version. The company needs to stop advertising their products without telling people about the downside.
It really does feel bad to be scammed. At my age should have known better. Ads said it works with Macs since 2011.
My Mac had no application to open the device. Was on with the "customer service" person Teresa chat for about 30 minutes, asked me so many questions that I thought she was going to ask for my high school transcript. Hope I get a refund but not holding my breath. It's a cliche but true - if it sounds too good to be true beware.
It's a linux distro and it's already free and open-source. The USB stick isn't even their own company but some other ones like SanDisk (Check LTT's video) and linux is supposed to be free. I could replicate their product by just flashing Ubuntu or any other linux distro to a USB drive and I have what they have. Keep your scams away!
What I would really like to know is the legality of charging for this Linux OS? If it is free already? I figure if you dont know anything about computers and want something better don't waste you time and money on the Xtra-PC. Just get a new PC. They are very affordable nowadays. i like how their new commercial a guy says I found a way to use my computer with no hard drive and holds up a cd drive XD
I would not trust anything sold on internet unless you could pay it with paypal. Paypal always protect the buyer. Recently I purchase 2 TB usb from China. It does not work and had to return it to China before paypal refund the money. In the end paypal even claim the postage for sending the item back from the seller. If the seller does not accept paypal dont buy them.
It's just a linux operating system on a USB stick.

my item eventually arrived today after seeing reviews too late had decided to return immediatly but after attempting to get a RMA# which you require to return item why am I surprised others have had the same problem total scam! has anyone ever been able to return and get their money back.
I need something to fix my old Acer. Saw the advert, looked genuine to begin with, it held my interest, then at the end of the advert clip it had a countdown.....5..4..3..2..1.. to click that before the link was severed. Immediately I realize this isn’t right. No product that good would need to be desperate, the quality of the product would speak for itself. I do a quick search by entering the product and the word scam....and here I am.
Great product! Most of the negative reviews looks like people that we're not able to use it. But it works great on old slow computers that you can't use or have become so painfully slow.
I really Cannot fathom why there is so much hating being done towards this product ( im in no way affiliated) I got one for my fathers old acer laptop that would barely allow him to do the only thing he wants to do nowadays which is stream content and save photos. over time esp with old pcs the hard drives become fragmented making them slow, unresponsive, and if you add any sort of virus or malware then someone who's not tech savvy WILL either find it impossible to use or spend much more on antivirus and/or tech support to make use of their computers. this was my fathers case. people saying its a scam is total ignorance they clearly are only speaking From their own 1/9billion perspective. seriously, its a shame they have access to the internet, so listen; IF YOURE TECH SAVVY AND CAN FIND/DOWNLOAD/INSTALL THE *PROPER*(As there are many) LINUX OS YOURSELF, then DO IT. idk why you bought it in the first place then, but it obviously isn't so simple as to call them scammers or else there'd be a lot less computers that get no use. ALSO, they DONT advertise that this will make a dead COMPUTER work, rather a computer with a "dead" or "corrupted"/ fragmented hard drive. Anyone should be able to discern whether a computer has a dead Battery, or Broken Screen, or some other vital component for powering on. possibly they could've been more specific about this but How can anyone complain as if they aren't providing a service?? some usb drives ARE $30+ if its not and has 64gb it probably is a low performance drive with slow data transfer speeds. if they are doubling up and making 17 dollars to do what a lot of people cant/dont want/havent the time to do, then that's more than fair It is a great idea for a product and whoever is complaining that, and I quote:" they dont give refunds unless the product is open OR defective" SRSLY?? they are likely a tiny company why should they go broke refunding and eating shipping costs because all of you dont know how to reboot a computer so it startup from a different drive, or bc you thought it would revive your TOTALLY ruined non operational pc? my goodness people...step outside yourself. if your computer is laggy, closes applications outta nowhere, takes forever to boot or simply wont boot up all the way or boots in safe mode BUT WILL POWER ON, then its TOTALLY WORTH IT.
Was thinking of buying this product to jazz up my seven year-old laptop. But after reading the reviews it is clear that it is fake and does not work. The sellers are just another bunch of internet crooks.
DON'T BUY! Can't even return due to their return policy. 30 days return policy from shipping date, takes 27 days to arrive so I have 3 days to return this JUNK.
Stay away!!!!!!! This is an awful experience! They have no integrity and will not stand behind their products. Refunds are not allowed unless product is not opened or defective. How can you not open the product to see if it does what they say it does, or if it is defective????????? Nice bit of manipulation. My comment was that the product did not perform as expected and I was basically left on my own. Stay away, not worth the effort. Not very customercentric. Now I understand why they will not back their product.
This thing is a waste of money. If your hard drive is dead it does not do a darn thing. and if you try to return it they ignore you. You never get your money back.
IT IT THE BIGGEST SCAM IN THE WORLD EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS A LIE>>> THEY RIP YOU OFF AND REFUSE TO PROVIDE A RMA# TO RETURN THE ITEM> WITHOUT THAT THEY BASICALLY TELL YOU TO DROP DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
