STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! Issues with cancelling accommodation during refundable period due to errors made by the platform. Virtual agents are useless and no resolution will be reached with staff over the phone. Their platform won't allow for you to cancel your booking prior. However, works perfectly after the booking becomes non-refundable

Wotif.com has let us down badly in relation to a booking cancellation

Summary of a very frustrating time with WOTIF Reservations chat function who did not cancel our booking as it said it would!! We have lost our money and left us terribly stressed!!

I wanted to cancel accommodation we had booked in Spain after we received an email from WOT IF by their Reservations Unit. I went on their website to cancel the reservation and was sent to the Chat function.
I entered the Reservation ID and the property Number explaining that we wanted to cancel that reservation.

I asked if they would cancel immediately and the response in Chat was that the cancellation notice would be forwarded to the Reservations unit and that it would be actioned. I wanted to be sure that the reservation had actually been cancelled but was put through the same process. I was anxious that we would not be charged as I was within the free cancellation period.
For the second time I gave the reservation ID and Property number and received the same response that they would action the reservation.

I asked to speak with a human as it was not confirmed that the cancellation had gone through.

A human came to the Chat and I reiterated the same information as twice before and was told that WOT IF would action the cancellation.

None of that happened!! We received a notice from an agency noting that they were looking forward to welcoming us which is now out of the free cancellation period.
Obviously, nothing was actioned and when I replied to the welcome notice and explained that we had cancelled the reservation though the WOT IF chat, they replied that they had not received any such request. They had already taken money from our card which we used to book the property in the first place, and were also told that we would not get our money back as it was too late to cancel.

This is appalling service from Wot If.com

I would never book anything with this provider or trust their CHAT function as obviously it does not work for the benefit of its customers! I am furious to say the least.

Booking itinerary issue

Wotif/expedia known have system issues with bookings itinerary confirmations or cancellations being auctioned. Oaks redcliffe Brisbane hotel not refund funds when we did not stay. Daylight robbery from hotel too cost our family two thousand plus dollars, for not even staying at hotel. System issue hotel robbery.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. It didn’t have anything for the date I wanted, so it changed the date. It didn’t tell me. When I went to accept the non refundable payment I tried to check the date, but I wasn’t able to. They offered me a room at twice the price - 30% more than if I booked direct. So I am left sitting at the airport with nowhere to stay, with a booking for 2 weeks time when I will be 3500 kilometres away. AVOID WOTIF. They are unethical, immoral and should not be allowed to operate.

Easy to deal with in my cases

Easy I don't know why people are so against this platform , that remember they are now owned by Expedia , so this might cause delays because of policies. I dealt with them 3 or for time and was really easy even in to occasions was my mistakes and I fixed straight our issues, once I was overseas and the did managed a book flight change before the company customer support.
I think no-one is perfect but is good to keep using Wotif as is still and "Aus business" no I haven't received money or deal to write this feedback. Enjoy your life anyone

7 HOURS ON HOLD, agents lie to you

HOURS ON HOLD. THEY ARE LYING! THEY NEVER CALL YOU BACK Their phones are designed to cut off at the 1.10hr mark.

3x goes at being on hold for 1 hour to be cut off right after nearly getting my date change request finalised. They confirm your mobile phone number to say they can call you back if the phone disconnects and the don't call!! This company is more than a joke. No wonder these types of call centres are disliked by the world.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Don’t you dare make a small error over 2 weeks out from the booking and calling them immediately requesting a cancellation and refund. They refuse to assist you at all no matter how much notice we gave. We booked the wrong date by a day and after realising the error contacted them immediately. Guess what, Sorry No refunds, No cancellation. We wanted to rebook through them for another date (The correct date 2 weeks away) but were told after a lengthy phone call and 3 emails later “Sorry, we cannot make contact with the hotel.” So, we called the hotel and asked them if they would approve changes through wotif for us and they said absolutely, but because we’ve booked through wotif, wotif would have to contact the hotel. Needless to say the hotel wasn’t contacted by wotif instead we just received a standard IA or a BOT generated email saying the hotel couldn’t be contacted therefore our booking cannot be changed and no refunds etc were allowed.
Avoid these parasites like the plague. Never ever again will we use them. Avoid Avoid avoid.

ZERO star rating.

If i had the option for ZERO star rating I would have. I have got evidence of payment made by WOTIF.com, the motel can see the booking made through WOTIF.com
However going to the support and having a VIRTUAL assist you is crap. When they finally put you through a "so called" human they are just as useless. I am unable to send a screen shot to them for the payment made which is a joke. Will never use them again, will never recommend them.. I can just say STAY CLEAR OF THEM.

Terrible customer service and misleading website

When booking on the website, it said "Reserve Room" with a clause "you will not be charged yet".
I followed the reservation, which then typically requires you to put in your card information for the booking. Given the wording that I was following through with a "RESERVATION" where I will "NOT BE CHARGED YET", you could imagine my surprise that I was charged immediately.

I phoned customer service and Sarah's immediate response was "well I didn't book the room for you, You did that yourself". Pretty poor customer service with zero compassion. I spoke to the supervisor who didn't acknowledge my complaint on how she handled it. He also told me "you would have seen 2 options to pay now or pay later so it's your fault you clicked the wrong one" when I explained that the only option was "reserve with a clause you will not be charged yet" he said "well then you only had 1 option" no kidding smart a**. That 1 option was severely misleading that the system was making a reservation not requiring immediate payment.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

A change of name was required on our flight ticket. Two hours on the phone with WOTIF at the airport and they could not help us and lost the flight. We purchased two new tickets to fly to our destination. The return flight in the meantime was cancelled by the airline but no communication from our agent (WOTIF) so I had to purchase another two flights to get home.
Numerous hours of ‘chats’ with WOTIF on my return to get a refund and they just claim it’s the airlines fault.
Worst customer service ever.
Never ever use them again.

