Distressing and embarrassing experience

Extremely distressing and embarrassing experience at the Yonge & Eglington store in Toronto. During a single purchase, the store processed the same item twice and also failed to remove a security tag from another item I had legitimately paid for. When I returned with my receipt to resolve the issue, staff immediately accused me instead of considering the possibility of another store error. The situation was handled with a complete lack of professionalism and basic respect. What should have been a simple correction became a disappointing, embarrassing, and distressing experience caused by untrained and rude staff. In my 55 years of life, I have never experienced a situation handled this poorly. I am now pursuing resolution through external channels and I hope others carefully check their receipts and charges before paying at this location or, better yet, do not purchase from this location.

Customer Service

Winners at 45 Red Maple Road Richmond Hill ON 7pm

I always love shopping at Winner and this is the first time shopping at this location and would never come back again. My 11yrs was quietly reading by himself at a display chair which I see other people sitting around as well. A senior female staff at the jewelry department yelling out loud from across the counter gave mean and rude comments telling him to stand up and go away as he and another child was ruining the display chair. My son got scared and started sobbing and crying. If he is not allowed to sit there, he is old enough to understand you. You can just talk to him instead of yelling and harassing him loudly in front of the public. Employees should not interact with children in a way that is humiliating, shaming or frightening. This is totally unacceptable behaviour and I hope the head office will take this feedback seriously. My son saw a woman sitting at the same spot before him and the lady didn't say anything to her. Why pick a kid to shame on just because he is a child and looks weaker? Her attitude is totally inappropriate and disrespectful.

Winners is amazing!👌And cheaper!

I found my favorite pants there! And they fit perfectly! They are pink silky soft flares! [And I bought most of my new furniture there! My kids love it.] They have all kinds of nice stuff. And some really nice footwear too.

(I don't like gum but my kid bought some strawberry gum from the checkout and it is amazingly delicious! Please let me know how the watermelon tastes!)

Customer service

On February 27, 2026, I visited your Carleton Place location to return several items. My original purchases were made using the same gift card; however, I had two separate receipts as the items were purchased at different times.

At the register, I was informed that the returns could not be placed back onto the same gift card. I understand that this is in fact possible, as I have had this done multiple times at other Winners locations. The process involves scanning one receipt, completing the return, then selecting an additional transaction to process the second receipt onto the same gift card.

The cashier was unsure and asked the manager, David, for assistance. Unfortunately, his response was dismissive and unprofessional. When I attempted to explain that this process had been done for me before, he interrupted me mid-sentence and stated, “I am not discussing this with you.”

I was genuinely surprised by his tone and attitude. As someone who works in customer service, I cannot imagine speaking to a customer in this manner. Regardless of store policy, the interaction could have been handled respectfully and professionally.

This was not a pleasant experience, and as a result, I will be choosing to shop at other locations rather than the Carleton Place store.

I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as customer service plays a significant role in the overall shopping experience.

Sincerely,
Lucy

Fitting Room attendant Catherine

What outstanding service at the Pitt Meadows location. It isn't easy dealing with the public day in and day out. Each person I encountered was exemplary in service namely Catherine who was the fitting room attendant today Jan 23rd. What an absolutely lovely lady

Madness at the Mall! I’m a frequent shopper at Marshall’s on…

I’m a frequent shopper at Marshall’s on Major Mackenzie drive in Vaughan, Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 I like the store, easy to navigate quickly, I’m elderly, good products, reasonable prices, friendly staff, clean environment. Occasionally, staff loading shelves, make you feel you are in their way. Overall a good shopping experience.

💥However, after waiting in line for a long period of time, October 3, 2025. I handed ELLEN my winner’s bag to put my purchases in. She told me to bag it myself . I usually do, just not when it’s demanded of me. I’m elderly. I then gave her $220 for a $215 purchase, 11 times $20 cash. She counted it 3 times. I then told her she needed to get some basic math skills. No yelling, no swearing. She then starts defending herself. She then counted it again for the 4th time. Are you kidding me? I was not impressed.
💥Sunday October 5, I’m being rung up. Ellen was working again that day. She was getting ready to leave for the day. I was cashing out. ELLEN interrupted the sale to hug the cashier and discuss her work schedule. I said nothing. Again, not impressed.
💥 Before we entered lineup, with much difficulty, I unloaded 2 end tables near entrance. I overheard someone rudely demanding my grandson not leave it there, to put it back where it belongs. I then came around the corner and told her it was too heavy. She made a rude face and rolled her eyes and then stomped off. I’m elderly. This girl was white, about 25, very bright blonde hair. Again, not impressed.

I too worked at a department store at 16, before automation. We had to input codes into machines manually, do all math in our heads, give quality service with a smile.

💜 I wish that the personnel responsible for hiring would take greater care to ensure that the people they hire are capable of doing the job they are paid for and capable of interacting with the public in a positive way. Do better Marshall’s.
