Rewards Brain Rot Consumerism

This platform used to be fun that promoted genuine education. But now, it's promoting these sellouts who walk on eggshells to avoid getting demonitized like spineless cowards. Ads have gotten crazy here to the point where I started using adblockers. Some of these ads are from scammy companies. Finding watchable YouTubers got much harder thanks to big tech nazis who have been dictating what is acceptable on these popular platforms like they're in a Kancel Kulture Karens Klan. It's really pathetic how society allows all of this to happen. Which is showing that they've become zombified.

Too many adverts but the monthly subscription is way too high

The number of adverts is way too high; 30 seconds popping up all the time. I don't watch them and look away so I couldn't name one advert that I've seen. I have no idea how advertisers think they're actually increasing sales as a result of advertising here.

YouTube could cut their server costs by deleting the rubbish videos that few people watch; then reduce the subscription costs. If it was lower like £4.99, more people would sign up.

The adverts are designed to annoy so people will then subscribe but I only subscribe if I will be going on holiday, so the YouTube theory that everyone will just pay up doesn't work.

9 weeks and counting and still won’t fix the issue

This company has known for 9 weeks now that it has a catastrophic fault and the algorithm doesn’t show any of the stuff the customer watches but shows religious content gun and ammunition videos and everything else that it pulls out from over a decade ago but what you interact with and has deliberately disabled the system so it shows the same video 300 times in a 48 hour period even though it’s been reported and feedback sent but I’ve been told that they know about this issue but they still won’t fix it.

Youtube seems to be on a head hunt as of late. 2 of my channels videos (which have been up for over 4 years) have been taken down due to "community guideline violations" for having to do with firearms. One video taken down for this reason doesn't have a firearm in the video!!!! I submitted an appeal, only for it to be denied for no reason!

Objective Review-

Objective Review-
Youtube is a TOXIC platform and its algorithm is simply plus intentionally created to make you so called addicted/ obsessed with it. It is ALMOST SIMILAR to Instagram. It won't stop recommending you youtube shorts and songs (that you strongly do not appreciate and do dislike ). I do not give a flip about what other people ( especially so called celebrities ) are doing in their so called personal lives, neither I would like to see that on youtube when I am trying to listen to my songs. Youtube tries, again tries to make noisy ( which is creepy and abnormal ).

YouTube has TOO MUCH ads!

I mean it’s a great website/app to use but the advertisements. There is TOO MUCH! I mean it’s better than Prime Video. Remove some ads! 2 ads should be the MAX on a single 15 minute video!

Still the same crappy nonsense

I decided to try YouTube after being off it for several months. Nothing has changed, I was trying to watch just a short video clip and in the middle of it an ad pops up. You have to wait prior to looking at something because there are ads that I have to dismiss and they’re always there. When I started singing karaoke, I would go on and practice my songs, and there were never any ads to block the video. In addition, I can no longer comment because I need to create a channel and I don’t want to create a channel. I just want to watch a damn video in peace. I’ve sent feedback and of course nothing is done. So goodbye YouTube.

★☆☆☆☆ Google's Data Protection Office: A Masterclass

★☆☆☆☆ — Google's Data Protection Office: A Masterclass in Not Reading Emails**

I run a German-language educational YouTube channel. Custom slides, self-composed music, professional editing the whole nine yards. On February 5, 2026, YouTube demonetized me for "inauthentic content." Which content? They wouldn't say. After three separate requests, still no answer. Just vibes.

So I did what the law says I can do: I filed a formal Data Subject Access Request under Art. 15 GDPR on February 6, 2026. I requested seven specific categories of data algorithmic scores, internal assessments, reviewer notes, the actual basis for the decision. I even included a preemptive note that pointing me to Google Takeout would not satisfy the request, citing the Court of Justice of the EU (C-487/21) for good measure.

The statutory deadline was March 6. Google's Data Protection Office responded on March 9 three days late, for those keeping score at home.

And the response? A generic template. "Sign in to your Google Account." "Review your settings." "Download your data via Google Takeout." The exact thing I had explicitly told them does not constitute compliance. In the very letter they were supposedly replying to.

This leaves two possibilities: either Google's Data Protection Office did not read my request, or they read it and decided that copying and pasting a self-service FAQ would make the problem go away. I'm genuinely unsure which is worse.

For context, this was the *fourth* Google department to respond to my case with an off-topic template. YouTube Support, YouTube Legal, YouTube Privacy, and now the Data Protection Office four departments, four form letters, zero engagement with the actual substance.

I have since filed complaints with the Bundesnetzagentur under the Digital Services Act, a formal Art. 77 GDPR complaint with the Berlin Data Protection Authority, and referred the matter to Platform Control, the certified out-of-court dispute resolution body.

To anyone considering whether Google takes EU data protection law seriously: they responded to a seven-category GDPR request with a deadline, case law citations, and a preemptive rebuttal of their standard deflection by doing exactly the thing the request told them not to do. Three days late.

That's not a malfunction. That's a system working exactly as designed.