Avoid at all costs!!!

⭐ 1/5 – Wotif failed to protect or advocate for consumer rights

I am extremely disappointed with Wotif’s handling of my case.

I raised a dispute regarding undisclosed charges and services not provided as advertised for a car rental booked and paid for through Wotif. Instead of advocating for me as a consumer, Wotif refused to take any meaningful action and repeatedly asked me to put up with the charge even though when I presented evidence I never received the services!!

Despite clear issues of non-transparent pricing and the rental company threatening to reduce or withhold my deposit, Wotif did not intervene, investigate, or assist in protecting my consumer rights.

As the booking agent and payment platform, I expected Wotif to stand up for its customers, ensure vendors comply with fair trading standards, and provide support when disputes arise. Unfortunately, Wotif did not act in the interests of the consumer and offered no effective dispute resolution.

Based on my experience, Wotif does not provide adequate consumer protection when problems occur. I would not recommend relying on Wotif if issues arise with third-party vendors. Avoid this website at all costs!

Booking holiday accomodation through…

Booking holiday accomodation through Wotif.com was one of the worst online experiences I have ever had. They are owned by the huge conglomerate Expedia which also owns vrbo who manages rental accomodation for the host of the property. This makes the cancellation process confusing because you have to navigate through various links and tiers of information. They don’t make it easy for you to find the relevant information. Once you find a link that works you are taken to an AI generated chat which goes nowhere. After over 40 minutes, I accidentally found a link to a customer service chat-don’t ask me how, I accidentally stumbled across it. Eventually I was able to get a partial refund even though their policy states 100% refund within the allocated timeframe The customer service person couldn’t explain why it was only a partial refund. After over an hour of time wasting attempting to navigate this process, I gave up. I will never book through Watif.com again. Their customer service, coordination between their products and online interface are absolutely APALLING!

Wotif lie to their customers!

The wrong date popped up on my itinerary. When I called Wotif customer to sort it out, everything went south immediately. When they put you into a 1 hour queue to call back, they don’t call back at all. I spent hours to call back. 15 minute queue, still no call back. 5-7 queue still no call back. I kept calling back till I finally got ahold of them by just waiting on hold. When I did call back, they said everything was sorted. Then I caught them in an outright lie! They said they called our motel. When we arrived at the motel, the reception desk clerk said they never called. And the reservation was never fixed. At the motel the clerk said Wotif has been making so many mistakes with customers lately. They were so sympathetic, and even though our reservation was not for the day of our arrival they over-wrote it and accepted us in. DO NOT use Wotif! If you like a customer service department that outright lies …. be my guest!

I am a veteran travel guide writer and author in Oceania - Google Darroch Donald - My latest booking experience with Wotif (Graeme Wood was founder, since sold and would be appalled) ) was an absolute farce. I currently recommend that you DO NOT book with Wotif until they facilitate an ability to talk to a human being or email if there are any issues - which is 'virtually' (pardon the pun) nonexistent. As it stands their customer service is effectively ZERO beyond their appalling virtual Vbro platform - utter waste of time. I booked accommodation that was connected to a whole host of other booking entities which is half the problem. I took out cancellation insurance and after 63 - yes 63 - screenshots of attempted correspondence with 'Vbro', AirB&B, AirKeeper and XCover I have yet to reach a resolution. I have all the proof. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER WOTIF - I once trusted you - NOT NOW!

On hold with call centre with no help provided

The call centre is on hold for max 5 minutes. I don't really expect them to answer my request which is to cancel my booking through Wotif. Wotif has already charged me excessively. I've been charged without my consent. Wotif is a scamming service. Still on hold.

They booked us into the WRONG, crap/insult of a hotel at Melbourne Tullermarine airport. I booked us into the Ibis Budget, with Yellow Frontage, where I stayed in January....complete with 3 restaurants, free shuttle, excellent room & bathroom, excellent/helpful staff & complimentary drink at bar, airconditioning.....they booked us into the cheap Ibis Budget, White Frontage, with NO restaurant, NO free shuttle, TINY room, TINY bathroom...(smaller than we had in our cabin on Ghan train)! & very rude staff!!!
Now they're NOT going to compensate us by the sound/look of it.... NOT OUR FAULT 😥🥵

I made a booking for September…

I made a booking for September 2026/with free cancellation and pay at the hotel on check in, but still had to give my credit card details, and was advised I would not be charged. The booking confirmation I received showed that I had purchased the accomodation with the non refund option and when checked my credit card card it showed I had been charged the full amount. I tried to cancel but the virtual assistant said it was non refundable. After read in numerous negative reviews referring to numerous booking errors and poor or non existent customer service, I feel I have been cheated. Not good enough. I will never use Wotif again and will advise everyone I know to do likewise.

Complete waste of time

Uses a completely incompetent AI virtual agent to attempt to answer customer enquiries, and the responses are nonsense - exactly like the AI virtual agents of all companies I have encountered who are attempting to use them. Boycotting this company and its disdain for human beings. Also, 100% of the links from its email newsletter are faulty - including the unsubscribe link.

Awful company

Awful company. They booked my room for the wrong day and refused to refund me for the hotel. The hotel refused to refund me too - because I booked it through wot if they wouldn’t deal directly with me.
