An Okay Relationship

I have an okay relationship with Wheatley, don't really have any issues, I have a good housing officer ( Gillian) my main gripe is the rent increase , also above inflation rate, no need for this increase, absolutely disgusting.

As a homeowner in a building partly managed by Wheatley Group, my experience has been extremely frustrating. Tenants placed in the building regularly cause stress to other residents through late‑night noise, antisocial behaviour, and damage to communal areas.
Despite raising these issues repeatedly, Wheatley Group take little to no action. Instead of managing their tenants or addressing the ongoing problems, they simply advise residents to “call the police,” which feels like a way of avoiding responsibility altogether.
For a housing provider, the lack of ownership, support, and follow‑up is unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Wheatley Group.

It’s alright , just need to remove some workers

It’s alright , just got few people working at the company that got job without knowledge or experience, but family recommendations etc.

Had experience with one , silly girl Laura yesterday in Glasgow , what a waste of working space .
She can’t do her job so , she screams on the phone like she owns the group .

Sorry to tell the truth , you can’t gain working experience by laying in bed with someone , you know what I mean 😆

Disgraceful, Wheatley group (Wheatleyhomes-south)

A third grievance and a third time they do nothing and claim that its not within their policies. They follow the grievance policy to the letter just so you can’t go to the housing ombudsman. Call centre staff are limited with how tgey can help and housing officers and middle managers have no empathy or compassion with little to no interest in actually helping their tenants. A disgraceful company that has only one interest “making money off of its tenants who are house in very poor conditions!

A housing officer who thinks she’s better than you, a year of mould issues in 2 bedrooms resulting in numerous mould washes, walls stripped and redecorated and 1 room was completely replastered l, and still getting problems with mould.
3 grievances later and still no improvement and still being just fobbed off with policy balderdash. No compassion, no empathy, no support. Can not wait to find somewhere else not with Wheatley group-south!!

Im not able to give minus stars! They’d get minus five!!!

Fair rents i do not think so

I believe that when a bigger company takes over a smaller one as in a housing Association there should be trust and Honesty and open to clients questions and those making these decisions honest and being transparent . The Wheatly group promises low rents and more transparency .after taking over Dunedin Canmore a few years back . Another 7% rise in 2025 after the same rise in 2024 and continuing inflation busting rises . They the Board take it upon themselves to get together and raise rents on their figures only a take it or leave it basis . No one can get in touch with them.

POOR SERVICE AT HIGH COST

They charge extremely high management fees and deliver poor service consistently at all times. They produce fake reports of work carried out and charge for these. They never check the cleaning service and it takes on average about a month and a half to get a full response if you email them. Glasgow City Council is also to blame if they let Wheatley operate like that

Disgraceful service from a terrible company/group. They have the audacity to promote themselves as a “Housing and Care” group. Mismanaged and will be reported to the Housing Regulator. Vulnerable Tenants waiting nearly a year for a repair.

Damp and Mould here we come!

Where do I start? I have been a tenant of Wheatley Homes (aka GHA), part of Wheatley Group, for over fifteen years. And I have to say that GHA / Wheatley Homes are awful. Just awful.
When GHA Wheatley first let my home to me it was in a disgusting condition: it had not clearly not been cleaned for years, was infested with bugs and had no central heating. The only heating it did have was an old bar fire which fizzled and died after an hour.
Over the years I have had countless leaks of water into my flat, leading to pernicious damp and mould. GHA Wheatley do not care and do nothing to address the causes. According to them, damp is the responsibility of the tenant…
Repairs to common areas also take ages or are simply not done. In our block we have a defective secure entry door, the lock for which fails almost daily and has done for nearly ten years. Similarly there is a window with missing latches, so anyone can just open it and climb through from the outside.
During the pandemic and lockdown, GHA Wheatley stopped all but extremely urgent repairs and stopped all their factoring – but they still charged tenants for these services.
We are supposed to have housing officers – however no-one knows who they are or how to contact them.
Then year after year we are hit with rent hikes that are way above inflation – for example, in 2020 we were hit with a rent hike of 2.57% ABOVE inflation. There is no mechanism to have rent reviewed and no independent rent-setting or adjudication body.
All in all, in my experience this is a shoddy, poorly run, unaccountable housing group. I would urge everyone if at all possible to avoid renting a home from them and for Wheatley Group’s investors to have a good, long, hard look at the ethics of doing business with such an organisation.
