Koga frame cracked after 2 years of use
On 11 February 2023, I purchased a KOGA Traveler - Women's bicycle - Shimano Deore LX - 53 cm for €1,099.00. When I took it to a bicycle shop for its annual service a few months ago, I got a nasty surprise: the frame of my bicycle was cracked and unusable. They advised me not to use it again and told me there was nothing that could be done. The bicycle was ready for the scrap heap. In just over two years, I had cycled about 10,000 km on the cycle paths of the Netherlands. When Wijverkopen sold me this bike, I was told that if I took good care of it, I could keep it for at least ten years. When I asked the bicycle shop how this crack could have happened, they told me that in more than 80% of cases, it was because when refurbishing the bike and changing the handlebars, instead of putting them straight, they had probably forced them into place at an angle. I am very upset. £1,000 for two years is clearly excessive. And there is no email address where I can explain all this. I therefore strongly caution anyone who wants to buy a refurbished bicycle from this shop. It's a lottery. I strongly recommend looking for other options.
