Such a nice shop and the two guys who run it couldn't be nicer, but there is a problem - every time I take my bike in for one repair or new part they always find something else to fix without telling me they are going to do it; and sometimes the extra work they do is completely unnecessary. When I get a puncture they always fit a new tyre, for example, without telling me/asking me first. I'm not going to use the shop any more after getting a broken spoke fixed and then being charged for a broken spoke and a new set of back brake blocks which didn't need changing. I know they didn't need changing because I almost never use the back brakes!

These guys know their stuff on bikes. Trustworthy and competitively priced. Best in West London.

I used to use this shop but I am not going to use them anymore! They gave me an estimate to fix the wheel for £25 and when it was ready they charged me £130 without even letting me know beforehand. I could have bought the same new wheel for £150! One advice for anyone is to ask them beforehand the exact price to fix it. This is not acceptable.

Bike taken into them for a service a couple of years ago. Despite the quoted prices, staff found a 'reason' why they didn't call to notify me that the bill would come to twice the expected amount - something they proudly quote on their website to offer transparency with the customer.

When it came time to collect the bike after a week, (price revealed, jaw-dropped), when asked to be given the old part that they had supposedly swapped out, I was given some random part that they had lying around. (How do I know this? - Because it was physically impossible to fit my bike, so quite how it was the original item defies logic).

"Save the high street, save the high street" they tell us. It's no wonder people go online if high street retailers such as this Acton (not Chiswick as they claim to be) based business looks at overcharging people foolish enough to do business with them.

I left feeling cheated, but the staff weren't interested.
Bike suffered from the same problem despite the over-priced service. Bike was taken elsewhere to be corrected and the problem has never reoccurred since. So, either an amateur was responsible for my bike's service, or they didn't service it.

Either way, it's not a business I would recommend, nor revisit.

Cycled to Woolsey on Wed as told my dog's bike basket was not safe after being fitted by a cycle shop in Chiswick and it lifting up after first use. Told by the guy I seen that he could either fit a piece off wood or another plate and that would call me Friday 3rd May with an estimate. Called today (2nd May) saying all they could do was fit two plastic cable ties (which my friend had already done) and that they didn't have any wood!! And that the bike basket was a bad design. (Basil is the best make for bike baskets and very well made) Called me to tell me I had to collect my bike today as they didn't have room and charged me £10 for fitting 2 plastic ties. My friend was going to take his bike in for repair to this shop or either purchase a new cycle which I mentioned Wed to them but he's decided against it after this poor service and poor attitude. A business that just couldn't be bothered to follow through on what they advised me or use initiative to get a piece off wood and that they didn't want to drill holes, which has already been done and I said they could. Wish I'd read the last review before mine!

I've always strived to be a supporter of the small independent LBS (local bike shop) because of the excellent service and knowledge they tend to offer over the 'big boys' like Halfords and Evans Cycles. Add to this Woolsey of Acton is one of the longest-running family businesses in the area, so it is with a very heavy heart that I feel obliged to leave such a poor rating.

The facts of the matter are: I visited the shop to get an internally-routes front mech cable replaced. Despite several ( I believe five) return visits they were unable to fix the issue properly. In the interim I was also "persuaded" to replace a back brake on a comparatively new bike and naturally they didn't have the same model (Shimano 105) and so tried pushing me toward a much more expensive Shimano Ultegra one.

Eventually I gave up and after several attempts at trying to get some financial redress for what was effectively a failed repair I left frustrated and over £100 lighter.

The bike was taken to a nearby Evans Cycles who were able to fix the issue to my satisfaction at the first attempt.
